  • sound's pretty bad considering that it is a rickenbacker. maybe a lot of noise in the background. set the levels better. good playing

  • nice. and on a Richy too....

  • Another entertaining performance. Way to tear it up!

  • I really want a Rick...

  • this song rocks, is just really fun to play it!

  • incredible, I love your Rick's tone on an edgy song like Bastille Day. One of my favorite Rush tunes, too.

  • great playing, lovely bass

  • Amazing cover! Thanks for this video, I'm using it to learn this song myself.

    Awesome Rickenbacker too

  • Great video! I had forgotten about this song... I so wanted a 4001 when I got my first bass back in '74 but a friend of my Dad's said that I should get a Fender so I ended up with a P Bass. I love P basses but always missed getting a Ric. Maybe some day...

  • Great performance!

  • nice job, good song choice

  • you seem to use distortion a lot. i prefer the rick-o-sound and jackin up the volume. im a guitarist but my dad fills me in on all his bass stuff. great cover though. how much you pay for the rick. my dads was $1600

  • @NinjaTurkey14

i dont think he used any distortion at all... what your hearing is the treble boost. its what gives the ric its sound

  • Just to clear up some bits having bought my 4001 back in 1978 when it was still being produced. The 4003 model is close but not the same neck, headstock, nor neck pick up positon. Anyway - the Ric-O-Sound does nothing more than split the neck & bridge PU's so you must use a STEREO instrument cord in that jack. It's designed that way so you can play through a bass amp w/the Neck PU & a guitar amp w/the Bridge PU. Geddy DOES NOT use distortion, but DOES let the guitar amps drive which give grit.

  • Mine cost under $700.00 when I bought my 4001 back in 1978 which I still use to this day. I have no idea why your Dad's cost twice as much? All the other discussions about what the Ric-O-Sound does are incorrect, plus there is no treble boost on a standard 4001 or 4003. Please check out some of my 4001 instructional videos on exactly how and what the bass can do and sounds without any effect units. Just trying to clear things up for those who truly want to learn about 4001 Rickenbacker basses.

  • if we were neighbors I'd pester you all the time to jam.

  • i really needa learn this song, ive been holding it off for too long. if you want really good Rush tabs, Google "Rush Tablature Project" :)

  • very good men, very pretty your bass

  • Hey, you sound better than me playing this song but I think there were a few notes missing in the chorus and some wrong notes in the solo, although it still sounded very nice! Good job!

  • Sweet job man. Gorgeous bass.

  • Awesome skills and choice in songs, dude. Sexy bass too. I wish I had one.

  • Im more of a thrash metal kinda guy, but when you see some good bass playing, you just know it. so from one bassist to another, good job.

  • Wheres your amp?

  • On the floor.

  • @fcbv LOL

  • Well done my friend!!!

  • man you're pretty wicked.

  • hey im trying to learn it and all the tabs are wrong do u have a recomended site or can u send me the tab???

  • I'm sorry I don't use tabs. I don't really know which sites are the best but I bet some of the tab is good out there because there are a lot of Rush fans that care enough to make it right. I've just not got into tab myself.

  • chordie(dot)com has some ok ones

  • Incredible. I have a technical question.

For the triplets in the beginning of the song, are you using two or three fingers on the right hand?

    Thanks

  • Thanks! I use two fingers on the right hand.

  • awesome

  • I've listened to this song a million times and am thoroughly impressed with your playing. Way to rock bro!

  • Hey there! I've watched all your videos with the Ric bass and I really like them! I really, REALLY miss having Geddy play his Ric. One question: Which strings do you use to acheive that clasic Rush sound? I was told a long while back that Geddy used Rotosound steel roundwound.

  • Thank you! Yes, I use the Rotosounds too.

  • awesome

  • would love to hear you do some old funk man like brickhouse etc. killer tone and play!!!!!

  • Nice! I have a Rickenbacker 4001
