  • Ken Shamrock vs Hidehiko Yoshida who wins and why?... Any one?

  • @savemgs

Yoshida via superior cardio. Ken gasses, Yoshida gets top position and taps him.

  • I had the honor of training with him in Japan. I've trained in Newaza all my life. I learned great standup from him as well as strengthened my ground skills. He is one of the best grapplers on the planet, and a true gentleman. I got to train with Mike Swain, Gene Labell and Sakuraba as well, though I learned catch wrestling techniques from him, not Newaza.

  • @khalsasikh you trained with sakuraba?! how was that??

  • @BluePittbull666 explain.

  • @BluePittbull666 just lol...

  • the man who beat one of the gracies :) gives me much more respect towards judo

  • 2:38 - O_O Inoue Kosei got dragged around like a doll.

  • @albmyslim stupid comment

  • Wow man that dojo is like the All Stars of Judo: Shinohara, Yamashita, Yoshida, Inoue....just incredible. Just think how much you could gain there. Probably more in one month than most Judoka gain in an entire year.

  • 私は吉田が戦うのを見ることを愛した。 彼に何が起こったか。

  • Damn, take a look at the size of that dojo ! Yoshida, Inoue and Yamashita under the same roof too. It would be like winning the lottery to even get a workout there.

  • To think htis guy had little or no striking experience at all and took a really vicious grappler alll the way to the end and lost on points.

Yoshida, the stuff of ledgeneds SORRY I CANT SPELL)

  • Comment removed

  • He is the bravest if not the toughest MMA fighter out there so much bravery from a non striker to take the noble art of judo to the ring and own, or take ppl alll the way im tellin you man jus liek bas said do not underestimate yoshida

  • Hell yeah! In the days of Pride Yoshida was a monster.

  • he even fought in Olympics he won a gold medal in judo

  • @khaledonia Hmmm brave sure, but you made it sound as if judo is half-assed art not capable of holding its own in the ring. In reality it goes something like this - he takes high-end judo and WIPES the floor with most fighters out there - that's not bravery that's pwnage.

  • @khaledonia How is he the bravest? Is he good? NO FUCKING SHIT HE'S GOOD, is he the best? I don't think so. Is he he the 'bravest', I don't know but I wouldn't make such a claim.

  • The white GI represents pureness in death . The samurai would wear a white gi under there armor to signify there readiness for death.

Blue is so u can see who's doing what in a match lol

  • did the samurai also wear more decorative gi's, or was it only white?

  • No. The white get signifies purity, they would wear a pure white gi under their armor. It was a thing they did to show there willingness to die a pure warriors death.

  • The gi is about 100 years old, was never worn by samurai and is white because it avoids the expense of buying dye.

The samurai, depending on how rich he was, would wear an armour robe under his armour.

  • you may be right about the dye and the armor robe, but the gi is older than 100 years, that much i do know.

  • The kimono only 100 years old? No, they used a white kimono, also known as a Gi

  • The kimono is ancient, the keikogi is 100-150 years old. At the time one of the attractions of Judo was it's modern, western style uniform because it had trousers rather than a hakama.

  • Yes and Jujitsu has been around for thousands of years, what did they use the whole time?

  • Kimono or armour, that's what they'd be wearing if they actually got into a fight. It was only after the meji restoration (1868) that someone (Kano) decided it was a good idea to create dedicated training clothes (keikogi), interestingly the original judogi didn't have sleeves, th jacket being modeled on firemen's uniforms. When sleeves were introduced they orginally stopped before the elbow, only when students complained of mat burn were they extended to their present length.

  • cool, thanks for the info

  • in training they dnt wear armor cuz it was judo and armor would b heavier, neither in the sparrings of kendo

  • @wpagan2006 kendo is the art of sword fighting in ancient japan they trained in full armor.they did not train in judo they trained in aikido judo comes from aikido.just as jiu jitsu comes from ninpo(ninjutsu)

  • every time i see videos of non japanese training in japanese dojos i always see the non japanese wearing blue gis instead of white. and the japanese where white but not blue, is there a reason for this or just coincidence???

  • Well, there is no rule who wears blue or white, blue or white gi came from matches, with 1 wearing blue and 1 wearing white its easier for the referees to see who does what. Thats all. However, japanese judoka's usually ONLY wear white EXEPT in matches if they have to. And we westerners wear blue cuz its looks cool ;)

  • this is an awesome vid. Love watching people training and just giving it their all.

  • judo>bjj

  • cool video thank you

  • Hey, guys. Do you think the Gi makes you perform worse in MMA competition?? I mean, look at how sweaty and dehydrated Yoshida looks in that Gi. He looked even more over-heated against Wanderlei. I love the Gi, but I wonder if it does more harm than good

  • Hmm...that's interesting. You can argue that, but also there is evidence that it wears out your opponent: Cro Cop looked like a slob against Yoshida. Though stamina never was his strength.

  • I think it's a double edged sword, it has it's pro's and con's

  • I think it depends on the organization. If an organization doesn't allow the Sleeve chokes, then there's little use to the gi. However, you just can't deny that the gi is cool as hell. For entertainment purposes, the gi is great. It gives people the sense like a Hollywood fighting movie has become reality and that's why I love it. Have you guys seen the old UFC fight Goodridge Vs. Herrera. Not only did the crucifix look cool, but the fact that he had a Gi on made it look even cooler

  • Look up Yoshihiro Akiyama, then ask that question.

  • Lol what are you talking about?

Go watch a judo match. One where they go to the ground and somebody gets choked out or put in an arm bar.

Or better yet. Do a Seoi-nage to someone on concrete with full force.

What are you talking about no finishing?

    Judo = throws + submissions

Educate yourself. Jiu-Jitsu and Judo are one and the same.

