  • pete townshend take a bow.

  • brilliant

  • that picture is just Pete at the height of his epic coolness

  • I love this song...it's so beautiful, sad, happy all at the same time. Pete is just amazing. The Who <3

  • pete's the best

  • just a masterpiece. this and behind blue eyes made me cry. pete i owe the whole world to your music, the best music. the who are truly the best band that have ever existed and they always will do.

  • @accadaccasuperstar He's so good at bringing emotion into his work to make it meaningful, thats the reason why i look up to him so much! well.. that and coz he's just a badass musician! ;D

  • Hello Peachy! Played it at my Mum's, last December, Not for her, but for us. It was brilliant. Tears of happiness. Bless you Mr. Townshend. Great song indeed.

  • @gf45100 Vedder said it was some kind of homage. So... well... I don't know if the guy is a genious or not, but this is not the reason to say it

  • late birthday wishes to Pete( a week ago today.) This song is so beautiful especially with Pete singing when his voice was higher and John's glorious brass arrangement in the background. Their music will never fade away.

  • Happy Birthday Pete !

  • classic song!

  • hahaha then u'll laugh at this then, they played this and jewish songs....turns out he was jewish and didnt even tell me, guess they didnt want me to be jewish lol

  • @Gomer189

Don't "worry", you won't be Jewish by default unless your mother is.

(Just in case you guys don't get irony: As somebody who gives a damn about religion and peoples (NOT people ;) ) I just don't care whether somebody is Jewish)

  • this has and always will be my favourite Who track. it gives me goose bumps. i want this song at my funeral

  • lovvve this :)

  • I have loved this song since I first heard it in 1975 and I still love it today!

  • he was never convicted....they ´ve suspected of computer porn something...

    lyrics genius townshend...

  • Both Pete and Roger perform this song on a regular basis. The both use an ukulele.

I think I have seen Pete using a Martin soprano uke.

  • One of Pete's finest hours..or lets say 2:46 minutes. :-)

  • nice username who ever pute this on

  • such a happy song =) kinda bouncy

  • my favorite who song just pete and his guitar

  • It's actually a mandolin. Just sayin'...

  • you are correct sir. i was just making a generalization, though a mandolin isnt even in the guitar family as i recall..my bad

  • @RoninEXS

No, it's a ukulele. Haven't you seen the video of Pete performing it live? He was playing a ukulele and it sounded no different from the instrument in this track.

  • @DElasee Yeah, you're right, ukulele. I don't know why I said mandolin.

  • Pete is the greatest songwriter of ALL time.....it's not even up for debate. LONG LIVE PETE!!! LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!!!!

  • I have a photo album of these kinds of sunsets, as an ode to this song. So beautiful!

  • what a great song

  • nice song! and nice picture where you got it from?

  • This is not a Townshend solo track. John Entwistle overdubbed all the wonderful horn parts.

  • pretty song i can laugh in the snow and rain.

  • What does the "Blue Red and Grey" refer to? I always thought it refered to England/Great Britan. Whatever it refers to I love the song!

  • A special kind of sunset or twilight. I always wondered that too, but a few years ago, I was outside listening to this and I looked at the sky. It was beautiful. Grey horizon, red just above then blue in the rest of the sky.

  • The transition of the evening sky from blue, to red during the sunset, to grey after sunset.

  • @clashlc it kinda sounds like he's referring to a sunset...

  • really, asmorgan. FAIL

  • Quite simply, my favorite of all his songs. He said it was "The chink in the armor" when referring to the despair that pervaded the rest of the album. This was a paean to life.

  • Beautiful. Simply mesmerizing. As you can see.... It's my favorite. I love Pete's uke and vocals.

  • jesus

its nice to be on this page here!

nuthin' but the obviously deserved praise.

No cunt tellin' us that "moon overplayed"

Just allround heids doon best band ever pish

    god bless yi

  • What a mesmerizingly soulful voice, lyrics, melody...

  • I once saw an article saying that Pete didn't want to include this song in the album in part because The Who By Numbers is the most dark and pessimistic album of The Who and Blue Red... wound'nt fit in with the other material. Fortunately, his manager made him change his mind.

I'm brazillian and here I don't know much people who like The Who, but it's still my favorite band and this song is brilliant!

  • Really? Well, I saw an article where Pete said he didn't want to include Blue, red & grey on the album 'coz the song was actually about him wanting to commit suicide. Glyn Johns (the producer) however wanted the song to be on the album ('coz he thought it was great) so they made it.

    Anyway, it's a great song / album !

    THE WHO ROCKS!

  • Well, I think I read the same article or something similar because Pete say he wanted to commit suicide in this one. But I think (I'm not sure) the song isn't about killing yourself... it has happy lyrics "But I like every minute of the day"? It's different from the depressing However Much I Booze, They are All In Love, How many Friends, etc the darkiest ones... but certainly I can be wrong and I misunderstood the article...

    Great song, great album 2

    THE WHO ROCKS! 2

  • in there ol' yin....in there!

  • i agree

  • Pete said once that growing up he listened to skiffle...This reminds me of lonnie donegon....If you dont see what i mean listen to lonnie donegon's ROCK ISLAND LINE...Its definetly on here somewhere....

  • This song rocks. It's one of my favorites.

  • PETE U GENIOUS!!

  • who is fricken best band ever townshend o fricken genious

  • Oh, Peter Dennis Blanford Townshend, I sure do love you.

  • great song

  • Great song. One of my favorites.

  • I love this song. but at the same time it makes me sad. It makes me want to enjoy every minute of the day because it can end tomorrow. love Pete and The Who

  • excellent comment. u should enjoy every day as a gift that you may not get again..

  • @DUDEplayer69

Well, if it really ends tomorrow for you, you as a perceiver will end with it and such won't perceive at all that it has ended.

Thus, this ain't the reason for enjoying your days, you just should try to because it feels better.

  • this song was played at my dads funeral, great song

  • @Gomer189 nice. good choice mate. God bless

  • @Gomer189 They played Mormon hymns at my dad's funeral. I really don't know why.

I'd like to have this song played at mine.

  • @hencoleman what if your dad was mormon and u didnt even know? hahaha, and srry about ur dad bro

  • @Gomer189 Bahaha! I think it has more to do with my mom's family being Mormon.

    Yeah, deaths suck and such.

    But life goes on.

    Best ironic remark ever.

Sorry about your dad too, btw.

  • not morbid, sublime to love every minute of life!!!

  • I love this song so much! :) I want it at my funeral - how morbid lol

  • Cool. great song. thanks for uploadin

  • who r u talking bout?
