I'm a buyer and I'm so upset that Ebay holds money for 21 days unless buyer leaves a feedback. I have busy schedule and not always can make time to access my account. Most of the time I'm happy with my purchase and feel bad that seller has to wait so long to get the money.
Have no idea why these companies with such successful start, end up committing suicide!!!

i have sold on ebay for years with no problems until the last couple years. people "claiming" not to get their items, or even better yet DEMANDING there money back without sending the item back! are you kidding me?!! i had a women write me an email saying she never got the item even though i had a tracking number that said different. she said well unless you want me to leave neg feedback i suggest you refund my money. i did refund and guess what..she still left neg! and had my item! what BS!

I had a buyer buy a expensive expresso machine from me and break a couple of the parts after they had it for 5 days. I had all kinds of proof that i sent it in perfect condition including a video of me packing the item in perfect condition just in case the item was damaged in shipping or the buyer tryed to pull on over on me. WELL the seller 5days after recieving it toled ebay it didnt work. Ebay didnt even want to see me video. They just took the money out of my acount and gave it to the buyer.
Ebay use to be a safe place for sellers and buyers. But now its only safe for the buyers. ALL they have to do is say the item was not what they expected they have over 7 days to play with it before they have to contact you about not wanting it, and you have to take it back even if its exactly how you described. AND you dont get the shipping it cost you to send it to them back so you are out the shipping. HOW DO THAT MAKE SENSE. Even if the seller dos everything right you still get screwed over.

I filed a complaint with the attorney general of michigan and they replied that there wasnt enough "evidence" to go forward with my complaint, what? The U.S. is the only place where Ebay, a thrird party site can force a seller to use Paypal...They say it helps prevent fraud, yet when I asked them specifically about how much fraud occurs on the site...they had "no information to provide me"...I feel like the guy in the 1984 book...2 plus 2 doesnt make three Ebay...goodbye to good deals on ebay.
I love how in the U.S. Ebay forces its sellers to use Paypal for payment. Of course they now own Paypal and get yet another cut of the sellers money. Pay pal holds money for 21 days ..unless theres feedback from the buyer, also UPS can speed the payment when delivering the product, i understand the buyer has an amount of time to complain if not the payment goes right thru.

Ebay is too expensive. Their transaction fee per sale on the buy it now option is 4.9%, plus you have to pay a listing fee. Also, when you sale a product for sale, people can just add it to the watch list, and then wait for someone else to sale and advertise the same product.

ebay uses its paypal to extract more money from your sales. They send all your fees through paypal so the transaction amount is higher leading to a higher percentage taken from your sale only to come back a month later and get their fees. it is robbery.
I made my living on eBay for years under Meg Whitmen. I absolutely loved it! As a matter of fact, the only shopping I did offline was at the grocery store.
To keep a long story short, I got back on eBay a couple of months ago, and was totally dismayed at all of the simply ignorant changes they made. I could tell that a lot of other ppl were pissed too, because I couldn't even find something as simple as tube socks are polyester pants. eBay is a thing of the past.

Never used ebay cuz frankly it's full of riff-raff & scams. But I read they cleaned it up so I thought I'd look there for something I wanted. It locked up my puter, drove CPU usage to 100% & stayed there. Page never even came up. Had to manually shut down browser. I doubt anyone needs to boycott it. It doesn't even work. It will just eat your CPU. I think it must be full of spyware & virus. I stick to real stores where I know I won't get ripped. Saving a nickle or dime isnt worth it. LOL.

Ebay has become a joke. For me selling a DVD here in the UK - A Listing Fee charge. 10% Final Value Fee charge. PayPal, 20p surcharge PLUS 3%. And NOW in the UK Ebay now insist DVD sellers have to list FREE postage. So you now have to include postage in the Start Cost - Doesn't look like such a bargain now. Guy won a DVD from me last last month. Never paid. Told me he wasn't paying and that "shit happens, now fuck off". Ebays response? NOTHING. And I CAN'T leave negative anymore WTF!?

It is not even REMOTELY fair for an eBay seller to not have the right to give negative feedback to a buyer that doesnt pay. As a seller, I'd look to see if buyers had "no payments" on their feedback so I'd know if I should cancel their bid or not. After eBay implemented that rule, I cancelled my account even though I had 478 feedback left with no negatives and 2 neutrals. I will NOT buy OR sell on eBay ever again.
Whats sad about Ebay's business practices is as they continue to squeeze the smaller sellers out of business, teh diversity and quality of the products on ebay continues to spiral downwards. Now, its basically a storefront for newer items. There are a few vintage seller holdouts but there days are numbered. I have a ebay and Bonanzle store and I hope Bonanzle takes off a lil more..so I can quite ebay completely.

