The exhaust is a combination of pipercatback with middle silencer removed and just a pipe with a 5" tip on the end to look nice as a backbox which created all the noise. Cat converter was stil on so dnt kno how much louder it wud hav been if that was out :D

i have a ZR 4 year n 4 months mate and ive had no problems with it just new tyres, any car will break in the end with a lead foot tbh. unless u pay more than 20k u mite be ok. at the end of the day your only gunna spend max 4grand on an mg.

Heyup m8 they are good cars but if your not good with the spanners then they are expensive. The headgasket is a problem but if you can fix it then it only costs £80 for parts or £400+ at a garage. PPL only say bad things about them because they cant fix cars. If you use a lotus headgasket then it'll never go again :D.

Think the rovers 200 and 400 had honda engines. Rovers copied the same suspension setup on honda's. the ZR or 25 has the same suspension as the honda concerto and the 400's has the same as an EG, EK Civic
I bought a piper cat back system for mine but replaced the middle section silencer with just pipe and got a cutom made back box with realy only was pipe bent into position with a 5" tail pipe welded on the end for looks. You shud get the same sound. Dont do the same with the origanal exhaust because the pipe is thiner than the piper exhaust and sounds tinny as fuck
The last exhaust that wa on I had it tested at a car show and it wa 94db. this was twice as loud. Think a jet engine is a hell of alot more louder than that. Plus the fact its abit hard for them to get a mic close enough to test a jet engine :D

By law you are required to has at least one silencer on any british motor. Plus be below 70 to 80 db i think :s this was about 150 to 60 db so if you do see the plod then ride the clutch :D

as long as the system has no silencers from the cat-back then yea it will sound the same. The pipe on this was a couple of mill bigger larger than standard :D

heyup m8 I still had mi cat on m8 just get a straight through pipe from cat back. There is a slight drop in power as n/a engines need back pressure. As for the warning light you can purchase a decat cable for £20 that gets rid of it. I recomend cams and an ECU remap for max performance instead of eco friendly :D
Thats the problem most folk make. They add air filters and exhausts and dnt get there ecu mapped to suit so the car ends up running to rich and fucks up the rest of the engine. Always get your ecu looked at on a dyno when ever you modify any part of the engine if its guna be a daily driver

Why dont you use a exhaust cutout?...fully loud if you want and standard quiet when you want, electric controlled flick of a switch. Best of both worlds. search exhaust cutout on here
also i thought if u go to powerflow and say yer this is wat i want doing wat happens if they say "we are not aloud to make the car illegal our policy is to make the car legal" but guss u have had it done so they must do it also how long would they have my car for. cheerz also my mates are gutted to see a mg zr that loud as they have saxo's.
my car was only in powerflow for about an hour coz i only had the back box done as i had the center section done somewhere else so id say about 2 hours/ish. It would fail the m.o.t like this but i still had both the catalysts in and i had a piper silenced back box which I changed for the m.o.t and it passed fine. I would also recomend that you get a 4-2-1 manifold as this would remove the pre cat on the manifold. I never got around to doin that.
I like saxo's but im not keen on the torshon bar suspension on the back. I know a guy who had the rear converted to fit coilovers and that was sweet. The MG is a sweet car tho sticks to the road like glue. jus make sure the oil is changed every 6000 miles and watch out for the head gasket. If your topping up your water like twice a month then its ready to sell it or fix it. Mine lasted upto 65,000 miles before i noticed this so i sold it

i had a straight through cat back system on my 1400 ZR but the exhaust note was nothing like this!
if you just want loud though then i guess its a good option?? or just get your backbox completely straight through as well... that loses even more exhaust note than this has but is louder!

Hi there it started out as a Piper cat-back system but wasnt loud enough. I saw power increase with it because of the larger diameter pipe. I got the silencer taken out of the middle section and went to powerflow and got the same diameter pipe without a silencer with a 5" tip on the end.
Its still Had both cats in place and the standard manifold
Ive heard the same set-up but with the standard exhaust pipe mofied like this but it sounds to high pitched and tinny.
just straight through after that. Just pipe with no silencers basicaly with a tip of your choice welded on the end to make it look nice only will cost £200 to do.
i got a mg zr 1.4 and im 17 and i want the loudest i can get it, i have never heard 1 that loud if wat u said is true. where to buy it and wat to ask for then hopefully i will have soon, so u said for the straight through it cost £200 with a nice tip too.
powerflow did my exhaust was £90 for the back box and the middle section just got my silencer removed but powerflow would probably make a middle section for between £100-£110 its just simply straight pipes from the cat back cheers for commenting will put a smile on ur face wen u first hear it just clutch in when u go past cops (hehe)

i have a ZR 4 year n 4 months mate and ive had no problems with it just new tyres, any car will break in the end with a lead foot tbh. unless u pay more than 20k u mite be ok. at the end of the day your only gunna spend max 4grand on an mg.

my car was only in powerflow for about an hour coz i only had the back box done as i had the center section done somewhere else so id say about 2 hours/ish. It would fail the m.o.t like this but i still had both the catalysts in and i had a piper silenced back box which I changed for the m.o.t and it passed fine. I would also recomend that you get a 4-2-1 manifold as this would remove the pre cat on the manifold. I never got around to doin that.

I like saxo's but im not keen on the torshon bar suspension on the back. I know a guy who had the rear converted to fit coilovers and that was sweet. The MG is a sweet car tho sticks to the road like glue. jus make sure the oil is changed every 6000 miles and watch out for the head gasket. If your topping up your water like twice a month then its ready to sell it or fix it. Mine lasted upto 65,000 miles before i noticed this so i sold it

i personally couldnt stand it if my zr sounded like this!!
i had a straight through cat back system on my 1400 ZR but the exhaust note was nothing like this!
if you just want loud though then i guess its a good option?? or just get your backbox completely straight through as well... that loses even more exhaust note than this has but is louder!

you should go in the car, and to be honest the camera used wasnt top quality with sound, btw thats my corsa :D he has a vid of that too, gary get it put on :D

Hi, Nice vid.
What Exhaust system have you got on there?
Are you using a standard manifold with de-cat pipe?
Is it a full system on there or just a back-box?

Hi there it started out as a Piper cat-back system but wasnt loud enough. I saw power increase with it because of the larger diameter pipe. I got the silencer taken out of the middle section and went to powerflow and got the same diameter pipe without a silencer with a 5" tip on the end.
Its still Had both cats in place and the standard manifold
Ive heard the same set-up but with the standard exhaust pipe mofied like this but it sounds to high pitched and tinny.

So, its still just a cat-back? but a straight through powerflow version instead right?
Have any of the cats (manifold precat or after cat pipe) been replaced with straight through pipes?

No its got standard manifold, Standard cats.
just straight through after that. Just pipe with no silencers basicaly with a tip of your choice welded on the end to make it look nice only will cost £200 to do.

i got a mg zr 1.4 and im 17 and i want the loudest i can get it, i have never heard 1 that loud if wat u said is true. where to buy it and wat to ask for then hopefully i will have soon, so u said for the straight through it cost £200 with a nice tip too.

powerflow did my exhaust was £90 for the back box and the middle section just got my silencer removed but powerflow would probably make a middle section for between £100-£110 its just simply straight pipes from the cat back cheers for commenting will put a smile on ur face wen u first hear it just clutch in when u go past cops (hehe)
