I've been able to transform him without taking off the wings. The only thing I ever lose is his crotch on occasion XD but that's no biggie. I do agree some people might have a hard time with him.
I agree, the wing transformation without removing them is a serious pain. mine come off very easily though.

the only complaint i have about my unicron is the looseness of the wing struts' don't try super glue.