That is exactly right, i was selling laptop spare parts on ebay until couple of days ago. there is what was happening. i have sent for example laptop motherboard worth $250 to buyer, after some time he send me his broken, saying that mine doesnt work and opened claim with paypal. Everybody knows the end i think. He got my working part and money as well and the worst of it gives me negative feedback which i cant fight back. And the keeping bidder private think is just for scammers to bid on own

I bought and sold on ebay since 1989. It seemed every year it got worse. The fees kept going up, they kept adding more and more nickel and dime fees for this and that. They bought out Paypal, and double dipped you again with more fees. I stopped selling over a year ago. I let my credit card expire too. I won't ever sell on there again, and it's very rare I even buy on there anymore.

Its cheaper to just throw the stuff away, i just gave ebay 3 bucks for nothing! They also need to comeout with a fairer buyers/bid option, if you see something you want but have to wait to purchase you should be able to have a hold option or fee, instead being told your an irresponsible bidder and get low reviews.

This is the 1st I've heard of the strike. I've not had time to list so I may have participated w/o even knowing it. My sales have dropped but then again I'm not listing anything new & the few things that I have in my store that are being bought are not being paid for. I've been very disgusted with the fact that a seller can not leave a buyer neg feedback. This is not fair at all. I've never left a neg for someone who didn't deserve it. Usually the neg was posted weeks after the auction ended.
I've only been a buyer, but I know the terms are unfair to the sellers - although I do not think sellers should be allowed to leave NEG feedback if the buyers have paid promptly. What else do we have to do to get a POS?
I do know it's harder for sellers to make a profit - I usually offer to send m.o. so that PayPal won't take such a bite.

Well, they just raised the fee's again! I sell video games & systems on ebay, my user name is joei89. My final value fees are increasing from 8.75% to 15% for video games! Last year, it was 5.25%. That's almost a 300% INCREASE in my damn fees! I also liked the fact that a buyer could pay via money order, because I do not get charged a fee from PayPal. THE ASSHOLES REMOVED THE OPTION OF THE BUYER PAYING VIA CHECK OR MONEY ORDER! It's time to look for an ebay alternative, I've had enough.

All anyone needs to do is look at their own PP forum. No happy campers. The site does not even work for lots and lots of them. It's in shambles.
The 21 days (while they get interest) is a scam-white collar crime IMO. No way can you run your business that way.
The issue is that Ebay is full of scam artiest. Unless Ebay and Paypal start to crack down on these people and go after them in CRIMINAL court, people will have no faith in Ebay/Paypal. Its simple, I may pay a bit more, but not only do I know what I am getting but I also have the protection my credit card company offers. With ebay/paypal its just like buying something off the back of a truck.

Had 3,500 posFB, &due 2a prob wz unable 2post 4 2weeks, got negFB, &altho problem wz sortd with buyers &they wer sympathetic EB wasnt.Hav been totally bannd 4EVER altho sent many emails with valid reason 4the problem. I as a Buyer with a 100 percent positive feedback and 200 trades, have to say that I am pleased with the new feedback changes. On more then one ocassion I have actually been threatened by sellers with neg feedback for complaining about poor product/service. this change makes the buyer "king" the way it is everywhere else in commerce and should be. Without the buyer, no one eats inclusive of Ebay and their shareholders. I think some sellers have brought this change upon themselves.

I had a buyer buy a expensive expresso machine from me and break a couple of the parts after they had it for 5 days. I had all kinds of proof that i sent it in perfect condition including a video of me packing the item in perfect condition just in case the item was damaged in shipping or the buyer tryed to pull on over on me. WELL the seller 5days after recieving it toled ebay it didnt work. Ebay didnt even want to see me video. They just took the money out of my acount and gave it to the buyer.

Ebay use to be a safe place for sellers and buyers. But now its only safe for the buyers. ALL they have to do is say the item was not what they expected they have over 7 days to play with it before they have to contact you about not wanting it, and you have to take it back even if its exactly how you described. AND you dont get the shipping it cost you to send it to them back so you are out the shipping. HOW DO THAT MAKE SENSE. Even if the seller dos everything right you still get screwed over.

