There is also probably a date on the body inthe trem spring cavity or the pick up cavities if he looks. The rubber date stamp started in march/april 1962 by the way.
I wrote that he SHOULD have used a capo. I did NOT say anything about a capo on the first fret is stupid. CAN'T YOU READ??? I said that he did not capo the neck and LOOSEN the strings. NOT take them OFF. By the way, "a lot" is two words not one, you illiterate fool.

What a complete IDIOT!! This guy didn't even loosen the strings and capo the neck before he took off the neck. I'd be pretty upset if that were my '59 Strat.
If it is really was a 1959 it should have a 11 hole 3 ply pick guard and a slab Brazilian rosewood neck (introduced around may 1959). This one has a maple neck and a single 8 hole pick guard. It's probably 58' or an early early 59'. 25 grand is pretty good; there's a shop near where I live that sell these for over 40 grand. I guess thats the market value now. Must be an older video.
just because it has the 8-hole pickguard and maple neck doesn't mean it's not really a '59. The pickguard changed somewhere around july, and the necks went to maple about may, so it is most likely a very early '59. s/n looks to be 37721, which fits '59 production
You guys are incredibly stupid. Pulling a neck off a stratocaster is a perfectly natural thing. They were made as they are so that you can do just that. This is the guy trusted to go over all the guitars sold at the Crossroads guitar auction, and he knows much more about it then you guys. Also taking the neck off without taking the strings off isn't going to damage the guitar at all. Its just loosening the strings as if you were tuning them down.
I think he was simply taking a chance there was one. More times than not, the pencil mark dates in the body & neck were a few months apart as they were mass produced for assembly a little later. Not uncommon to have a 4-59 body and 2-59 neck. I have a 59 Strat with a 2-59 that is about 3000 back from her serial. I've also seen 3-59 pencils. I think Fender discovered the profanity issue around April 59. I'd bet this guitar was constructed summer59 & is likely one of the last 50s full maple necks.
its just summit u dont do. its not meant to come off!!! well mayb if it breaks and ur replacing it. thats different. id just buy a guitar. the way i look at it is that it will never be the same guitar again.
what a dumbass, unscrewing the neck while the strings are still on it

It's very rare to find a '59 neck date. I don't know why he took the neck off.

Anyone else cringe when he started unscrewing the neck with the strings under tension? hopefully they unwound them and just took the shot out.
