I lived in New Orleans years ago and love to come back and visit. Hopefully when Obama becomes president he can help in the recovery of this great and unique city.
Awesome video, just came back from a nice weekend in N.O. for Mardi Gras. I'm from Baton Rouge, LA and will be voting tomorrow, Mr. Obama has my vote! GeauxBama!!
Killerbees, I don't want to be a party pooper (believe me, I'm ALL for Obama, and have been since 04) but John Edwards started and ended his campaign in our great city of New Orleans...so you aren't exactly right in that regard.
I cant beleive how he speaks like that. Hes a very smart man. I am 12 yrs old boy from canada my father is from east-africa like Obamas father. Please Americans give him a chance. Thank you
See him absorb the stories of the people and take them with him into the campaign. He learns and he loves. You can see the relief in the people's faces. It's like a balm, to finally be paid reverent attention and respect from someone who could help. He really makes people feel like "Yes, we can!"
This man represents the moral philosophy of our Nation, and by going back to New Orleans to try to rebuild it, he shows us his capacity of representing all of American Communities!
This man represents the moral philisophy of our Nation, and by going back to New Orleans to try to rebuild it, he shows us his capacity of representing all of American Communities!
Abe Lincoln. JFK. Barack Obama is on that level. I attended a rally with seven thousand people in santa barbara Saturday, and I have never heard anyone speak as eloquently as correctly and the state of affairs in this country. He is not a politician, he's a leader. I shook his hand and I looked him in the eye. I saw a human being.
I have never been inspired by a politician in my lifetime. Never. I feel like a kid again, like maybe there really is a future for America.
Its sad how little America has helped to helped out the cities that was affected by Katrina. Yet the Bush amristaration did so little to help out. Obama looks like he can help make America a great place.
In the upcoming election, two unusual candidates are running for office- presidential office: A 'black' man and a woman.
It's high time our country got away from the strict white man president policy that we seem to be sticking to. We haven't done to well have we? I mean, look at Bush. Please, just look at him. And watch for a little bit, if you can keep a straight face.
What is so interesting about what the young woman said about being there for change is so ironic because near the same time Bush came and said something like, When your not here very often there are lots of changes that you folks working and living in NOLA don't see because they are individually small. The "trust my distance from reality" is a further failure to inspire.
I am Canadian and I support Obama. People ask why I support him if I am Canadian. Whoever gets elected as the American president will affect the entire world.
I love you all, but I *oppose* federal funds for building below sea level, building on flood plains of rivers, building on wetlands that are truly subsiding into the gulf of mexico. If its so GD important to the residents or the regions, they should pay. Cut the Pentagon, Cut the "public works", tax the rich and establish universal healthcare!
This man is a revolutionary and fights for the people. I wish I was American so I could vote for him. If there was anything I could do for him I would do it.
Operation Freedom Huh? Nuclear Weapons sounds like a familar story. I feel sad for our under educated soldiers here in America. They fail to see how the war has crashed internal enemies and created a huge national debt. How can you help build another nations economy when our economy here needs reconstruction the most? Look at new orleans? Wow!
If politicians like this were honest, they would look New Orleans in the face and say:
By Law, funding for the leeves was the responsibility of the Congress and the Senate. Presidents are not responsible for that. We Senators and Congressmen are. We and the local government, screwed up. Do you hear Obama saying it? If he was honest he would.
Think if we bought a few less bombs or some jets, we could easily rebuild New Orleans, and invest in some real infrastructure. Not to mention how many jobs that could be created. but i guess that's too much to ask??
Obama is just another corporate candidate that talks of change. Did anything change with 8 year of the Clintons? Nope. Vote for a real candidate in 08: Kucinich, Paul or Gravel in 08.
Great video. Obama is a keen dude. If Ron Paul doesn't win the Republican primary I'll probably vote Obama in the election. But I wont really care who wins :-/
The only thing I remember about ex Pres, Jimmy Carter was the remark everyone poked fun at him for and that he rolls up his shirt sleeves working to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. Senator Obama asks us not to wait upon the governement but make a donation or volunteer today. Another reason to vote Obama.
Two long years after a national catastrophe. Still so many children without possibility to go to school. Still no infrastructure. To me it seems there is a racial motivated delay of effective help on rebuilding certain parts of New Orleans ?
I am forced to ask myself:
What kind of nation is this ?
Is this the 21st century ?
Is the government really aware about their own constitution ?
If these politicians were honest they would say to the people of Louisiana:
"We screwed up!" If these Senators were honest, they would come up front and say:
"For millions of years we knew we had a problem. We never allocated money to fix the leeves, and if we did, the local government misspent it. It was the Congress' and the Senate's responsibility to do that (and not President Bush's, or any other president)"
If these politicians were honest they would at least tell the truth.for once.
how about we take all the money to rebuild in a place that will ...WILL.. flood again and instead of rebuilding we move and build a new city somewhere that wont. actually places dont flood, nature is to perfect for that, people just shouldnt live where they are not supposed too. lets build them a new city somewhere.
Why is it when and if you win the election your gonna do something about it,why not when your a U.S. senator right now and do something about it than talkin about it.Or are you trying to make your public image to win the election and be the first black in history, i bet you havent done nothing these past two years for N.O. but had to bring it up so you can win the election
Actions speak louder than words... this is the same thing as Bush using 911 to hold us emotionally hostage, but instead you use New Orleans to hold your own people emotionally hostage.
And I saw Bush today saying how much he had done for NOLA.
Barack is a leader I will follow and will vote for next election...NOT because of this or any other video...but for who Barack is, what his vision is and the unity he can provide this fractured country.
I miss New Orleans and the America I knew before Bush. It is criminal that there has been no one to be held accountable for the travesty of post-Katrina, and the gross and flagrant scandal of Iraq.
BTW, the French Quarter was not swept away. It was built above sea level and didn't flood.
It's ironic that Obama quotes the Sermon on the Mount especially the part about building on insecure shifting sands. That's exactly the problem with New Orleans. It was built on inherently unsafe land.
Rebuilding it exactly the way it was would be to compound the mistake.
What did bush promise the people there 2 years ago? That they'll help and won't leave until it's all built up!!! dumbass. Well Obama will make a change so just do some research and you'll know Obama is the one. I am so ashamed of bush.....

Doubt of whether Obama is going to be president does not spawn from any inadequacy he may have personally, but from inadequacy on the part of many Americans to know a good thing when they see it. Only he might be able to fix the damage done by the Bush administration, and the negligence of David Vitter (i.e. the deuchebag to end all deuchebags) towards the state of Louisiana.
