What Exactly Happened to Cisco's Flip Camera?

Flip discontinued because they found out after selling thousands of these defective cameras they where facing major issues with recharging, they sold off the company in 2009. So they wouldn't be liable for returns. The company used the excuse smart phones made making a flip obsolete, not true just BS to protect their arse.

what ever you do , dont buy one of these, thousands are faulty, the company and their marketting dept know all about it , and even the retailers know of the problems , mainly the camera just going dead and not recharging. I went onto the Flip help group set up by Flip and because I mentioned this and invited other members to join me in getting something done ...they banned me ! I have never seen so many complaints about an item........ Dont say no one told ya !

Agree! I got my flip in 2011. Its the white one, it sucks my picture quality sucks. I now use iphone 4s app that has flash light and zoom (big improvement)

Brought a Flip and the thing was broken within the month. Nothing worked. Massive con. I think Cisco knew that there were flaws (you only have to look at youtube to see thousands of people with problems) made their money and ran.

oh and f+#@ the fu+*%$# i-phone. FOR ALL YOU IPHONE USERS: ditch the past, i-phone is old news, upgrade to android. more apps to choose from, more phones to choose from (hell 2 phones is more to choose from the apple's offerings and android is on MANY MANY phones!) not to mention my HTC screen is way bigger then the iphones, while the actual phone is smaller then the iphone. to top it all off IPHONE IS UGLY. looks like a plastic brick to me and im old enough to remember the brick phone.

cisco didnt give up on the flip. just got my new hd3 flip. the newest model! on top of that they just released the new flip mino. in fact the flip is so popular that many companies have started making flip knock offs. the sony bloggie, the sanyo thin vid, as well as many others. the newest flip has 720HD, 60fps, Image Stabilization, and 2X zoom. cisco is also planning on a 1080hd model to be released 2012. i will say that cisco did make a big noise about killing the flip. imo a marketing ploy.

Well Flip is pretty cool...and the quality isn't the best, but so what, it's a $100 camcorder and it doesn't have really good focus but at least it can capture 70% of the details, not including text though....I don't think it should be discountined because it still is amazing for shoot and shares and the price is good too but there are better cameras out there!

Seriously. Flip should've updated their video quality and made new minos. Flips did one thing really well and that was shoot basic video for Youtube. The HD Flips are even better.

Cisco has not deleted the Flip camera. The company has merely replaced the Flip with the Fuzzle Camcorder, which is a halfway point between the flip and a camcorder. Peace out guys.

I had a flip before, but it fell in the ocean. my iPod touch 4g is pretty much my flip replacement because of the great sound quality :-)
