  • How can they say the exact time the universe was made?? They can't because it always existed in the first place. It couldn't have formed out of nothing nd it can't expand into nothing... It always existed and it does not have an end

  • If the Universe is ever expanding, where or what is it expanding into? Whats there before the Universe? If that makes sense

  • how can you use the term 'expansion' when we actually do not know the size of universe whatsoever! bollocks!

  • @chessplayer100

we are in 4 dimensions of a 11+ plus dimension universe... read up on graham's number. That should make you worry about bigger problems than a mere expending universe.

  • @crashpilot2: Gravity isn't a theory, it's fact. Learn the difference between fact and theory.

  • Great series. However, it is beyond me why the makers of documentaries believe there should be background music. It drowns out the speaking part of the documentary. Music is entirely unnecessary and only serves to take away from the content.

  • @danthemanzizzle i actually believe in the big bang. i was just joking around

  • the universe will compress again and we will all die in 2012 lol

  • i agree with cronos in that we have physical evidence to base our theories on the wondrous things we discover everyday. religion operates by a book and a promise of post death gratification for living a life in god. it is full of highly hypocritical thinking. many examples throughout history have proved the bible wrong on many occasions. most creation activists have not even done their scientific research because they dismiss what they do not understand and chalk it up to fate.

  • this is much bigger than us, we are not made to be in the universe, we are made to be in this small planet warm and happy! .. but our hunger for knowledge is taking us more than our imagination can function correctly!,

this life we are living in is either too complex or too simple,

this is really mind blowing, am amazed by all of these discoveries and hope one day I'll become part of this :D, and hope we be more understanding to this humanity race .. forget our problems, become one...

  • Religion should be kept out of serious (EVIDENCE BASED) Science and other big affairs - and even further from ME..

The heavy weight of evidence around suggests we all came from the stuff of stars; and will all return to it. "Science is my Religion; The Universe is my back-yard and I prefer to put my faith in people- well most of them.

  • Anti-gravity is a fascinating bitch.

  • THE BIG BANG ISNT A THEORY LOL!!! STUPID CHRISTIANS OPEN YOUR EYS

  • @mosho8888: Stupid evolutionists, open your eyes. Yes it is, indeed, just a theory.

  • where did go our science's accuracy & accurate Maths/Physics? Lot of assumptions are being heard & quoated in this documentary!! lolz which is unacceptable from as a student of science!

Show some proofs and accurate measures HAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

Science is a baby, Belief in God's saying is an ultimate wisdom, Who Has created all & whole the universe with His calculations! God (Allah) is Great!

  • well, if people can belive in rebirth of humans...then i belive in rebirth of the universe. A cycle that is neverending maybe.

  • The Universe is made of cheese. Okay? Cheese. That is all.

  • This is why I like European documentaries more than American. In American documentaries they constantly remind you how cool this is or have people come in and explain how dangerous or fantastically large something is. They constantly tell you what to think and feel. In European documentaries they pretty much just tell you the facts and then you get to form your own opinion. Except for the in both ever percent epic music of course...

  • God's or no gods, atheists or not, there's no point in arguing about it. I mean, c'mon, It seemed almost insignificant on how we humans suppose to understand existence and the immensity of things just presented. Just live the life my dudes. Go wank on some other vids or something. I'm pretty religious myself but oh well.

  • cronoslogic I like the way you think my friend, just like me: logical, scientific (backed by evidence you are familiar with from your own research), and opened minded. Its absurd how many people close themselves off from reality and make absurd comments backed by only their closed minded opinions. Thanks for posting these videos! I new about all this info. before, but these videos were well done. Also your replays to these peoples comments were exactly what I would have said :)

  • Truth is Gods name

  • my mum is a chipmonk

  • I'm gona ask nicely now. Can u bible bashing idiots PLEASE not come on here. and start saying how can we believe the big bang theory, and how it is stupid. when u believe the universe was created by a unknown being. really grow a brain. and stop preaching your religion here.

  • I agree

  • hey you, i think it is a public page? isnt it? so i can post my opinions here, if you're upset who cares? the world will not cry if you get angry. yosh!

  • @emkunheartsyou No, it's a monitored page under my control. You're finished.

