I love this song. From a musician's perspective, however, this is a really sloppy rendition. We can't know how much time the TV studio gave them for setup and sound check or how much the singer can hear on stage, but the levels are all over the shop (can't hear the second guitar, the first is blaring, bass is inaudible, cymbals are too crisp, vocals are too trebly, on and on), he goes flat in the crucial opening lines, and he even clips the mic halfway though. Chris always wrote the songs but the other guys played them. When Ted left the band he simply started carrying the guitar on stage.
I gotta hand it to the sound crews this is a great sounding performance - even after being uploaded to Youtube. Everything is clear and noticeable.
