  • Uncensored ads, that makes them fun.

  • I like games back in the day when things where so much more simple, I actually enjoyed all sorts of game types

  • Why is the beggining so emotional?

  • Donkey Kong!

  • Is all this his gameplay?

  • contrOversy xD

  • do neighbors from hell

  • Carmageddon is great, I miss playing the game

  • @stukaBA a new one is in the works for digital download for later this year

  • Wow, how brilliant is this! Very cool that you're reviewing all these old games :)

  • so this is where they got the idea for mario vs donkey kong from...

  • 11:10 is that the bat mobile?

  • Buying it

  • Finally, someone who can speak proper English.

  • i remember when i was a kid,my cousin had one of those old dos based pcs(at the time it seemed like a big deal to me)and the only game he had on it was carmageddon...lots of fond memories.thank god it was the uncensored version!

i might be wrong or just mixing it up with some other game but..were you by any chance able to run over cows in the original carmageddon?

  • @TheChainsOFMisery Jup, quite some tracks also featured cows, next to pedestrians. When hit, they would make a 'moo'-sound (how obvious).

  • I thought you said He-Man absolution but then i thought about it and nah that cant be right xD

Great video by the way :)

  • Cunning stunt bonus? Thats a bit cheeky. 3:38

  • VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM... splat

  • "I was in the war!" - Carmageddon (PC) - best game ever!

  • This is a great series of videos, could you make a video about the PC game Black And White?

  • Carmageddonnnnn! One of them had Fear Factory on the soundtrack as well, which was pretty risky in that it's not the most accessible music. Made it twice as fun to me though. Great series!

  • you should of covered vigilante 8

  • @retroahoy You should do contra

  • do the elder scrolls seires

  • I'm surprised that you didn't mention Twisted Metal in this episode.

  • Haha this game was so awesome :) I played this so much back in the days...

    Great video!

  • do ufo; enemy unknown

  • I love Carmageddon. Luckily we could drive over humans, instead of zombies like germany.

Most of the time I didn't go for the race. I just ran over people lol.

  • what about twisted metal? >.<

  • do GTA !

  • I recomend covering whatever series of games lead to Fallout 1,2, Tactics, 3, and New Vegas because I love Fallout 3, and the first 2 games were pretty old.

  • How could u not mention the twisted metal series in the whole video

  • waiting on final fantasy 7 btw i recommend you do one for the legend of legaia for the ps1 but those two might be too new for you

  • Carmageddon 2 is one my favourite games of all times. The semi openworld tracks, custom races with no tracks (which then feel even more "open world" and the weapons, upgrades in the game made it a blast.

  • Hiring a hooker, then beating her to death, taking her money and gunning down everyone around. = OKAY.

Running people over in a futuristic killing car. = BAD.

    WTF?

  • Very interesting and informative

  • Lol he has the most american name ever but he sounds like u needs a more baddass name that that lol...

  • I love the way you say controversy!!

  • @Donut096 That's just the British way of saying it

  • no reference towards twisted metal??

  • do you buy and play all of these games stuart?

  • I want this guy to record a song. :P

  • a cross between twisted metal and burnout, awesome! keep up the great work ahoy!

  • I pity the childhood of people that didn't play this game.

  • A very entertaining video. I love your documentary style of narration. Well written. Very professional.

  • The countless hours of fun me and my brother had in that game (as well as most of the other post-1990 games mentioned as well) when we were younger. Ah, memories!

I can honestly say that Carmageddon is one of the main reasons for my love of gaming today!

  • 11:10 batmobile?

  • what happened to twisted metal?

  • I used to play Silkworm all the time, damn. This brings back memories.

  • Hire a hooker then beat her a with a baseball bat. What else do you do in GTA?

  • @mikethemikeful I know! Realism!

  • lol your voice sounds similar to the one of captain slow

  • "running ove pedestrians is more relistic than ever" great ! :)

  • You discuss car destruction and controversy, but you leave out the Twisted Metal series? I'm a bit saddened at this.

  • i remember playing this game never knew the name

  • Lemmings ftw

  • I would love you to cover Total Annihilation. Pretty please? :D

  • If you use the transcribe audio it says I'm still brown. WHAT THE BROWN!?!?

  • Scarey thing is i remember playing mkost of these games :)

  • I have this for the ps1 :)

  • @reiss1100 PS1 is the shittiest version of them all

  • no no, as a matter of fact, games are childish. what makes them adult like? can you learn from gaming? no. can you gain any skills that you can use in life? no. gaming is just childish fun. whats wrong with having childish fun though? nothing whatsoever, but i hate do break it to you, playing game is childish entertainment. everyone has a kid in them. why not let him loose from time to time?

  • @cman4145 "can you gain any skills that you can use in life" Sorry but, you can, resolution of problems, identification of objects, memory, hand and eye coordination, teamwork and some others can actually be gained in games, so there you go :)

  • @cman4145 Battlefield 3 teaches you how to work well in a team environment. StarCraft helps you with memory, reaction time, and multi-tasking. Minecraft allows you to have a creative outlet, and even teaches players architecture.

