That rather depends on what you mean by 'work. Capitalism is seriously flawed at it's core in that it rewards greed, narcissism and psychopathy over humanity and responsibility.

Depends on whom capitalism works for. It can't work for non-capitalists if only because profits are not for them to lay their hands on. It might work OK for some profitmakers. Iswhen these protests get bigger and bigger, we should look around and realize.. WOW, look at us... there are a lot more ofus then THEM...
Not saying violence is the answer NOW, however if we are still wagingwars,and if unemployment get's higher andhigher, And if people are struggling to EAT...

Capitalism might work if applied properly. Corporatism doesn't work for obvious reasons. Profit oriented corporation will always find ways to improve income and reduce costs. Nowadays in a corporate perspective, people = costs.
Also, whoever got the money can sponsor other people to run to government positions. The banks are an example of that. They have people in power, the ask for a few favors and done, more money is made at the expense of the idiot who voted instead of thinking!

A lot of political theories would work if properly applied nimrod, its just it happens to rely mostly on humans not fucking something up with their own self interest or greed. Or just being incorruptible.
Which we all know is impossible for most humans.
If people weren't fallible then something like even Communism would work, or libertarianism as those theories greatly rely on people cooperating and not fucking up other peoples shit. But some people really are just trolls...

That rather depends on what you mean by 'work. Capitalism is seriously flawed at it's core in that it rewards greed, narcissism and psychopathy over humanity and responsibility.
Any capitalist system is guaranteed to generate corruption and concentrations of power in the hands of the few and of whom are least likely to have egalitarian and humanitarian motivations as their priorities.

Depends on whom capitalism works for. It can't work for non-capitalists if only because profits are not for them to lay their hands on. It might work OK for some profitmakers. Economic systems only work for those who own them. Communities must displace capital as owners of all means of production around the world if any system is to work for everyone. To abolish the rule of profit, everyone must work for nothing. That's the only way to win the world. Capitalism can never work for most people.

@hospitaler808 Communism is the opposite of capitalism. Fascism is economically centrist and socially authoritarian. Neither are "late-stage capitalism". Also, laissez faire failed us a century ago, which is why regulation exists, and deregulation has boned us every time the American public are stupid enough to vote in a republican (or allow them to steal an election). Doing what you said will cause an even greater wealth gap as well as resulting in monopoly and ess. corporate dictatorship.

When Marx wrote in 1848, capitalists like Jay Gould (before any health care or welfare) stated "I can pay one half of the working class to kill the other half" Capitalism with or without a government is about enriching the wealthy & not caring for the general population.

We should, in a "The People vs. Goldman Sachs"-type lawsuit, start with prosecuting individuals at investment banks such as Goldman Sachs for dicing up mortgages as assets -- mortgages they knew were bad -- and selling them and betting against them through AIG. That's fraudulent activity. See article by Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone called, "The People vs. Goldman Sachs".

He actually said "the American democratic system isn't working", not capitalism, but same thing. America is democratic, but not a democracy. Representatives are elected through a democratic process. Similar, but that is actually a republic.
The country is turning into a democracy, and we are getting what one should expect.
Another misconception: America is Capitalist. Maybe long ago once inspired, but America is "Interventionist", not Capitalist. It too, is working just as one should expect.
