@phillybaf WRONG, the u.s.c.g. boats must pass an inspection that is far above most offshore boats, even the voulunteer branch of the auxiliary must be inspected and most have to be modified to meet standards, actual coast guard boats usually have more floatation built in with bracing and backplating in many different areas, this is because they may have to be used in extreme weather and circumstances that would tear up a normal boat!

Actually, In times of war the Coast Guard is under the USN and during peacetime USCG is Under Dept. of Homeland Security, So it's a bit of both worlds.

I like the enclosed cockpit but Fountain should have used suspension seating. Nor-Tech is building Interceptor craft based on their 43'V and the officers raved about the suspension seats. One officer said he'd been in the CG for 20 years and never sat down to drive a boat until he drove the NT. Lots of spine and leg injuries with regular seats but no more!

CG didn't spend not one tax dollar on these machines. Now if you know someone in the CG who has some pull to purchase some of them. Let me know. We at Fountain would be more than happy to set them up with a Fleet then Camo4x4s and myself could get aerial and boat to boat shots for an even better video.
But I'd much rather be in the coast Guard as a captain of one of these ships then the 200 ft ones, that's just my opinion