    Kimura > Helio Gracie.

  • What's your proof?

Sambo and Judo are virtually the same thing. (Even the founder of Sambo said it)

And we all know which fighter studied *Judo* then *Sambo* and out performed someone considered one of the greatest Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu guys.

  • Fedor is overrated?

People will say anything these days.

Here's an idea. How about we start naming heavyweights that Fedor *can't* beat.

    Let's try that.

  • Ricco is like Mike Tyson when he's focused on in proper shape he can beat anyone.

  • there's striking in Sambo. There's no striking in judo

  • And there's no striking in BJJ.. so I'm missing your point.

  • There's no striking in a judo tournament.

There's plenty of striking in the martial part of judo. The two are quite a bit different

  • There's striking in judo (atemiwaza) - it's just not taught very much now 'cos you can't use it in IJF competition.

  • I didn't know that you could ever strike in a judo fight, I've been taught in england and Striking has always been taught as against the rules

  • sambo has more leg locks and submission holds than judo

  • No it doesn't, you can completely improvise in Judo, and there are only like 3 leg-locks.

  • lol judo come's from jujitsu, and jujitsu has every dam lock u can think off.. T like sambo.. fedor is a god

  • Yes Judo came form Japanese Jujitsu... but Bjj came form Judo.

  • There for BJJ is just a JJJ hand me down like Judo..

  • There for BJJ is a hand me down form Judo. which is a hand me down fomr JJJ so BJJ is a sloppy seconds of JJJ

  • Not sloppy buy any means ,tho its should be noted that the founding students of Jujutsu were the Samurai warriors of Japan , who studied the art of war and killing on the battlefield, for hundreds if not thousands of years. Most everything we think we have come up with has already been forgotten, found and forgotten again.

  • that would be sloppy thirds :d

  • @Brazilianjj Brazilian Jiu Jitsu came from Japanese Jiu Jitsu which was taught to the gracie family, not judo. Judo took over as the primary martial art after a Judo team beat a Jiu Jitsu team in Japan and it was then the official martial art of Japanese police, since they don't have guns. I know my stuff.

  • @AudienceKiller66 Obviously you dont know your stuff... seeing as how in 1904 Mitsuyo Maeda who was a "JUDOKA" traveled around the world taking challenges from other styles. In 1914 he came to Brazil, at that time Judo was called "Kano Jujitsu" after kano Jigoro. What was taght to the gracies was kano Jujitsu.. which is JUDO. I know my stuff. If you dont beleive it go look on the gracies website under history of Gracie jiujitsu. all of what i said is true

  • @Brazilianjj The word Judoka, isn't even on the page. The fact that it says Traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu, means something. Just cause Maeda knew Judo, doesn't mean he didn't know Jiu Jitsu before they outlawed it in Japan. And it's not Mitsuyo Maeda it's Esei Maeda. Who is a champion IN jiu jitsu, and A student of Jigoro Kano, who also knew Japanese Jiu Jitsu. If they learned Judo, they would've called it Gracie Judo, no?

  • @AudienceKiller66 they should have called it judo because thats what they were taught, along with the self defense that was part of judo.Maeda trained far longer in judo than he did in jj(which by the way was nothing like a realistic style since they rarely or never sparred).Esai and mitsuyo are the same person.

  • @AudienceKiller66 mitsuyo and esei are the same my bad.

  • @AudienceKiller66 every resource on bjj agrees that it was judo that carlos learned,it may have been influenced by the mixed style matches and training maeda did before landing in brazil but it was still larely judo.At the time judo was still called jj even in japan, the live sparring minus atemi differentiated it from jj.

  • @billysue2 hmm. Then I guess we could just say Judo/Jiujitsu/BJJ are all the same thing. Thanks for the information. Should meld it all into one art.

  • @AudienceKiller66 FYI Maeda originally trained in sumo. Switched to kodokan Judo. Basically he teach everything he learnt from kodokan Judo to the Gracies which is also called Kano Jui Jitsu at that time.

  • @Brazilian judo comes from aikido. jujitsu brazilian and japanese come from ninpo(ninjutsu)judo and aikido where practiced by the samurai.jujitsu was practiced by the ninja clans it was used to complement there weapons techniques.

  • @metalfrommaine actually, the samurai did aikijujutsu, both aikido and japanese jujutsu as we know it today come from aikijujutsu. judo comes from jujutsu. brazilian jujutsu comes from judo. the ninja clans' have nothing to do with this lineage..

  • @metalfrommaine dude you are wrong.

  • What's even more funny...

Is that as you typed this, in the related videos panel there's a video of Yoshida choking out Royce.

"Usually outperform Judo fighters" hahaha, right.

  • lol i think i am tearing up, bjj for a street fight. are you actually serious have you been in a street fight? so lets say your attack you and going to jump guard in the lay the ground full of piss, shit, glass and other garbage. in a street fight you need self defense not bjj. i rather suggest; shotokan, kyukoshin, boxing, judo, sambo, jujistu, sanda, muaythai, kickboxing, wing chun, ving chun, kenpo, any of those other than bjj, bjj is cool for mma and one on one but not street fighting.

  • yea yea... WTF are you on about altho im gald u mentioned judo I hate the way people judge a martial art by "yea but if a guy came at you in the street" if a guy came at me in the street with a wepon, id give him what he wanted, if he didnt have a wepon id just punch him in the nose and move on

  • What the heck was that at 2:55? Looked pretty cool.

  • That was Uchi-mata-sukashi.

  • lol at the end.

  • its not that he is messing aobut, its that the videographer did a lousy job recording.

  • my buddy from my judo gym said that henderson said yoshida just partied like an animal lol.

  • wheres the rest of the documentary?

  • He just messes about! no training at all!!
