My concern, after seeing this video, is this. What if you are carrying condition 1, swipe the safety lever too hard, and accidentally decock the gun? That could really fuck up your shot. I typically can't hit a ****ing thing in DA mode, not to mention being pumped with epinephrine and fidgety as it is. I haven't actuated the lever myself, but it seems plausible in a stressful situation. Oh well, I prefer to rack the slide as I draw a holstered weapon, anyways.
I've put 100 rounds through a borrowed FNP-9 and it sealed my decision - I'm gettting one as soon as I can. I haven't heard a negative review of the FNP-9, including yours. I like the external hammer and the overall quality of the unit, but the accuracy is what really sold me.
i have this gun in the USG model (MS). i don't like the mag release, but it's certainly a beauty. haven't gotten it to the range yet, bc i want to clean it. :)) i've read nothing but good things about it, except it's hard to find a holster (but supposedly the XD 45 fits perfectly), and the mags are expensive. that's ok. 3 are enough for now!! :))
Old vid, I know. But I'm curious re. what led you to rule out the M&P, if you still recall. Also wondering how you like the FNP now that you've had it for a while.
The only minor complaint that I have on this gun is that the dust cover started to warp after putting close to 3500 rounds through it. The polymer material on this pistol is not as hard as other plastic guns and heat will cause this part to warp. This problem can be easily solved by reinforcing the dust cover with steel epoxy. Take it to a qualified gunsmith and have him work on it. Other than this warping, no FTF/FTE problems at all through 3500 rounds.
awesome choice man, last video i saw you were talking about best 9mm. Everyone was talking about a glock. Pretty much those are the ones who own a glock and dont have knowledge on any other guns.
No. Decocking the hammer with the lever returns it to "half-cocked" position. There is a small gear assembly that restricts the hammer from coming all the way down onto the firing pin. That being said I wouldn't trust my life to it as that hammer comes down really hard and any malfunction means you've got ignition.
@WashingtonXJ You will never have to worry about that because the FNP-9 has a firing pin block. This is like the glock in the way that only when the trigger is pulled can the firing pin move. Using the de-cocker is 100% safe at all times. This also makes the FNP-9 drop safe.
@ryan97303 There is a reason that AR mags are $10-15, the AR has been out for almost 50 years. The FNP has been around for 3 years and nobody makes stuff for them except FN which kinda sucks but give it time.
Have a FNP, put close to 2500 rounds through it with zero problems. Extremely reliable, accurate and affordable firearm. Bought it over a XD and Glock I also was looking at.
Still only 100 rounds. I havent had any time lately, but I just ordered a bunch of 9mm today and will get back to the range soon. You really cant go wrong with the FNP.
Yes and no. Glocks have no beaver tail which I think is a negative and I dont think the finish looks as good as the FNP. That being said I love glock mags and they are obviously proven weapons but I wanted something a little more special for my first handgun. I am looking into buying a G22 so stay tuned!
If your looking at a G22 spend a bit of time with a G23 in your hand. Some prefer the slightly smaller G23 grip. I've found that I like both equally. The more I shoot and hold Glocks the more the glocks grow on me. FYI For about $80 more you can get a Glock with factory night sight installed on them, ask your dealer.
Excellent review on this pistol. I bought the FNP .45 in the same finish and I agree with you about the quality and finish on this pistol. I would even compare the fit and finish on the slide equal or better than SigSauer quality. I really like the beefy slide rails too. Good luck with yours and very nice video! Hope to see more...thanks 5/5*

Would you mind me asking what that cost you "out the door"?

I noticed that your fnp-9 has front serrations, is this a newer model or something?

Looks like you have a newer production FNP. Mine came with the old box style.

Just got a new FN myself, super fun to shoot. my only complaint is that it seems to throw the spent brass back into my face.

if there is a chambered round, would decocking the gun with the lever fire off said round? the action looks like it would

Yeah I totally agree. Ive only handled Sigs, never fired, but the quality of the finish is no better than that of an FNP