    I needn't say more.

  • @greatman3388 no. hand eye coordination... thats not from gaming. i bet you if i threw a ball at you, your reaction time would be the same, and if i told you to kick a falling ball, your hand eye coordination would be the same. team work, your not in full communication with other players, its just voices. minecraft does not teach architecture, thats a joke. its very difficult to get an architectural degree, but creative, yes. all of what you stated is true, but only in the game, not real life.

  • @cman4145 but so what gaming has little real life value, its fun, so who gives a crap. just dont say you cant learn from gaming because you cant or you learn very little. now developing the games, those guys are all engineers and computer science majors. aka very very difficult degree, but they get big bucks though.

  • looks like twisted metal... without guns

  • you know, graphics aside, it's shocking how GranTurismo implemented interior views starting with GT5, and even then only 250/1000 cars when games when a game from 1997 has that. I don't agree with Kaz's views on quality control - which is it's either perfect or it's not in the game cos it always ends up not being perfect anyway due to hardware limitations. Great series Stuart! :)

  • rock n roll racing on the snes was also very good ;)

  • There were only a few cars that you could take over (not counting the fact that you gett all vehicles ones the game was completed). Only a nitpick though :p

  • con trovicy =]

  • C1>C2>CTDR2k

  • This series is FANTASTIC.

  • Subbed.

  • this is amazing

  • This series is just astonishing Stuart, truly, I really hope you continue to work on it now MW3 is released, as far as in-depth game History and commentary goes, this is unique and the best it gets in video form on the web.

  • He sounds like the guy in How It's Made.

  • @Runkified ? my how its made has a girl lol

  • @TheChemicol Plus a stick

  • Great feature there Sir, the only thing I am surprised about is you never mentioned the Twisted Metal series, as that really pushed Car combat into the console mainstream.

Also why no mention of the PS1 and N64 versions of Carmeggeddeon, they're "technically" different games.

  • you are awesome!:D great job!!

  • Carmageddon & Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse now, best vehicle games ever! :D

  • they should remake this game this is awesome and the reason why my friends parents still hates me

  • I was a bit disappointed with the exclusion of Twisted Metal, like others. Why did you leave it out?

  • Can you do a video with the Classic Prince of Persia? (Apple II / MS-DOS) that would be awesome

Thumbs up if you agree so he can see

  • I remember playing Carmaggeddon 1 with my cousin i was then like 6 or 7 years old.

  • Just saw your face in the CoD XP Burger Town Machinima video. You're not the same guy I imagined.

  • I had destruction derby 2 for the ps1

  • The Police 'Enforcer' 6-wheel-vehicle is one you are actually able to steal and add to your car inventory, it is just next to impossible to achieve as you are only given a single race near the end of the game to try to do it before you complete the game and unlock it anyway. I know this because I've done it.

  • No Twisted Metal?

  • You play on EASY :P ;)

  • turn on transcribe audio at 0:22

  • Carmageddon 2 has an iron maiden soundtrack? Must get game!

  • I remember my brother letting me play this back in 1999. I was four

  • BLASEMPHY!

Mentioning GTA but no mortal kombat? -.-

  • It is slightly disappointing you didn't mention the Twisted Metal series.

  • sorry no "like" and didnt subscribed because of commercials

    no support for commercial channels

    get free man

  • @kaif140 I hate ads as much as you but face it, ads keep this site free just instal an adblock addon for firefox

  • Can you please do a Tekken episode of game over? :D

  • this reminded me of twisted metal. maybe you should do that sometime.

  • Great Job, you put a lot of work into these and i'm always really captivated and entertained in these videos, but a little disappointed you didn't mention TWISTED METAL! I thought for sure that game was popular and relevant enough to be mentioned and is probably the most popular series in violent racing/shooting games

  • Mr. Ahoy you sound like the type of person who would enjoy the Forza Motorsport series.

  • OMG, I'm so looking forth to Lemmings, those games were awesome !

  • There is a similar java game. It's called Need for Madness.

  • I remember having Destruction Derby.

    Good times...

  • Ahh Death Rally was a great game, nostalgy!

  • D: omg Road rash brings back some memories i had that when i was 6

  • i want this game

  • road rash is fucking awesome

  • wow, I had no idea they plan a new Carmageddon in 2012, thanks for that XboxAhoy

  • @BenGenio Anybody can find information on Wikipedia in five minutes yes, but using that information as the only base point is not only lacking but not always accurate. You'd realize the effort he goes through to make his videos.

  • Wow well thanks for making this video. When I was a kid I used to play Carmageddon but over the course of three moves my computer and games were lost. In the last year or so i wanted to play Carmageddon again if only for the nostalgia but I couldn't remember the name. Seeing this video I'm finally going to go get it ^.^ thanks.

  • squee lemmings!

