Pug,

Some Sony cameras won't work due to driver compatibility but hopefully yours will. You need to hook up via FireWire and place the camera in playback mode to directly import via IMovie. Oh, and anyone that says Macs are junk can stuff it as they have obviously never used one.

Chris Once your camera is connected to MAC you should be able to copy movies from the drive the camera comes up as. Then import video into the iMovie antler thingy. I shot a video and post it if you let me know if you still can't get it to work.

Hey pug for your imovie Plug your camera in. Go to File > Import > Movies

Then go to devices (or where your camera comes up), Go into it and find your video files. Then import them. That will create a new project. Im pretty sure how thats done. If not il get back to ya bud.

wow, that Jimbo's crew works fast!

My videos come off of my camera, onto my mac and automatically get uploaded to my iphoto app.

Once I launch imovie, it syncs with iphoto and will play all movies within my iphoto library.

Here's what I do. When you hook up the camera, open up iMovie. Select import from camera. The built-in camera always comes up first. I then wait a couple of minutes for it to recognize my camera. Then I can download the footage. At least that's the way it works for me.