I filed a complaint with the attorney general of michigan and they replied that there wasnt enough "evidence" to go forward with my complaint, what? The U.S. is the only place where Ebay, a thrird party site can force a seller to use Paypal...They say it helps prevent fraud, yet when I asked them specifically about how much fraud occurs on the site...they had "no information to provide me"...I feel like the guy in the 1984 book...2 plus 2 doesnt make three Ebay...goodbye to good deals on ebay.

I love how in the U.S. Ebay forces its sellers to use Paypal for payment. Of course they now own Paypal and get yet another cut of the sellers money. However, in Austrailia, where they tries to pull the same B.S. Austrailia bitch smacked them and said that it was illegal for a third party site to make their sellers use an online payment service. Ebay is too expensive. Their transaction fee per sale on the buy it now option is 4.9%, plus you have to pay a listing fee. Also, when you sale a product for sale, people can just add it to the watch list, and then wait for someone else to sale and advertise the same product.

ebay uses its paypal to extract more money from your sales. They send all your fees through paypal so the transaction amount is higher leading to a higher percentage taken from your sale only to come back a month later and get their fees. it is robbery.

I made my living on eBay for years under Meg Whitmen. I absolutely loved it! As a matter of fact, the only shopping I did offline was at the grocery store.
To keep a long story short, I got back on eBay a couple of months ago, and was totally dismayed at all of the simply ignorant changes they made. I could tell that a lot of other ppl were pissed too, because I couldn't even find something as simple as tube socks are polyester pants. eBay is a thing of the past.

Never used ebay cuz frankly it's full of riff-raff & scams. But I read they cleaned it up so I thought I'd look there for something I wanted. It locked up my puter, drove CPU usage to 100% & stayed there. Page never even came up. Had to manually shut down browser. I doubt anyone needs to boycott it. It doesn't even work. It will just eat your CPU. I think it must be full of spyware & virus. I stick to real stores where I know I won't get ripped. Saving a nickle or dime isnt worth it. LOL.

Alternative venues to sell will evolve soon enuf, remember where you heard it. The worlds largest "fence" (seller of stolen goods) will start losing money and hopefully Paypal in light of BIG bank failures will be regulated. Write your congressman and make them aware. Im looking for 4 or 5 good ebay sellers, who have existing rangers, that dont change very often. Martial arts pads would never need to change, whereas football programs would change every week.
Uk or USA. As long as youve got good products and cheap enough, you can avaoid ebay fees altogether, and just pay me a weekly fee for the site, based on how many sales or hits it gets.
You will sell less than ebay, but no crippling fees. If it dont sell, i wont charge anything.

The truth is,E BAY mostly survived on counterfeit goods sales on it`s "fleamarket" site.Since they have been removed by the authorities, ebay has decided to screw every remaining trader to pump up it`s profits, i was a Power seller and have now left ebay, as i found i was working for THEM, not for myself, paying xtortionate fees with only scam customers frequenting ebay nowdays.

Ebay has become a joke. For me selling a DVD here in the UK - A Listing Fee charge. 10% Final Value Fee charge. PayPal, 20p surcharge PLUS 3%. And NOW in the UK Ebay now insist DVD sellers have to list FREE postage. So you now have to include postage in the Start Cost - Doesn't look like such a bargain now. Guy won a DVD from me last last month. Never paid. Told me he wasn't paying and that "shit happens, now fuck off". Ebays response? NOTHING. And I CAN'T leave negative anymore WTF!?

It is not even REMOTELY fair for an eBay seller to not have the right to give negative feedback to a buyer that doesnt pay. As a seller, I'd look to see if buyers had "no payments" on their feedback so I'd know if I should cancel their bid or not. After eBay implemented that rule, I cancelled my account even though I had 478 feedback left with no negatives and 2 neutrals. I will NOT buy OR sell on eBay ever again.

Whats sad about Ebay's business practices is as they continue to squeeze the smaller sellers out of business, teh diversity and quality of the products on ebay continues to spiral downwards. Now, its basically a storefront for newer items. There are a few vintage seller holdouts but there days are numbered. I have a ebay and Bonanzle store and I hope Bonanzle takes off a lil more..so I can quite ebay completely.

I bought and sold on ebay since 1989. It seemed every year it got worse. The fees kept going up, they kept adding more and more nickel and dime fees for this and that. They bought out Paypal, and double dipped you again with more fees. I stopped selling over a year ago. I let my credit card expire too. I won't ever sell on there again, and it's very rare I even buy on there anymore.