  • @cronoslogic It's pointless. Everyone have their own beliefs. To us, there are no Gods, for there are no prove of Him/Her/It existing. If we look back into time, how Jesus was born WAS a complete rip off from the Egyptian God. But in the end, we are the captain of our own soul. We choose what we believe in and what we do not wish to believe in. Those who believe in religion, why are you even watching this video in the first place?

  • @emkunheartsyou Ignorant!

  • so when we look at the sky we see the present and the past ?

how much our brain can take how little it have.

  • If you understand where string theory is, you'll understand that it actually supports the singularity theory. The problem with people like yourself, is that you don't bother to actually conduct your own research, you simply dismiss the topic with little or no understanding of the subject at hand. Go back to your Bible and stay in your coma. No point in looking at any more science for you. Finally, if God created the Universe, then what created God? He came from nothing? Hypocrite!

  • @emkunheartsyou And you state that as fact, which it is not. God is just a theory backed by faith, no different than those that have faith in the Big Bang theory. Furthermore, the concept of God is different from person to person. For some, it's the ridiculous notion that there's some bearded man living in the clouds watching your every action. For others, the Universe itself is God from which we are created and a part of. Regardless of any of this, it is YOUR belief, and nobody elses.

  • how did you know that God is bearded if dont even believe in Him? huh?

  • @cronoslogic crono i here what you are saying and i totally agree but remember that "theory"" in science is normally meant as things that are real not what normal people know as theorys as things that might be

  • @cronoslogic god and big bang no one can prove it true or false.. if u belief go ahead but if u don't who care.. life still go on... haha.. for me i like theories.. no one can prove it wrong so it might be correct... but i won't fully into it.. it just like another example for my answer..

  • @emkunheartsyou you know a theory according to the scientific definition is a set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of FACTS or phenomena. Most theories that are accepted by scientists have been repeatedly tested by experiments and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena

  • @emkunheartsyou With that comment you just prove that you know nothing about science, not even what "theory" means in scientific terms. Go back to your sci-fi, or should I say, God.

  • @emkunheartsyou If your just gonna go out of your way to a science video to cry about God, then I have some words straight from the skydaddy: GET. A. LIFE!

  • The theory doesn't imply that all matter & energy was created, it suggests that it had always existed and collapsed under its own gravity

If you can't handle the possibility that matter always existed I don't know how you cope with the creation of your god, or has he always existed too. If you think so you're invalidating your own logic. The human mind relentlessly searches for points of origin. When we don't have an answer, we create one. I'll settle with the unknown opposed to cult beliefs

  • @montanasosa21 Hey here's the evidence why we should believe in a big bang is there is background radiation (gotten from space by C.O.B.E.) showing the red shift and the radiation we receive is micro waves which are long an slow showing the things in space are moving away, 2 if we use a spectroscope pointed at a galaxy it shows the spectrum lines are on the red side also meaning things a moving away..... What do you have for evidence of god?......

  • Ok heres evidence of god = NOTHING!,

evidence of big bang: 1) Background Radiation means that there is radiation in space (Microwaves, light waves, x-rays), it is mainly made of micro an radio waves which are slow and have long waves, showing that the universe is expanding from a single point.(observd by COBE)

    2) Red Shift analysis means when we look at a galaxy with a spectroscope its lines are in the red side show the light waves a long and slower also showing things are moving away from us.

  • @montanasosa21 most logical definately, I can picture the cavemen emrging "OMG where did that rock come from?!?" I KNOW IT WAS AN UBER SKY ZOMBIE WHO'S EVERYWHERE THAT PUT IT THERE!!!!

God is just a word for the uninspired and ill informed to define what they don't want to or can't understand.

  • @montanasosa21 So? out of nothing there was God? oh wait that would be ilogical wouldnt it because thats something out of nothing..

  • This "Big Rip" Is scarring me please help!

  • so what was there before the big bang?

  • @canuck1980 the little bang

  • @canuck1980 nothing.. thats y there is so much dispute over it... how can nothing produce something? Because of our finite wisdom, the only logical explanation is God... and that there was creation.

  • again whered god come from, he obviously was created from something?

  • God came from everlasting.

  • 1.39 "the expansion of the universe " wow these words and these words alone puts everything in perspective.. and we on earth have not got the intelligence to unite and survive together, because out there and beyond us lies the true meaning of life. and that is finding out what and why this is all going on...

