Could somebody answer this for me? Im confused.

I understand not having the young be forced into Social Security, and let them have private accounts.

But when Newt says increasing employment will help fun SS, are they forced to auto-pay into SS as well? If so, who is going to pay for their own SS when they retire, since the young will be having their own private accounts?

@superlucci You will have the chance to opt out of receiving SS when you retire. You still pay some of what you are already paying to SS to pay for people on it now but also some of that money will go into a private acct with your name on it. Private investments will make way more money than what you will get if you paid into SS your whole life. Also unlike a private acct, under the rules of SS if you live to be 64 years and 364 days and die you, & more importantly your heirs, WILL GET NOTHING!

Throughout the debate Newt got the most raucous applause. His message resonates. But MSNBC, like all the media — EVEN FOX NEWS (eg. Chris Wallace) will do everything they can to minimize his chance.

So, I think it would be fair to say that people who are hearing Newt in these debates think much more highly of him than the media will allow themselves to portray him.
