I love Chigusa, never seen her before this and I think she's awesome.
first off, takeuchi had it coming. Chigusa gave her try after try, and told her countless times to fight back and takeuchi never did. She was just wasting Chigusa's time and all she could do was say "no" ,agree or cry.
this is Chigusa's life and passion, all she wants is for the trainees to bust their ass like she once did, she's not being a bitch for no reason. its not like chigusa is holding them against their will
Chiggy no-selling Takeuchi's offense and stiffing her and just generally being an asshole upset me at first, but then I imagined she was man-handling Kelly-Kelly and I felt better...how shameful of me. >_>
Shoulda busted Chiggy's face up, too. That's what she wanted her to do. Perhaps she was too afraid to strike her trainer out of anger, but I mean, fuck. That's what she was asking for!! "If that were me, I would have given back twice what I had gotten." That's code for "You should've beat the shit out of me for that."
Even during that speech at the end I bet Chiggy would've been so proud if that girl just popped her one square between the eyes.
This is mild compared to what I've read about all the hazing rituals in the male dojos, especially the NJPW dojo as depicted in the book "Ring of Hell".
she never did really. If you saw her matches in GAEA then you'd she never really had the fire in her performance, her offence always looked lacksadasicle
Again, unfortunately, she got off lightly. They work the trainees damn hard, treat them like absolute shit, then work them even harder for good measure to test how dedicated they are
Interesting. Quite honestly, I'm completely appalled by the abuse. Normally, I always try to see Chigusa in a good light but her actions in this documentary and another available at Voeh leave a very abhorrent and deathly disgusting taste in my mouth. I would like to see footage when one of the trainees snaps and knocks her out cold. The vengeance the trainee brings, how about that? So the documentary is great minus the abuse.
Its happened, apparently, on more than one occasion, but its very rare. I knew a guy who went to a New Japan training camp, apparently there was a guy who just snapped and lamped one of the trainers who was giving him a hard time
Culturally, this is all pretty normal. Teachers want to get the absolute best out of their students and failure is NOT an option. This is no different than if it were a high school or college setting. I agree, that this all seems pretty horrible, but its not unusual at all.
Well, you're right about the need to achieve excellence but abuse like this is just totally intolerable and anyone who disagrees is morally and intellectually bankrupt.
Mick Foley had some interesting views on wrestling trainers in Have A Nice Day. He said there were too many bullies who's idea of 'manhood' was pathetic and sad. Now this was American trainers he was referring to.
Ultimately negative reinforcement to this degree is what nearly put Joshi out of business. Hard, work, dedication, respect and sacrifice is of the utmost importance but there is no shame in not making it. You'd think Chiggy-san would understand that.
Well, she does believe those traits but it's just that the abuse here seems to really overshadow and devestate that persona. Lets not forget about Chiggy's inclination of bitterness and unforgiveness toward those who lose their enthusiam and quit as in Part 7. So in the quest to uphold the code of ethics, there really needs to be a maintainace of morality, decency, humanity and understanding.
Oh my God that first clothesline Chigusa threw was *SICK*

Awesome. Some verbal and physical abuse from Chiggy-san. Just trying to toughen the girl up. Time for Part 10. Hail GAEA.

Awesome. Vengeance is sweet. Has any of the trainees ever snapped on Chigusa? That's what I want to know.

I'm not entirely sure, most japanese keep things like that quiet, doesn't look good or encourage new trainees, see? I'll ask around though.

Thanks. I have nothing but love and respect for Chigusa but as a trainer, her methods are actrocious, out of character and out of line.
