  • What brand was the prefold and cover? I just purchased Imagine Prefolds and am a bit intimidated by them.

  • shes cute

  • I don't even want to know how many CREEP-OS have viewed this video!! :(

  • she is so cute. :)

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SHES CUTE shes 5?

  • I've never seen it done with a twist in the middle before. Is that way better?

  • She just lays there all nice & still. :P Brendan always has his hand "down there"...which is real handy if there happens to be bum cream there! Oy. Or he's rolling over, kicking his feet...lol.

  • you diddent wipe her before you put her clean nappy on :S she might get a rash!

  • Great Video!..for my third baby i"m choosing cloth diapers.

  • Why didnt you wipe her she could get a rash

  • @valactor26 I've already mentioned more then once that she wasn't dirty :)... This was just a DEMONSTRATION. She had been changed an cleaned before the before, the diaper I took off of her was clean and had just been put on her, FOR the video :) There was no reason to wipe her.

  • @earthymamak lol if i were you, i'd just put that explanation in an annotation bubble on the video - you know, for stupid people - and then remove all comments asking.

  • That's so awesome I saw this. I was cd when I was little and in pictures, my CDs were always in this type of fold. :). Question: do you ever use aquaphor or Vaseline on the baby after wiping?

  • Thx for showing us how to use a prefold. Your kid is adorable. Is she multiracial?

  • thanks for the video...i'm learning the bikini twist fold. i've read some of the comments and some people are really ignorant when it comes to cloth diapering!!

  • i have 2 question

1 the red stretchy thing that holds it all together, does that ever slip loose?

2 would you recomend cloth dipers over "modern" for absobency and cleanliness?

  • @somethinglovely22

I've never had a snappi come lose.

And yes, I would definitely recommend cloth over disposables ANY day. Of course I would, we've used cloth for 2 kids now, over 4 years total :) I love our cloth diapers, we don't really use prefolds anymore, but I really like prefolds in the infant stage for both girls.

  • And isn't there a way of folding the diaper into the cover so that I wouldn't need snappies? I have a one-year old boy so how many diapers/ covers would I need to start out with? And what are inserts? I would so, so appreciate any help!

  • @ifoundmyavalon You can fold it just like she did and put the cover over that, you just need to be able to grab the cover and hold it down over the top so the prefold doesn't move anywhere, and then snap/velcro the cover tightly over that. I don't use a bikini twist, though, I do a newspaper, because it holds poop better for mine.

And if you start with about 6 covers and 24 prefolds, you can do laundry about every 1-2 days. That's what I do with mine. :)

  • Thanks for this video! I am trying to make the switch to cloth diapers and this has helped me out, as I had no idea what I was doing. You make it look so easy. I practiced on a teddy bear a few times so I wouldn't drive my baby crazy lol. I'm reading stuff on websites but it' confusing...Obviously you use prefolds, but what do you think about the all-in-ones?

  • I was wondering how to use a prefold. I am planning on using prefolds and covers, so thank you. You didn't expose her so I don't know what some of the people's problems are on here.

  • It's good you made an effort to prevent her vulva from being seen. Too many other such videos pay no mind to the fact that the infant will one day be an adolescent and would probably be embarrassed and/or resentful about being shown naked to the world.

  • wow! what a cute baby!

  • that is big cloth diaper ... can she still moves freely???

  • @inten1978 .. Yes she could move just as well as any other baby. There's was/is nothing wrong with her so I don't see why she couldn't :) .. If you see any of her other videos you can see that she was moving/walking/crawling just like any other baby while wearing her diapers.

  • That size prefold make really nice dusting cloths

  • Thanks for the video, your little one is such a cutie pie! How are these at absorption and with leaks. It seems too easy to work well.

  • not tryin to be rude or anything!..it looks kinda bulky is it difficult for her to crawl and walk with it?

  • @MsRachel91 .. Well, she's 4 now and doesn't wear diapers anymore. But when she did she could crawl and walk just fine. In fact there are several videos of her in her diapers walking/crawling with no issues.

  • Aww cute baby. I've been looking for an easier way to fold our prefolds. Thanks for the video!

  • your dumb you dont whip the baby

  • @jazzyfl1 .. Actually I'm not :).. There was no reason to wipe her. But thanks for your opinion.

