@MRA7XDRUMMeRDudE93 The sounds would have been made by Jordan. And I'm not sure on the cost of the OASYS as korg discontinued production of it. Or they had last I heard. Anyway they have a new synth out called the Kronos. Which has most, if not all, the sounds of the OASYS and more. It's about $4000 so yeah. Korg aren't cheap.
Question, please! Does anyone know if is it possible to change sounds like that WITHOUT those gaps? I can hear small interruptions in the sound. I'm frightened... if OASYS and JR can't manage that, I think no one can.
i think every korg keyboard have trouble when changing presets, sound going to mute.... not like roland, sound going to fade...... it's clearly see on this video...
@okiirawansudiarto You are wrong. The OASYS doest even fade on instrument/program/combo change, it plays the sound out like the key was released. However, you might run into polyphony issues if you have lots of 10+ instrument combos using lots of effects. You are usually "limited" to 182 tone polyphony, depending of which instruments are used.
The keyboard should be fucking louder in DT...the guitar covers a part of what Jordan does...is too many details,we only catch it all when Jordan teaches or show keyboards like on this video
"Just turn down the volume,John, just a little bit..."
The music that starts at 05:56 ... what can I say.. this is so fucking* EPIC!!! :D Jordan, I cannot thank you enough for this! Long live JR and DT!! =)
There is something special about having the same "board" as a legend.
You Kurzweil fans that can't stand THE MAN is now playing a KORG need to realize that life goes on. Rudess has always used KORG - most of the sounds he used came from a Karma that sat right behind him - played through the Kurzweil controller. So when KORG created a board that surpassed the Kurzweil, from a controller perspective well, it was time to move on. Time to move on and quit hatin'.
@ejsanch Keep in mind that Jordan also use keyboards from other brands as well. He just prefers the OASYS(now Kronos) to play live cause it can do what he needs in DT live. If you see his last LTE live, he uses a Roland Fantom G8.
@mr4y Well, I'm well aware he uses other boards - heck, my comment mentions he used a Karma controlled by a Kurzweil.
Time moves on, so one day another keyboard will come out that is better, has more expressiveness, functionality. The point of my post was to proudly wave the OASYS banner while it was his primary board. Keep in mind that post was 1 year ago, so that he plays something else between then and now is not a surprise.
I don't know what the difference is between other synthesizern or masterkeyboards :D i get almost the same sound with cheapier instruments, i only need a little bit more time...
@snake018joe Well, workstations are for people who are extremely serious about music production, and the sound quality on the workstations are much better than cheaper ones.
I'm willing to say you just about have to be this good to get what you want out of this product. I would also say it's worth the money to the folks who can actually play it like this. But I know I'm not one who could do this.
...sorry, don't get it how this is better than Rudess' old Kurzweil - except for "the joystick that goes to the left and right, but also up and down!".
@dpeg I think a big part of Jordan moving to the Oasys was simply the age of the Kurz technology. VAST is very powerful but the Oasys is even more so with the ability to layer even more and the ease of editiing compaired to the Kurz and the adjustablility of the paramaters of each sound. My 2500XS was a true pain to edit so I moved to the Alesis Fusion HD8. I also think Kurz was having some financial issues that were holding them back from making the next best thing.
@BrentMB79 Didn't know about that financial issues thing w/ Kurzweil. What I intended to say is that in that video, I didn't hear anything where I'd go "a K2600XS can't do that!". And w/ the programming experience Rudess (+his tech) obviously had gathered w/ the Kurzes and the sounds already programmed, I simply didn't (and don't) get why the move was necessary.

Its pretty hard to tell how he made it ;)
