Yes. The psychologist argues the point very well. The world is not THAT dangerous a place. Yes, horrible things do happen, but the risk of it happening to your child is far smaller than a media story would suggest. Plus, most child abuse happens among close acquaintances and family, not with the kind of maniacal abductor hyped by the media. Rather than restricting their kids, parents should teach them street smarts, then turn them loose. Parents today are really overprotective, this should stop.
My mom is SOOO overprotective living in the city she had bad memorys.. perverts ect she had SOOO MUCH FREEDOM i cant even go to a friends house for a sleepover cant ride or get a dirt bike because ill BREAK MY NECK every thing i do she has a story to tell me like.. can i go to my friends house? OH ON THE NEWS SOMEONE WENT TO THEIR FRIENDS HOUSE ON THE WAY THERE THEY NEVER CAME BACK AND GOT MURDERED AND RAPED i think shes annoying my dad.. complaining about things like this, but you dont realize that the fact that theres people that really care and love you. especially when it comes to the mothers, because they are the people that carried a child in their womb for 9 months or some, who in the hell would want their child missing or injured because of the parents that are so careless and clueless. yes, everyone deserves to learn independence, but, this shouldnt be an issue. people are so ignorant and selfish these days. *sigh*