  • @jazzyfl1 The intelligent way to have written that attempted insult would have been:

"YOU'RE dumb, you don't WIPE the baby."

(I'm assuming you meant wipe, unless you whip your baby into submission during diaper changes, which I wouldn't doubt.)

  • @thesexylady674

That was an unbleached chinese prefold and an ABC Swaddlebees wrap.

  • I love this video

  • she is soooo cute i just want to hold her rite now

  • how old was she?

  • @LanieTwins

    around 8-9 months I believe.

  • I can't stand those diaper's but i baby sit and ione a the babies wear's them and they can be a pain. Enviromentally friendly though. xx

  • Your little girl is adorable! Love the little smile, not to mention the curls. We're expecting our second child and plan to use cloth diapers from the beginning. We did switch to cloth when our firstborn was a bit older, but we've never cloth diapered a newborn. It seems that most prefolds are one size - can you explain how that works for a tiny newborn? Or would we be better off finding prefolds that are made specifically for newborns? Thanks!

  • I've never seen that twisty fold before. Neat. I plan to cloth diaper when I have kids.

  • Thank you for the demo! I've been using a variety of cloth diapers in the 2 1/2 years of my son's life, yet somehow I hadn't heard of prefolds! I feel a little silly. I love how happy your little sweetie looks!

  • Aw!!

  • What an adorable baby!

You should have had her in commercials!

  • cool to see. I am on my 3rd baby and cloth diapers is one thing I never used. Wow! Some people and their comments! Always ready to tear someone done! There are many ways to skin a cat...no one is better than anyone else for their diapering choice. CLoths have many green advantages, they do require more water usage for washing I am sure, but overall save landfill space. As long as your baby is healthy why make negative comments. Anyhoo....again nice to see this vid,

  • what kind of diaper do think is better, disposable or cloth? you can answer here or at my page.

  • Thank you I have seen this fold online but only in drawings. It was very helpful. And that little girl is so cute!!! :)

  • i was changing my baby girl once, and she started peeing all over the place! make sure you cover up her private part.

  • Diapering is WAY easier now, when I was a baby you only had cloth diapers and they used pins. I would be scared I'd syick my baby if I had to use the old kind. Which I think you can still buy,

  • @Sheri451 Yeah, they do. Someone posted a great tutorial here on YouTube on how to use real pins and ensure you don't poke the baby. Look up user "bobbleheadevan" - she has a video called How To Pin A Cloth Diaper. In the first comment on the page, she explains her reasoning for preferring pins. I like hearing different people's preferences on things.

  • The diaper cover you used, what type of brand was it?

  • @NoHigh5s

    ABC Wrap by Swaddlebee's.

  • !! where did you get the cute pink prowarp cover? Cute!!!

  • @rainbowmindrita

It's an ABC Swaddlebees cover :) pretty sure I ordered it right from their site (it's been 3 years :P..lol.)

  • beautiful baby! i love to see earth mamas :)

  • @frogysocute

    Lol. No, I'm not dumb.

Her butt was not dirty at all, the diaper I changed was a clean diaper and her butt was clean, I was only making a tutorial on how to change a prefold with a particular fold, I had cleaned her and put that NEW FRESH DRY diaper on her a couple of seconds before I turned the camera on to demonstrate, I wasn't changing a dirty diaper :).

Go play somewhere please and stay out of things you know nothing about :)

  • @earthymamak Hehe! Oh leave her alone, she can't even spell "froggy." ;-) (And she's only 13, if you look at her profile. They won't always stay as cute as yours. Sadly they grow... attitude, that is.)

  • @earthymamak im sorry !

  • @frogysocute how is she dumb ???

  • @frogysocute oohh u jus got played

  • Name calling... real mature. ;-)

  • @NiamhWitch lol

  • What kind of prefolds are those? I like!

  • lol read Dianna's profile.

  • Shes so cute! :)

  • @Dianna469

Just because that's not how YOU folded diapers doesn't mean that she did it wrong. She used the "bikini twist" fold, which is a very common fold. She did nothing wrong. This video was taken about two years ago and she's used the same fold on her daughter the entire time. If the fold works, how is it wrong?

Maybe you're unfamiliar with today's cloth diapering, because that fold is a very common one used by many parents.

