THIS IS FROM WONHWADO AND WAS USED SINCE 1964 BY THE LATE WONHWADO FOUNDER GREAT GRAND MASTER HAN BONG KI. MAYBE THIS TAEKKYON STYLIST GOT IT FROM SOME WHD SOURCE NOT TAEKKYON.
you can see it when they hit or kick. they are pushing more than kicking (or maybe something like having two hits og kicks in one). when in other martial arts get hit you can tighten your muscles to make the hit minimal. when they first kick and then instantly push by using the momentum from those dance movements they have (quite fun to watch). it's extremely hard for the body to "minimalize" the hits when they do that. so making it a very deadly martial art
Yeah, it's kinda like, they have that snapping HIT to the kick, that physically hurts your body, but then they do the pushing motion that makes you fall over after. Two kicks in one, I like the way you said that. Taekkyun is definatly something you would need to practice a long time. It's legit, it's made to hurt people, no dout about it.
About the arm swinging, yeah, it looks odd, but real fighting doesn't look good. That kind of movement isn't complicated and is easy for your muscles to remember, and trust me, downward punches do hurt. I like this style, and I'm glad nobody has come on here saying "This wouldn't work in MMA!" and I am an MMA guy, and hate when those idiots represent us poorly. All martial artists are brothers, and there is something to be gained from every approach to fighting.
I gotta say... Your like the coolest MMA guy ever =D lol I really like this art, but I don't know if it would do that well in MMA because most combat arts don't. MMA is conqured by the sport arts, because it's a sport. Taekkyun is not a sport art, it was made to jack someone up, WHEN the practicioners wern't shooting you with arrows =) It's a very different art then MMA, it was made to hurt someone to the point of no return, some might know this as, killing =) But I LOVE MMA too lol
Hey man, I appreciate it. I always say the best way to beat the jerks is by not being one yourself, you know, just improving what you contribute.
All types of martial arts have purpose and validity, whether they're for self-defense, sport, demonstration, tradition, etc.
Being good in any of it takes hard work and dedication, and at the end of the day, that is what these arts are about, not whether this or that would work or whatever.
And the funny thing about the arm flapping/flailing is that that's the kind of thing you'd see kids doing when they're wailing on each other on a playground. Except the way he does it is much more refined and looks more painful.
Who is that teacher at 2:53! I've heard and seen sooo much about him! It's my dream to learn Taekkyun from him! Does anyone know how I can get in contact with him??
hi all i want to learn and practice this art martial! i live in peru and i want to be the best of the world now i am practice tae kwon do but i want to lear all korean martial arts i really like go there for lear but i dont have soo money!! i only can see this videos!
I also practice Taekwon-do and would love too learn Hapkido. Its really effective. But i would'nt get your hopes up, Taekkyun is guarded by the Korean's as a national treasure. It is rare that you find a Teakkyun practitioner, who teaches outside of Korea. But good look with that.
weight on eg your ankles strains your tendons and joints more than they're used to, which is bad ofc. water just makes it harder to move your leg but doesn't add any more weight to it so it's way more healthy.
wow that guy really is going thru hard times...after the filming he probably leveled up like thrice

why was ke kicking the water? this guy is gay
tkwndo55 5 years ago
you've never done martial arts I take it?
It's to increase his power, because the water is harder to kick through than air so when he kicks normally he'll be faster.
dsk 5 years ago
oh i see now. but isnt that what a heavy bag is used for?? i think a bit more resistance than only water
tkwndo55 5 years ago
No, the heavy bag is for training your body to get used to hitting something .. it doesn't actually speed up your kicks/punches.
The equivalent of the water training would be kicking with weights attached to your ankles, but doing it in water is less risky.
The best way is to do the resistance training while fully immersed in water, that way all parts of your body get built up equally.
dsk 5 years ago

also weights are placed on a certain part of your leg. water is all around you.