  • as if big bang wasn't enough now big rip holy shit

  • i dont like the sound of this "big rip" lol

  • Neither do i :(

  • A tiny spec of dust Horton.

  • Anyone know where to find more videos like what's showing at 4:40 until the end of the clip. Is that infared and does anyone know how sped up the look back is?

  • sounds like we're screwed

  • Excellent question. All galaxies are moving away from us, except Andromeda and our own satellite galaxies, Because they are moving away, their light is "red shifted", which is the primary way we know the approximate distance to the furthest galaxies. Cepheids tell us the distance to nearby galaxies, and since we know the red shift to nearby galaxies, we can also estimate the distance to all galaxies by their red shifts.

  • thats odd as in the last episode they said that the andomeda galaxy is on a collision course with the milky way. so how is that ? did i hear it wrong ??

  • You heard it right. The light from all galaxies we look at is red-shifted, which means those galaxies are moving away from us, EXCEPT for Andromeda, whose light is blue shifted, which means we're moving towards one another. (Another exception are several small satellite galaxies that orbit our galaxy nearby... they are moving with us as we close with Andromeda.) Not to worry, tho, there's ~3 billion years before we collide, and even then there will be few stellar collisions.

  • on the whole, the outer boundaries of the universe are expanding. doppler shift in light suggests this.

But within the universe, in many places, there are galaxies on a colision course. Probably beacuse they are travelling towards each other, or because their gravitational pull attracts them towards each other.

Think of an atomic bomb explosion. The mushroom cloud grows bigger and bigger, but does that mean that dust/gas particles within the cloud do not collide with each other?

  • they sure do. i think that answers your quesion :)

  • everytime i watch things like this.i bring out my telescope and even then i wanna travel there

  • light based redshift is actually very inaccurate at determining velocity or distance. It was assumed that the Doppler effect observed in sound frequencies works the same as wavelengths. This has recently proven to be incorrect, so determining the age of the universe and indeed whether its expanding at all based on this leap in logic is bad science. In fact, there's a lot of evidence that points to no big bang at all. It's generally ignored by the scientific establishment.

  • hmmm, pretty interesting

  • Inflation/BB Theory is excellent science, if not exactly what happened. Redshifts to nearby galaxies are ballpark accurate, (given the distances involved), supported by Cepheid and Type IA supernovae data, so current age/distance estimates are reasonably accurate. BB Theory is NOT generally ignored by the scientific "establishment."

  • I didn't say BB theory is generally ignored. I said that the evidence that debunks it is ignored. You're wrong. Light wavelength redshift is NOT the same as the Doppler effect. This has been proven by the fact that pulsars whose redshift determined they must be millions of light years behind galaxies and accelerating, are actually being observed in front of them, between us and the galaxies that are supposed to be closer. It's becomming somewhat more known, as truth is self evident.

  • Well, of course: who knows what really happened? Running spacetime expansion backwards to some zero point is a logical exercise, but not nec what happened. You're wrong: both EM and soundwaves demonstrate Doppler shifts, depending on where the observer is relative to source. Redshift IS Doppler but, as Einstein asks, are we moving apart or is the space between us expanding? The observed effect is the same.

  • We can only look back into time, to when the universe was only a few billion years old. If spacetime expansion is correct, Hubble deep field is seeing a snapshot of the past when the universe was a tiny fraction of the size it is today. We cannot see the universe as it is today, except here on earth. Even the sun is nine minutes away in lookback time.

  • Age estimates have ranged from 12 to 20 billion years over the last 30 years of science. It really depends on who you're reading and what their observational data & theories are. Truth is, we don't really know for certain.

  • I looked up the Big Rip theory in wikipedia after looking at your comment. Is "stretching the fabric of the universe" just a way of saying that c, the speed of light, is slowly decreasing to 0(when the rip happens)? It seems like the Big Rip describes how communication like interacting forces(gravity, light...) ends between an increasing number of objects with recession velocities that exceed c as c keeps approaching 0.