  • @Dianna469

And how exactly is it "unhealthy"? Please oh please, cloth diaper goddess, enlighten us. ;-)

  • @Dianna469

The pee does not need to be CUPPED in the diaper. If you have leakage issues because of lack of absorbancy, chances are you have buildup on the diapers and so they are repelling all liquid. The bikini twist is really good for heavier wetter girls (there is more bulk where they need it) and babies with chunkier thighs (the reason I did it with my boy). Also, because of the twist, the back does create a sort of "pocket" for the poop.

  • continued

A liner in a prefold would be used in the case of preventing diaper cream (big no-no in cloth ANYWAY) from getting onto the diaper, a piece of microfleece for pulling moisture away from the bottom, or for a child who is on formula or solids whose poop is not as soluble as breastfed poop so that it is easier to clean up.

  • no liners where around for year My oldest is 19 more so now 20 So what does that tell you

  • @Dianna469

That things aren't the same as they were 20 years ago?

  • not much has change in 20 year when it comes with diapers lets face those facts

  • @Dianna469

I beg to differ. Did AIO diapers exist 20 years ago? Or pocket diapers? Or fancy fitteds? Nope. Cloth diapering has changed immensely over the past 20 years or so. Heck, it's changed even in the past 5 years.

  • @NiamhWitch it was only 4 yrs ago when I change a cloth diaper last not 20 yrs ago. and nothing has change from 4 yrs ago

  • @Dianna469

Wow what the heck are you talking about? This mama did nothing wrong.

Guys maybe Dianna is a troll....

  • Thanks for this! You make it look so easy :D

  • what a cute little girl! i like the way you are using the prefold. what brand are you using?

mamas just starting cloth diapering, check out my channel for my vlog about being a beginner cloth-diaperer! :) i'm hoping some info i share can be helpful.

  • Plus , you make it look so easy !!! just pratice I guess lol x x

  • Hi there , Thank you for this vid ! I's just switched from disposables to re-usables and so far all the folding tutorials Ive found are for little babies my Daughter is 18 Months old and the folds just havent worked ~ going to give this one a try , next nappy change .... thanks

  • that looks like a shit load of hard work

  • To bad you think because it's not =D

  • Thanks for the tutorial, we use cloth, but mostly pockets. I am just now starting to really like PF's and covers but was not sure how to fold them.

    YAY for CDing...........good job!!

    PS, she's a beautiful babe!

  • AWESOME this was the best video yet!

  • aww! shes sooo pretty.

  • wow to complez for me, i would just buy em'

  • This saces upwards of $6000 on diapers. Its also better for the environment.

Disposable diapers go to the dump. Thats poo and urine out in open air. With these, the poop goes in the toilet and the cloth gets washed and re-used.

It reduces diaper rash, and is cheaper.

  • cloth reduces diaper rash? Coulda sworn it was the other way around. Cloth is better for bed wetters who sleep on there side. But the PH reduction and the moisture pull away from the skin is better in disposables.

  • Cloth breathes better, at least it did when my brother was in nappies, of course, thats when disposables had those horrible plastic covers. These days they breath well too, but the a nappy changed enough, and a nappy folded well enough, does a good job too. It saves a lot of money and a lot of environmental damage, thats for sure.

Powder well and change often, thats what I do with cloth nappies.

  • how old is she?

    very cute i must say!

  • In the video she was about 8 months. She's now 2 1/2 :)

  • shoot lol iwas gonna ask how to fold them. whats the difference prefold and not prefold i assume one is already folded??

  • shes gawgus!!

  • your baby is so cute

  • hey easy peesy! Parents do this and breastfeed by the who *minimum* standards 2 years and save thousands and thousands of dollars and have super duper healthy babies!!!!!

  • Thanks, this was very helpful. I am just starting out and want to try prefolds in addition to pockets.

  • maybe you can answer my question. whats the difference between prefolds and none prefolds and like what are pockets and all that. i have always used disposable on my kids and all caus ei never realy knew how to do this i watch this but its all covered up so i dont see how its done well not this vid just others not that like i wanna see a naked kid lol just dont get how the none prefolds and all work and i just dont see the diference i guess. wow this just sounds perverted lol.

