I finally used particular from transcode. I then set the settings and used it to generate particles. I started off with flames but that just was stupid and didnt look like it at all.  So went back to the drawing board and used particular. Adobe was easy to learn and I got to grips with it from within a day I would recommend anyone use it. Check my vid out and see what you think. I still think this is the best though.

He just filmed the way it happened in real life. Set a camera up to record it and that was it.

Not bad, would have liked to see facial changes and it was a bit brief but the sounds and the way it was edited together worked crazy well, and it's certainly better than I could have done (Is no good at SFX)

Try speeding your particles up - another good idea would be using Particular's motion blur option to add some streaking. It's usually a good idea to have more, smaller particles, & use a turbulence field to add some randomness. I'll he having a go with Particular myself, soon.

It's just playing with some particle presets in Combustion. You could use Particle Illusion, After Effect's Particle Playground or Trapcode Particular, and even some stock footage of fire to get something similar as a starting base.