  • Astronomer Fred Hoyle named it the "Big Bang" in derision, and I admire his scepticism. It's a neat theory to extrapolate expansion backwards to a single point of energy, but not necessarily what happened. Guth's inflation theory and current data suggesting we're "speeding up" and may speed up to a Big Rip only prove that we don't really know the whole picture. Until we unify quantum mechanics and gravity, we won't know. Great theories, tho. Even string theory. Very elegant.

  • i heard it will take like 50 billion years for the big rip to happen

  • Big Bang?.. Yes!

  • big bang???? hmmmm....... nope.

  • Around 14 billion years!!! :O

  • Comment removed

  • @ cronoslogic - actually the width of the visible universe is more like 78 billion light years, not million ... at the time of writing, that is. :)

  • Don't forget to take in account Inflation (Alan Guth's theory that is pretty much accepted), that just after the Big Bang, matter expanded faster than the speed of light.

  • If the Universe expanded at the speed of light for 14 billion years, then it would be 14 billion light years across in size. Since it is 78 million light years across means that it has been expanding at a far slower rate. You have it backwards.

Also, these numbers are estimations and may be off significantly. Science isn't perfect, but it is the ONLY tool we have to better understand the Universe and our place in it. The more our science develops, the more accurate these numbers will become.

  • it did go faster for a while and is speeding up not slowing down this is provable however your right exact calculations of this magnitude arent perfect by any means

  • What I don't understand is how they believe that the universe is 14 billion years old yet 78 million light years in size? That means it initially travelled faster than the speed on light?

  • Years and light years are different, light years measure distance.

  • Time and space is growing and shrinking all at once. What they call antigravity is just the gravity pulling it appart from within. Within is on the outside as well as on the inside. Where the universe is big enough its outer gravity (from within) gets stronger than it's inner gravity, speeding it up as it rushes outward towards it's middle (it's inside,, because it curves). As matter strips down, accelerating and expanding as it heads for the eternity within each infinite partical, it revolves.

  • universe is crazy.. billions of years is mad.. in 50years time i will be a old man or even dead

  • Comment removed

  • cool :)

  • so 5:45 big rig

  • Big RIP.

  • think about it..light speed is not the fastest speed out there. gravity is a much faster and more powerful force then light. in a blackhole the speed of gravity is faster and stronger then light, which is why light can not even outrun the force. gravity seems to have a variable speed, here on earth gravity is set and nonchanging, but elsewhere in space (blackholes) the speed and strength of gravity is far greater which makes it faster then light speed.

  • gravity is just as fast as light the only theoretical way of traveling faster than ligt is to fly at lightspeed around a black hole that warps the space around it so that a person looking at you from the outside will see you diappear into the past

  • thats what we think now. in 500 years it will be different.

  • True, we will eventually understand much more about this topic. Nevertheless, the idea of dual-singularity worm holes is theoretically possible according relativity. We know very little about the nature of space-time that has been warped by gravity. It MAY be possible that the speed of light is affected by gravity wells of created by unfathomably immense and massive objects.

  • press the little box in the window on the right hand side and you can view the full picture LOL

  • lol

  • i would just like to remined everyone that some of these things are just theories and collective opinions. a great mind or minds can come and shatter everything that we've learnd to this point, informing us we were only looking at 5% of the entire picture.

  • Take a ride through Hubble's space with the wizard at "Beyond the Universe" at gergie2

  • LoL!!! The facts are more true than any belief system conjured from mysticism and designed as a control mechanism. Again, the prophets of profit that prey on your prayer are the ones pulling the strings of religion.

  • LoL, that's hilarious. Exactly what are you a Doctor of, bullshit? If anything, science has been chipping away at religious beliefs for hundreds of years. Science is based on real data, whereas religion is based on whatever nonsense some alleged prophet of profit felt like dreaming up that day.

  • And any of what you're saying is relevant to this video, how? People need to grow up and remove their philosophy from science. None of the content in this video has anything to do with any of your philosophy or religious beliefs. Does it scare you crutch leaning god believers that science may one day debunk your mythology?

  • this is a exclusive world premiere preview of what is to be released at xmas, to show the world what is above our earth if we just take a look.

a live event will be on the internet xmas week to show these craft live.

this is just a fraction of film there is still 80% more to see.

  • antigravity made the universe hit 'the gas peddle'? Poor use of analogy. Were talking about the hubble here: the internal combustion engine is sooo 1850's.

