The gains not too high the mic is breaking up because its a poor quality mic. In order to do the pitch harmonics like Syn does you need higher gain.

As a matter of fact i stumbled upon this technic wlihe trying to sweep :P so just try it different ways and see whats more comfortable to you. Thats all i can say :)
