I'm not officially a Tea Partier but I do agree with their basic premise of less government, less taxes and less interference by the government (often misguided and not helpful). I really don't care about other minorities except when their "rights" supersedes my rights. I want to see everyone treated with dignity and if not respect at least with politeness. We need to stop looking at what our differences are and focus on our commonalities instead.

But they want laws limiting the freedoms of people's private lives, such as who is allowed to marry whom, and attempting to eliminate Islam from the United States (the anti-Muslim, war with Islam rhetoric fuels this). The party does and lobbies very differently from what it says it wants.

I'm not officially a Tea Partier but I do agree with their basic premise of less government, less taxes and less interference by the government (often misguided and not helpful). I really don't care about other minorities except when their "rights" supersedes my rights. I want to see everyone treated with dignity and if not respect at least with politeness. We need to stop looking at what our differences are and focus on our commonalities instead.

American Muslims are just that- Muslims living in America. They are on our side.
Some people tell the good Muslims to speak out and not be so silent against the terrorists. But why? Are they guilty until proven innocent? Do they need to parade around with big banners and stars publicly denouncing Al Qaeda, Taliban, etc. or otherwise they are presumed to condone their actions?
That's total guilt by association and by generalization. Good Muslims do not owe us anything. We owe them our trust.

But they want laws limiting the freedoms of people's private lives, such as who is allowed to marry whom, and attempting to eliminate Islam from the United States (the anti-Muslim, war with Islam rhetoric fuels this). The party does and lobbies very differently from what it says it wants.
