Just one question on the image settings: Wouldn´t it make sense to use as high compression for the png-files as possible? AFAIK the compression is lossless and the encoding time wouldn´t matter much in comparison to render time.
Excellent thanks for the tutorial on the video editor. You have room for a follow up though. This looks like a powerful video editor. I believe you can have parallel videos and tell the editor what time line to play during what time periods. This is not available in many video editors. The only free one that does this, that I know of, is ZS4 and it is impossible to use. If you understand more of the editing features of this I would love to see a tutorial on it.
@GengoNoTabi this is all i have messed with right now... Hopefully Ill have some time off soon to look into this for you but this is the first time in a month that I have had a chance to launch blender :S ... thanks for watching :D
Dude thank you so much!!!!! I was wondering how to do this. I recently made an animation and set the output to png so I could do some tweaks to individual frames in photoshop. I couldn't figure out how to re-render in blender and had to do it(painfully) in iMovie. This will save so much time. Thanks again!!!!!!!
Actually, you ought to keep the strip at Frame 1, not 0, because it plays / renders from 1.

You can press 'A' instead of box select to select all the images in a folder, a bit quicker :)