Its cheaper to just throw the stuff away, i just gave ebay 3 bucks for nothing! They also need to comeout with a fairer buyers/bid option, if you see something you want but have to wait to purchase you should be able to have a hold option or fee, instead being told your an irresponsible bidder and get low reviews.

final value fee-2.75
paypals cut- another 2.75
plus the first fuckin listing fee in the frst place. they tak damn near 2/5 of your profit, and if it doesnt sell in most cases they dont give you a listing fee refund

This is the 1st I've heard of the strike. I've not had time to list so I may have participated w/o even knowing it. My sales have dropped but then again I'm not listing anything new & the few things that I have in my store that are being bought are not being paid for. I've been very disgusted with the fact that a seller can not leave a buyer neg feedback. This is not fair at all. I've never left a neg for someone who didn't deserve it. Usually the neg was posted weeks after the auction ended.

Too late - I'm only hearing about it now.
I've only been a buyer, but I know the terms are unfair to the sellers - although I do not think sellers should be allowed to leave NEG feedback if the buyers have paid promptly. What else do we have to do to get a POS?
I do know it's harder for sellers to make a profit - I usually offer to send m.o. so that PayPal won't take such a bite.
This should have been more promoted - I would have joined in ...

I joined EBAY in 1999... Now it is a complete piece of shit. I don't sell anymore and if I want to buy something it's "Buy It Now" with posted shipping charges ONLY... Shill bidding killed it for me... Ebay's digusting greed was evident in the fact that they did nothing to stop the shill bidding problem... why would they? Higher priced auctions mean more profits for Ebay... no reason to stop the shill bids... My reason for leaving....

Well, they just raised the fee's again! I sell video games & systems on ebay, my user name is joei89. My final value fees are increasing from 8.75% to 15% for video games! Last year, it was 5.25%. That's almost a 300% INCREASE in my damn fees! I also liked the fact that a buyer could pay via money order, because I do not get charged a fee from PayPal. THE ASSHOLES REMOVED THE OPTION OF THE BUYER PAYING VIA CHECK OR MONEY ORDER! It's time to look for an ebay alternative, I've had enough.

I would encourage all Ebay users to file a complaint with your states Attorney General's Office. Ebay has announced that they will no longer allow users to accept checks and money orders..What? This is classic bair and switch. Ebay does not have any buisness telling me what type of payment to accept for my own items. Austrailia fought back, we need to do the same.

Checks, money orders and credit cards was always the norm for doing business. ebay is the only place where buyers and sellers are bad and need to be governed by "paypal".

Exactly!!! They just went through that in Australia and it was found that Paypal was NOT safe. Each and every day folks get scammed either by Paypal themselves or hackers with hacked PP accounts. All anyone needs to do is look at their own PP forum. No happy campers. The site does not even work for lots and lots of them. It's in shambles.
The 21 days (while they get interest) is a scam-white collar crime IMO. No way can you run your business that way.

The issue is that Ebay is full of scam artiest. Unless Ebay and Paypal start to crack down on these people and go after them in CRIMINAL court, people will have no faith in Ebay/Paypal. Its simple, I may pay a bit more, but not only do I know what I am getting but I also have the protection my credit card company offers. With ebay/paypal its just like buying something off the back of a truck.

theres always that risk buddy, but if it does happen that you get a game like that you need to file a dispute and ebay would take it from there, it would take a while but eventually he would have to give your money back, however its really rare.let me know ill tell you the good sellers with very high ratings! and i know all the bad sellers because i've had my share of those assholes.

I so hate ebay. I use to love it back in 2002 when I started, and now I hate it because they had suspended me for life. I hate ebay because they never reinstate you.. bewarned too if sellers give you item strikes. I had way to many when I canceled a lot of ebay items last year in 2007. F**K ebay for suspension me. EBAY IS NOT A CANCELIZATION SITE... not like Walmart, Toys R Us, Collector's Cache, ToyWiz, Target, etc... BEWARE.

Had 3,500 posFB, &due 2a prob wz unable 2post 4 2weeks, got negFB, &altho problem wz sortd with buyers &they wer sympathetic EB wasnt.Hav been totally bannd 4EVER altho sent many emails with valid reason 4the problem. Got same email back with no real explaination 4evictin me! EB wz r financial lifeline. We're self employed &cos of loss of ebay hav expandin debt. I as a Buyer with a 100 percent positive feedback and 200 trades, have to say that I am pleased with the new feedback changes. On more then one ocassion I have actually been threatened by sellers with neg feedback for complaining about poor product/service. this change makes the buyer "king" the way it is everywhere else in commerce and should be. Without the buyer, no one eats inclusive of Ebay and their shareholders. I think some sellers have brought this change upon themselves.