  • I am no professional, I am just a 20 year old girl with no children but, prefolds are flat diapers that are rectangular, similar to the diapers your parents or grandparent may have used. (disposables are new in a sense.) Pocket diapers are diapers that have a pocket, you stuff that pocket with either a stuffer or a prefold diaper to absorb the wetness. Pocket diapers also do not need a cover whereas prefolds do. Pockets are also closer in appearance and function to disposables.

  • your gonna be a good mom someday you know alot for not being one lol. you must have nieces and nephews or maybe younger brothers or sisters i suppose that you have helped with among the years.

  • Actually I dont haha. I just read a lot and I am always interested in greener ways of living and I do dream of having kids some day in the far off future and do want to be the best mom! Hmm...I think most of this stems from me being plastered in front of the tv watching super nanny when nothing else is on haha.

  • Adding a bit more. Prefold diapers have to be folded to be used. The type of fold used is dependent on which one will hold in the most poo or leeks and varies with every baby. After you fold it, diaper the baby and pin it, you put a cover on. (or you will have a wet surprise on your lap)

Pocket diapers do not require a cover, they only need to be stuffed and they can either snap or velcro close just like your average disposable. :)

    They are more expensive though.

  • thanks :) seriously thank you i was curious on how all that works lol. pocket ones have a plastic outside cover though right in order to hold the pee right??

  • What's the difference between the twist fold you did there and a flat fold? Is one better than the other?

  • I find that the twist fold leaks less cause it adds an extra layer so the diaper soaks up more wetness. With cloth you want the diaper to soak the wetness so that it does not sit on baby's skin. If you have a boy make the twist close to the front with a girl have the twist more in the middle.

  • wow that is the most simplistic diaper I've seen yet.. thanks.. :)

  • I love the twist fold-- it was the one I used most with my daughter... My question is, what kind of cover is that? SO cute!! We're due with #2 in July and I'm starting to build up my collection of infant fluff!!

  • It's really that easy? :O What's that fastener she was using? That looks like it made the change even easier. I want to know!! :-)

  • It's a Snappi, much better then pins :) At least we think so.

And they are very easy :) Much easier then people think.

  • Aww she looks a bit like my cousin when she was one becoz of her curls and colour hair and skin colour

  • i was going to use cloth diapers but i had no clue how to use them, i still have 6 bran new ones to this day and plan on having another baby, but the diapers i have are very thin, do you reccomend a brand or a place i can go and buy them?

  • babies that use cloth diapers do they potty train easier than babies that use doposable diapers? dont have kids just wondering, very cute baby by the way.

  • Hey, Earthymamak, I was wondering why you don't prefer disposable diapers instead of Cloth diapers. xD

  • How old is she right now? xD

  • She is now almost 22 months, in the video she was 8 months.

  • Ok. xD

  • That twist fold is pretty cool. We don't use prefolds but I have some infant ones we use to stuff his Fuzzi Bunz. I like prefolds much better so we will probably use them if we ever have another baby.

  • she is totally cute!! Love the demonstration on the twist fold. I usually use the angel wing cause I am inept at the twist! :)

  • thanks for the video. you did a good job of demonstrating. i think i'll go cloth next time. the little girls soo cute too.

  • I used cloth (2nd child) but FINALLY lol..I am using prefolds and covers.I actually love that method.I use my pockets and fancy aio's etc..to go out:)

I have FUN diapering my baby, and know I'm doing the right thing for our environment,my budget, and most important,MY BABY.

I did NOT know about the chemicals in sposies..when you find out, trust me,you wont' want to put a sposie on your baby again:(

    YUCK.

    GOOD JOB MAMA~:)

  • they're good not only for the environment but they're good

Speaking of environment ,do you know any company that makes disposibles that use only 100% organic grown cotton?

  • 7th Generation!

  • they're really good, they're good not only for the environment

I guess there is less fill in garbage dumps..

but how can they be good for the environment with all the water and detergent one uses to wash disposables?

  • yOU DIDN'T CLEAN THE BABY'S BUTT BEFORE PUTTING THE CLEAN DIAPER ON

  • Her butt was clean! The video was only to show HOW to change a pre-fold.But thanks for being concerned.

  • Awesome, thank you!

  • How good are those diapers. She is so cute.

