than 500 fps, no? Secondly, paintball guns look retarded and unrealistic.

Airsoft guns can look like real guns and the amount of money you put into

a high quality paintball gun, you could get a full metal airsoft gun.

Thirdly, you can get airsoft guns from $1 to $500, while paintball guns

area would cause the force exerted from the gun to be focused all on that small point, While the paintball

explodes, it causes a large radius of surface area, and therefore less-focused pressure on your skin.

Meaning it can't penetrate your skin, nor cause as much force as a BB could.

I played (and play) both, paintball with rent guns, airsoft with my own.

While Paintball hurts more at range (and most importantly, leaves visible mark on clothes) due to the pure kinetic energy, the Airsoft can cause significantly more damage up close due to smaller size (penetration).

It all depends on range.

No airsoft won't penetrate clothing, but it easily penetrates skin up close, like my hands without gloves.

Most people assume that paintball hurts more due to the fact that it it played at a much closer range than airsoft. Basic physics say that a BB should theoretically hurt more due to the fact that all of the force is concentrated into a single point. For example, BBs have damaged my clothing from 20m.

We don't play to get hurt though, do we? Pain ruins fun.

The majority are metal with a recoil system and a realistic action. Most of them are produced in the US or Taiwan. Also, real-cap mags are available. Most 5.56mm assault rifles hold 30 rounds per magazine, and real-cap mags reflect that. A BB is 6mm, a NATO round is 5.56mm. Not much difference, more realism. Finally, airsoft was recently classified as a sport.