  • Lol, I loved Lemmings, even though it's older than I am. I'm glad you'll be covering it next

  • another channel? :O :D

  • @EssArJayBee He has 3 channels

  • Personally, i never really got into the Carmageddon series, probably because it was a bit before my time- but i definitly think that 2 of the series mentioned is still underated for what they are/were. The Destruction Derby Series (especially no. 2) and Interstate '82 were very very addictive, even if they weren't as cutting edge or as good as some other series. But great video as always Mr. Brown o7

  • chuck of metall traveling at high velocity lawl love your brainz :)

  • lol Talk about timing... JimPlaysGames just covered this game and got me all excited about it.

I still haven't played it, but it really does look like a ton of fun.

  • I loved this game as a kid

  • OH SHIT I LOVE LEMMINGS I CANT WAIT!

  • Didn't know fisticuffs was a real word.

  • You rock sir. You rock.

  • Given that you're generally rather monotone, you get very unnaturally excited when talking about beating prostitutes with a baseball bat at about 9:27

  • How did you not talk about twisted metal? :( it was my favorite as a kid

  • Oh yes the real Carmageddon, not the apparent end of the world as far as LA is concerned <_<

  • Yeah they were good at the time but i downloaded Twisted Metal (PS1 originalally) and it was awwwwful. Good for its time but games are so much better now

  • @maarc3D That's why I can't understand why people completely tard over games like the original Zelda because the new ones are so much better.

  • @CapitanHappypants they were decent when they were released but it'd be like riding a horse everywhere instead of a car.

  • Con-trah-ve-say

    Ohhhhhhh so awesome.

  • Could you also cover "Have a n.i.c.e. day"?

  • I was born in 1985 and this was one of the first games I played. Those realistic graphics were amazing!!!! But: Frogger FTW ;-)

  • i still remember how they were bashing it in the news in my country. bought it the next day

  • man i wish i could get carmageddon for mac. Anyone have any leads?

  • PS I remember PC Zone used to always bang on about Ibterstate 76 & I liked the sound of it, but this is the first time I've actually seen a clip of it.

  • Aw man I'd forgotten how truly hateful the underwater mines were. Lost so many races bouncing around between them.

I also still remember being really impressed that you could take the game cd out and put music ones in. As the only cd I owned at that point in 97 was Republica, the two are indelibly linked in my mind.

And finally, Destruction Derby seemed so ahead of its time and doesn't look so shabby even now.

  • After watching these I'm astonished at just how much work you put into these. Maybe not purely from a game-play standpoint, but the research involved behind it all. It's well done.

  • @KimeraDrago Nowadays its very easy to find information on the Internet. I bet most of his narrative can be found on websites like Wikipedia. The rest is his opinion of the game.

  • Destruction derby was THE SHIT back in the day! :D Awesome video, yet again!

  • C'mon Mortal Kombat was one of thr games that lead to the creation of the ESRB. Why didnt you mention that?

  • How could you not mention twisted metal?... They were released around the same time and Twisted was in my opinion the best of all car combat games.

  • demolition darby

  • That last second puzzled me.

Suicide simulator? What twisted shit are you going to...

    oh.

    Awesome!

  • carmaggedon was so epic.

    twisted metal just wont do.

    make a new one please!

  • Dude this series Deserves so much more attention.

  • That game was AWESOME :D

  • Jesus, you're videos are amazing. I know you hear this all the time but love your accent! When I watch your videos and listen to your voice, I feel like I'm getting smarter! :P

  • OMG! I had destruction derby!

  • I will like this forever.

  • That game was so awesome.

  • I used to love this game, and Carmageddon 2

  • Loved Road Rash. That's a game I would love to get on the Xbox Live arcade.

  • FINALLY. ANOTHER AHOY VIDEO.

  • I've got this game on a PC compilation that I bought to get X-com Apocalypse. I've never played it but I think I'll got back and give it a go after seeing this.

Love some of the other games you showed in this video, especially Supercars 2 on the Amiga. Would love to play that again but I don't have a copy anymore. Also, seeing those stunts and jumps in Carmageddon reminds me of Stuntcar Racer on the Amiga. Now that was another cool game.

  • gotta love GTA being included in here used to play that game for hours on end just mowing down people and avoiding the police, great work as always Retro/Xbox ahoy!!

  • Stuart do you think of maybe making a review of a nes, snes or n64 review?

  • Theme Hospital needs to be on this list!

  • after hearing Stuart talk about a cargame for some time he almost sound like James May

  • OMG I FORGOT ABOUT THIS GAME!!!! I GOT THIS FOR MY 16th BIRTHDAY!!! I FELL IN LOVE!! THANK YOU :D i will be playing this as soon as i find the back up copy i made on a FLOPPY!!! YES FLOPPY!!!!

  • Great video stuart! cant wit for your vids on cod elite. Carmageddon 2 wasted hours of my life in jr. high... lol thanks for bringing this fun game back to people who may have never heard of it.

  • gta1 good times