  • How do you get to work, and ion drive? How do you get to the bathroom, do you instaniously exist there or do you walk? Foot power is sooo 100,000,000 bc.

  • the big bang theorie is a theorie but if it is true then how the hell did it get the power and the force to make it like that.....i dont think i phrased that rite

  • truly beautiful!

  • por favor me confirmas si se puede ver en idioma español gracias

  • I just can't Believe how you people are so dumb... Keep watching your TV and get Brainwashed by political news.. Don't learn either evolve self-centered idiot... You just don't realize how small and insignificant you are

  • why would anyone care about space thow cuz u cant go any ferther then the moon or mars

  • Awesome document :O

  • i think believing in science doesn't mean that not believing in GOD...coz science just want to show us some REAL evidence of living... try to watch this site.. zeitgeistmovie dot com

  • on the bbc series of space , sam neil said there was 1 million stars for every grain of sand on earth, i would bet my balls that there is millions of inhabitated planets out there. just need someone to prove it lol.

  • Hi, actually Carl Sagan worked out a formula for predicting the overall odds of intelligent life in the Universe that have evolved to our level of technology or that have surpassed us. Basically the odds were as high as 1 million and as low as 1.

  • i dont belive that there is a human on earth at our present intelligence to accurately predict what odds there are on other intelligence being out there. i dont doubt that Carl Segan is some kind of genius but after all he is only........human!.

  • Yeah, even Carl Sagan himself said there is no accuarate way to know for sure. His formula was simply a guide for making a guess since we have no other way to know for certain.

  • yeah, i'm sure there is millions of inhabitated planets/civilizations out there, if not billions or even trillions or even more (scandinavia's biggest science magazine- scientists don't doubt: the universe is only 1 of many - you can read about it on the web). millions or more of them with ultra or very very high tech/intelligence too. there are 70 sextillions stars in the universe. that's 70,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. and that's 'only' those we can see. even 1 million stars is a lot of stars.

  • eg. every galaxy has 200 billion stars and there's 350 billion galaxies. and that's 'only' the galaxies we can see.

  • I'm pretty sure we have 70 sextrillion grains of sad in the WHOLE entire Earth.

Yet they say EVERY grain on sand on Earth would cover half as much galaxies.

  • even 1 million stars or 100,000 stars is an inredibly big / astounding amount of stars;)

  • Sacrifice yourself to find out

  • I would love to see what a civilization that has mastered time travel looks like. And I'm sure there's potentially millions to billions of more advanced civilizations than humans.

  • -_- why dont u think that other civilitations are below our lvl of intelligence -_- but after all I wonder if there is alliens , I wonder if one of thos alliens races could look just exactly like humans :O!

  • I'm sure some of those alien races might look so beautiful even in the eyes of humans. We only envision the likes of "E.T." look, but if humans exist, then other species exists with their own beauty pageants and pornography.

  • what the hek!2-bad i am not going tobe here when that happenshit! lol:)

  • tHANKS FOR THE POSTS:VERY INFORMATIVE...AMAZING YET SAD THAT IN THE NEAR FUTURE,THE HUBBLE WILL FIND IT'S DEMISE IN THE EARTH'S SEA.I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THEY WOULD SEND IT INTO DEEPER SPACE AT LEAST TO IT'S FINAL MISSION,TO THE HUBBLE'S EVENT HORIZON....WE MAY HAVE CLOSER PICTURES OF YET FURTHER CREATIONS.

  • uhhm...capslock? xD

  • sounds like when i fucked my first virgin

  • what do they call it when (if) antigravity prevails and destroys everything? i've listened to it five times and just cant understand him...

    anyways, thanks for the series...

  • the Big Rip.. where the universe will be nothing but a cold dark void filled with simple atoms.. thats it..

  • thanx for video its amazing !!now i feel really small.

  • where is chapter 4?

  • Chapter 4 is 12 minutes long and I am waiting for the YouTube 10+ minute application to be back up and running before posting it. Sorry :(

  • split into two parts posible?... Thanks for the video btw.

  • please spli and post it , these are the gratest videos on the net , ever

  • If you have a real interest in the Hubble Space Telescope, I suggest watching these videos in sequence.
