  • Great shot, entertaining and amusing video, but what about the actual photography details!? Camera lens, camera settings, filters, post-processing? C'mon man!

  • WOW!! that Came out Great... GREAT JOB..

  • lol he is shouting "stay with us stay with us'' its like she has a gun wound and she is loosing blood and struggling to survive

  • @khashy87 lolzzz

  • whats the setting of the white balance here? did he use a filter on the flash to balance it with the background? please help.

  • he reminds me of Jerry Springer =0)

  • wow love the pics

  • Wow! They did THAT from that?!?

  • great pics...omg love'em...

  • shots look to artificial for me...

  • @hulio1987 Surrealism was kind of the point. Put down the "photography as documentation" attitude and pick up "photography as art" instead; if you're a photographer, it will make your own shots a lot better in every genre.

  • @essellar it's tacky and fake, don't try with the "art" excuse.

  • @hulio1987 Dumb ass.

  • nice shoots! ;)

  • baller!

  • isnt that a little dangerous for the assistant and others involved? if he falls in to the water with the battery and lamp.. I bet that would not be nice.

I think he should have protected or waterproofed the battery at least.

  • @fateless78 how about you be mine , mother fucker?

  • @fateless78 this is a legitimate observation, I have used a Q flash under the exact same circumstances, and I do waterproof everything, I think that Joe Mc Nally been who he is, forgot security on this one. In the other hand if you disrespect other peoples comments , you will get disrespect back.. plain and simple. Go watch the Fro or something else noob.

  • @estudio100rafa ok sorry I now think differently about you, ur not bitchy but I think u are gay. when you cry like this tell ur mommy to spank u in the ass u lil faggit. lol. watch out for the batteries. lmao..

  • @fateless78 what a massive ignorant idiot you are, these batteries are NOT 9 volt batteries like the ones in your dildo you idiot, these actually high power, high voltage lamps and are packed with warnings about how to use them.

  • @estudio100rafa The Quadra units and cables are weather sealed (even if the shoulder-slung battery pack isn't enough for you), and the battery isn't the main potential injury source in any case -- the most likely point of danger is the flash tube socket.

  • I want....

  • Is it possible to get this kind of results with speedlights and a softbox or arent they powerfull enough ?

  • @wackerguy yup

  • @dorkxxdavid Cool. got any pointers ? Size of softbox. Power on flash ? :)

  • what kinda lighting pole is that? is that monopod? what kinda product i should look for that kinda lighting pole with assistant?

  • is he using strobes?

  • @anties123 elinchrom quadra rx its a corss between a speedlight and a strobe. its great. portable, light and really powerful for its size! i elinchrom quadra rx a head is aprox 400w as opposed to canon 580ex i's 65w.

  • adriano gonçalves

  • good, otimo parabens

  • sick results!!

  • I have the same quadra, is wonderfull!!!

  • stunning results.

  • how to set flash power?

  • @phdphotograph88 Elinchrome uses Skyports that allow you to adjust the power right from the transmitter.... or you can ask your assistant holding the light!

  • I'd better to be out there!!

  • wowww, amazing. i want to have a shoot like this.

  • CANON 1D

  • @MsSerkan44 joe uses only nikon

  • heavy sw edit

  • gotta love the guy in the background maybe shooting fer the record buuuut nope the sunset .... good job man

  • Thanks a bunch Joel. Now I want an Elinchrom Quadra.

Now, which car gets sold first...

  • How???

  • this is so dope i plan on doing this with my elinchrom octobox

  • Amazing!

  • The background pop still? You mean the subject isn't blurry while the water is blurry? His shutter speed, from the looks of the water rushing in and the blur on it, was probably 1/4 or 1/8 second. The strobe was probably in second curtain to flash at the end of the shutter. So what you would do is meter for the sunset but keep the shutter speed up enough that the subject doesn't blur, and use a flash to illuminate the subject. And then lots of post, obviously to get the sunset like it is.

  • Joe what are your camera and light settings here to make that backround sunset pop still?!!!!

  • GO JOE GO! Love _The Moment It Clicks!_ Thanks.

  • @dwdallam great book right!!! Joe is unbelievable!

  • To that person that said he should be using the H4D-200MS, Joe McNally believes highly in the Nikon flash automation system. Can't do that with a 'blad.

  • This man i´ts amazing *.*

  • @4Firearms - bollocks !!

  • Amateur. Pros would be shooting with a H4D-200MS Digital Camera.

  • @4Firearms You're a dummy. Yeah beach shoot on the water with digi MF, you know the latest SI swimsuit cover was a Canon?

  • I mean kalefu

  • @4Firearms Lol. Troll. Real pros use 8x10 large format view cameras!

  • @4Firearms a pro can shoot with whatever the hell he wants.

  • @4Firearms th 200MS shifts the sensor and is therefore not suitable for moving objects. bitch you are the amateur...

  • AMAZING!

  • very nice shot sir :D

  • I would have bitched at that guy booming my light for wiggling all over like michael J Fox. Christ.

  • @thestorey Well if you would tke the time to look at whats going on, you would see that he actually did exactly what a good assistent would do - Make sure the light was always focussed on the subject even when the subject moved around!

  • what wide angle lens was this please ??

  • @rugidimages looks like a Nikon 14-24mm 2.8

  • What does the hooded diffuser do? i just got one for my 100 deep octa. How does it effect the light?

  • Are those photos SOOC?

  • @IsaacMaganaMusic No, they've been processed.

  • @IsaacMaganaMusic Of course not. Probably as far from SOOC as you can possibly get. But great pics none the less.

  • What white balance did he use ? or is it all post processing to even out the color balance?

  • killer shot

  • Would you recommend a D-Lite it 4 as a starting Flash, until later I can get the RX

  • Wow... P7000 worked very nicely.... Heard so much bad things about the camera but looks great to me. Well done.... and your pics too...

  • You're probably tired of hearing/reading this Joe, but your work is TRULY INSPIRING!!!

  • Awesome shoot with awesome results.... Great work as always...

  • Was the flash gelled? Shots were amazing.

  • @maxaries probably so. The light on her is warm.

  • we just got these at school! small, lightweight, and powerful. And they are free to rent, awesomeness!

  • Mr McNally, your video is now in iso1200.com magazine.

  • I would love to get my hands on that pack and head. They are so small and compact. But very very expensive.

  • Awesome as always!

  • Smokin' hot!

  • put a smile on my face :)

  • beautiful

  • Thumbs up for RJD2!!!

  • Always the best!

  • wonderful work. i love all your books too

  • God bless you Joe! THE NUMBER 1 \m/....ROCK'N'ROOOOLLLL

  • Who would have thought it... they turned out amazing.... damn you Joe.... you must have a really good camera!!!! ((joking... joking...))

  • Actually its a basic setup which means every photographer can easily obtain it but the results is always amazing.

    Always remember:

    1. Location assessment

    2. Light forces

    3. Colour

    ...

    Keep on Joe!

  • Are you using HDR here? What were your camera settings?

  • @Apache1974 dude...

  • @pzcato ???

  • Perfect as always!!!

  • Joe's wet :P

  • what I like about this is that although I've been following you for many years we don't often get to see how a master interacts with their subject. I would love to see more of this because this can be a far trickier skill than balancing ambient with flash while dragging the shutter to create motion in the surf.

  • Amazing as always Joe!! Nothing more left to say :)

  • Brilliant photos Joe, that's why your the Master...

  • genius at work. Nicely done Joe, you are one of the best out there.