  • they're really good, they're good not only for the environment but they're good for your baby regular diapers have tons of toxins in them :) hope that helps you with your question.

  • beautifull baby!

  • much more comfortable for the babies

so according to her cloth is more comftarble

I do not know? I assume cloth absorb better, but washing all those diapers!!

  • This is what I did. Take a new disposable diaper, open it up and rub the inside of it on your face. Then take a cloth diaper and rub it on the other cheek and see which feels better. That helped me decide what I would want on my bum 24 hrs. a day. :::smile:::

  • This is what I did. Take a new disposable diaper, open it up and rub the inside of it on your face. Then take a cloth diaper and rub it on the other cheek and see which feels better. That helped me decide what I would want on my bum 24 hrs. a day. :::smile:::

    those are the wrong cheeks.

  • What a great baby at her age to stay still for the change!

I rarely used fold up cloth with my youngest as he just wouldn't sit still for me to get it fit right.

I hope I will have better luck with next bub.

  • beautiful! I use of ecological diapers would have here to be stimulated also in Italy. if I will never have baby...I will use them.

  • I totally agree with what alot are saying. Yes cloth was the first diaper, Yes it is not difficult and yes it is better for the baby and environment. It is also definetly cuter. To the person who mentioned money, maybe that is part of the reasoning, maybe not. You obviously are not a parent or have any care for children.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I have just started using pocket diapers and have been thinking about trying prefolds. You have made it look so simple that I am gonna give it a try myself.

  • Cloth diapers are regular diapers, they where the first ones. They where before disposable diapers, disposable diapers are paper. I don't wear paper underware, so why should my baby?

Good job mama on cloth diapering! Its so much better for your daughter and the earth! Plus is WAY cuter!

  • I love the idea of cloth diapering! I hate the thought of paying $25 for trash. Every time I took a bag of throwaway didees to the trash I'd think-there goes my money.

Live like there is a tomorrow-take care of the planet for your kids.

  • That's fine everyone likes what they like.

But what exactly is a "regular" diaper. If you want to get down to it a cloth diaper IS a 'regular' diaper. What do you think people used before they started making 'paper' diapers?

Would you consider paper underwear "regular" underwear over the nice soft or pretty cloth ones you get to wear?..Just wondering and JMI :)

  • I have 12 prefolds and 2 covers (they look like the diapers in this clip). I also have 20 pocket diapers (google "fuzzi bunz"). I do 1 load of laundry about every 4 days and I still have a big stack of diapers left over. I have too many but I'm addicted to collecting all the different colors/patterns LOL!

  • Hi, I am looking for instructions to use cloth diaper. Your video is very helpful. Can you tell me what is the thing to hold the prefold together? Where can I buy them?

  • why does she wear a cloth diaper, whats wrong with a regular diaper

  • Because we like them, for numorous reasons. They are better on her skin and not to mention they save money.

  • What do you think a real diaper is? I'm just curious.

  • If you used that theory for everything in life you would eat off of paper plates every day, use plastic forks, wear throw away cloths. I mean we wash those things every day even though there are disposable options available. And if you think about it, which would you prefer to use? A plastic fork or a "real" metal fork that you wash and re-use GWIM?

IMO, cloth diapers ARE the real diapers lol!

  • i know, but i just ment that it might be gross to clean the poo off of it

  • It doesn't have to be gross. I hold the diaper over the toilet, shake it & the "contents" drop into the toilet. Sometimes I use a diaper sprayer to get more off. I never touch anything and never spend more than a few secconds on a diaper. When I'm done I toss the diaper in a wet bag and forget about it until wash day (every 3-4 days). I dump diapers directly from the bag to the machine, close the lid and poof! Clean diapers.

  • oh, so you have more than 5 of them when you use them so u have one everyday until wash day?

  • brianha: most babies in disposables will have a lot of poopy blow-outs. no matter what, if you have a baby, you will deal with washing poop off something whether its diapers or clothes or carseat covers or your own clothes.

cloth diapers are MUCH more protective than disposables for blow outs. theres usually 2 layers and its a rare thing to get past all of that to leak on clothes. I have peace of mind with holding and playing with my baby not worrying if her diaper will hold up.

  • oh ok, well im only a teenager, so i didnt get why they were better than a normal diaper
