Im a dude, i will admit this movie touched me, and it still does everytime i watch it, in a way no other movie have, it's so real... definitly deserve the awards it's gotten, and in my opinion it should viewed as a legendary film, because of the comfort it can give to a depressed human, loads of creds go to Thomas Newman obviously.

Neil Young's version is not a version. It's the original. He wrote the thing, and recorded it when he was with Crosby, Stills, and Nash. And if you really want the best "version" of it. There's a live recording of just him in '71 from Massey Hall. Though I must agree this version is lovely, and Annie Lennox is totally amazing.

I am HUGE Neil Young fan; in fact, he & Joe Walsh helped me get thru the rollercoaster days of high school from 73-76'. Takes nothing away from the brilliance of Neil, it's just a reinterpretation. Her live versions have a lot more vocal punch than the studio release did, and you have to admit that she has a great voice. Personally I think the Lennox version has a more finished quality and the key changes are a better fit.
