@AreWeFamousNow Alas no, sorry. I do not have the time these days. However, if there is something in particular you would like more info on these drop me a message and I will try and help.
I created the Dalek in MAXON Cinema 4D, the background video is from a tutorial at Video Copilot by Andrew Kramer. I created a short animation in Cinema 4D with the Dalek and composited in Adobe After Effects adding sound to get the result you see.
@sonosaeterno Hi - the filmed footage used was from Andrew's tutorial, all I did was add my C4D NSD into the scene after motion tracking in Boujou. Hope this helps, if not message me for more info on the process used.
@pjoyce07 - I modelled the Dalek in MAXON Cinema 4D using plans from "Project Dalek" (see link above). Camera tracking was done in Boujou and imported into Cinema 4D so I could place the Dalek in the scene, animate it and render it. Rendering took about 17 hours as I used full animation GI and ambient occlusion although I have now got this down to about 6 hours. I've never used Blender but am sure you could achieve more or less the same result.
@freebearride Wow! That was a long time ago. One thing I did was NOT use the footage from AK as an image in the background in C4D, instead I rendered separate layers such as the basic image (the NSD) and the shadows. I then composited them with AK's footage in After Effects. that recued the render time a fair bit. Other than that it was down to using different GI settings. I referred to lots of tutuorials from MAXON to get the times down to the 6 hours.
tutorial?

I'm trying to export the cgi model with the alpha channel and the shadows but without the background so I can put it together in AE. Any ideas?

Very nice composite. Just curious, how long did this take? Did you model the Dalek yourself?
Is something similar possible in Blender, I'm not aware of many plugins for it yet?
All very impressive, keep up the work 5/5
