  • this is why we should be open and kind to everyone. we never know people on the inside.. it's always good to hear nice words and you never know who you might meet :)

  • I find this inspiring. Issam holds to his dreams and his hopes and his passions, despite his hurdles. Despite everything, he will not let any any rain fall on his parade. Though the clouds storm, he weaves webs of glad wrap for his ideas, and smiles even at his damp dreams. Awesome. Dreams must be able to move if they are impossible. But people can also move toward thier dreams.

  • we are proud of you my brother we miss you so much

  • Salaam Aleikoum....

  • I'm so sorry for your loss joy. What a brilliant and humble man he was. God bless you.

  • WOOWT THE DIRECTOR IS MY UNCLE!

    My name is Sammy Kerr!

  • sometimes i regret being talented and blessed to have dreams and goals. Because as passionate as i am about the dream, the older i get, and more into life i get (kids and work etc) the further I am from the dream coming true. no matter how much work I put in to see it become a reality. So passion becomes punishment & dream becomes a nightmare. Wishing sometimes that i could stay sleep. It has to feel good to know youre living someone else's dream. Ever felt that your dream is just that? A dream

  • Issam I miss you so so very much. Will always be my heart and soul.

    Joy

  • exellent

  • Wow what a dedicated man!! I hope his dreams come true

  • omg. this story is true to me.

  • What a great story about an amazing man, his death is truly a loss to us all.

  • This has left me feeling empty inside, but that is, I think, the point of the video. There's been some (minor) talk about there being no wisdom in glass. I beg to differ. This same person has also said there is wisdom in trees, again, I beg to differ.

The point of this video, perhaps, is to serve to highlight the soul-crushing plethora of ideas and wisdoms in places like London. Where clever people are drowning in a sea of clever people, and a failur of some of those cleverp eople to make room.

  • Plethora might be the wrong word, sorry. Abdunance would be better.

  • @TrollOfReason or where clever people are drowning in a sea of overpaid overqualified narrow minded people.

  • as a street cleaner he looks as if he not doing too bad.

  • Wow, very deep and thought-provoking. I'm really having a hard time finding the right words to properly describe it. It's very sobering to hear of this man's poor luck finding a job despite his outstanding credentials and truly innovative ideas, and even more saddening to hear of his death. My heart goes out to his friends and family, as without them we would've never learned of this man's legacy.

  • Really great work, its great when people understand the meaning of some stuff even when its not present, but means a lot.

    Great Work.

  • Nonetheless, this is the zenith of explanations when it comes to people trying to get by. Sad, but good.

  • Ambition in London? There is no such thing. That city is the father of all lies. The wisdom's in the trees, not the glass windows.

  • Great Ground Work done by futureshorts. I feel Sorry for the Architect.

  • Jesus Christ that was so beautiful. A flm about ambition......

  • This is beautifully done, futureshorts. Sadly, I noticed that this is in memoriam. If I may ask, what happened to Isaam?

  • thanks for your interst in Issam - sadly he died on his way home from work in a road traffic accident involving his motor bike and a white van.

    Regards Joy - issam's wife

  • Joy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with us here. I hope some of his dream survives at least in this.

    Bless you.

  • Beautifuly done. It realy shows the person behind his workingclothes. A good reminder...

  • I love this film, showing the dream of people...

  • Wow, that is truly limbo. Not a rock bottom, but not on top. Crazy.

  • Very cool video, really sucks how he lost his drawings.

  • Moving film. Is it based on a real person? It's obviously not a documentary. Lots of folks have grand and beautiful dreams and ideas that nobody ever hears about. It's too bad that the dreamer's mind and the marketer's mind rarely come together in one person.

  • I HATE WHEN YOUR JUST TRYING TO DO SOMETHING GOOD AND NO ONE IS IN YOUR CORNER. THE MAN IS TALENTED AND HAD WENT TO SCHOOL FOR ARCHITECT AND NO ONE WILL EVEN GIVE HIM A CHANCE. hE HAS BIG DREAMS AND I HOPE THEY COME TRUE. OH THAT WAS SO SAD i'M IN YOUR CORNER.

  • what is so bothersome, is that many people with such amazing plans and the technical knowledge to create (not in just architecture) aren't getting the chance to do what they need to. like have garden rooftops etc etc, would be amazing.

  • Very sad, just goes to show that the people who are celebrities or who have alot of power arn't the only ones who can dream.

  • love you issam

  • It appears the man transcended strife in his everyday living. It's wonderful to have dreams so strong, and I am sad for his wife, but, I also envy her the opportunity she had to be with him.

I don't like tall buildings at all.

If the fire engines can't get to the top floors, then it is too tall!

But, I absolutely respect the dreamer!

  • So true about dreams. I can really relate.

  • This was nice, I really saw what he envisioned with the buildings and the monorail and the city in the sky, he had a real vision. It's such a shame that dreams are so difficult to come true...

  • i hate that feeling when you're desperately searching for something, but you just can't find it. your breathing gets heavy and everything is jumbled up. it's the worst. the ending is terribly sad, but i guess it's good that he was moved to action after the setback

  • I had the exact same idea about using the roofs, you could use the streets for traffic and the roofs with bridges for people, thus reducing traffic casualties to almost 0. And a better calmer and cleaner enviroment for humans.

  • How did Issam die??

  • Hi I am his wife - Joy and he died in a motorcycle accident on his way home from work - hit by a white van

  • Very sad, but inspiring, thank you.

I just found about Issam´s death.

If anyone is interested, you can find more info about him and the project at bbc co uk, 'Film network'.

    Cheers

  • GREAT SHORT .CLEVER AND DEEP SCRIPT .

  • Despair. I want to know what happened! I liked the buildings.

  • sad, is it based on a real story?

  • Great video!

so touching i hope all his dreams come true!

  • amazing - beautiful - heartbreaking - really well done. I think the missing papers are a metaphor for his looking to work in the field he was trained. Same as looking for an opportunity to do the work he loves. Just out of his reach - so good. Bravo, bravo.

  • you can either love that, or not understand it.

    it was amazing

  • um...what?

  • I liked it.

  • Naah... what was the point of this movie/documentery? :/

  • what is the lack of point? Don't lazy now.

  • ;D I have no idea, that was why I asked ^^ I dont know :P It just... we saw how he worked hard with two jobs and that he lost his good "arcitecture-drawing", he had some dreams for the city and he saw a women singing at the work? and his brother said some wise words... Im sorry, I just did´nt get it :/ Maybe I missed something, my english aint the best ^^

  • Well, even the opening is powerful. Great thoughts of a janitor, who has to work for social reasons. The contrast of the proud city center and the struggle of the immigrant. You can't sense it for some underlining reason.

  • Yeah I watched it again, and now it felt better. Must have watched the film lazy at first ;D But in my opinion it wasn't THAT good, but a long way from bad :P

  • clearly!

  • @churraheefilms

It shows you the injustices of the world. We think we live in a meritocratic society where effort and skill is rewarded. Yet, this man who has dreams, potential and the skills necessary, is never truly given a chance and is only able to do the most menial of jobs. Life as we know it, is unjust.
