This interpretation, if the piece is considered as a scherzo, is a more humorous interpretation than the composer's in my opinion - and whatever way Amirov decides to communicate with his audience is fine with me, as long as he doesn't come across as arrogant, which he doesn't. Brilliant playing and technique too, to my ears at least.
This guy is certainly having fun interpreting...for those here who have criticized him saying he is no good and lacking.....well, I think you should think again. I am sure if he wished to play these pieces in a strict, more traditional way, he certainly could and has....but most likely he felt the need to expand and express HIMself through the old music in his own ways.....I think it's fine to do so occasionally, even with these types of compositions.
I don't agree with talonboy, Hamelin himself has a great sense of humor, and Amirov gives a good rendition of his piece, although he plays it different.
lol I watched this again and its even funnier the second time. The fist punch part is so well prepared for, and how he straightens his hair after, hell he's even laughing.
If you think this is a serious musical performance, you're a moron.
interestingly enough, pretty accurate mechanism. play abit faster, and he could give the likes of Lang Lang a run for their $!
But i could almost wholeheartedly agree with pianostudent7 that his music comes straight from his ass. bit crude, but that sums up his brand of showmanship. there's the notes, but no levitating delirium, no kaleidoscopic bitonality!
?..He's a clown...he plays so fast and generates confusion,he's playing is not clear and so nervous, his performances are generally mediocres...he's simply an exhibitionist.
@toomash . So let me get this strait. He starts off by looking like Noah, then starts playing the piece like a kid with down syndrome. And ends by a fucked up verison of liszts etude?
i cannot stand this performance ..way too blurry in a lot of sections ... my play this difficult piece if has not been mastered? Very few have Hamelin's technique, and this one defintely does not have it yet..

This is a true "scherzo" .... a musical joke, and Amirov plays it brilliantly, enjoying the hell out of it as he should. Superb!

I don't think Hamelin would be pleased to find out that his piece got involved in this.
