OSX is not distracting, all the animation and visual is there for a reason, completely different from the clutter that you find on Vista's desktop.

@insidegui By default, Vista and Win7 only had the Recycle Bin on their Desktops. Hardly cluttered at all.

Least Apple listens better then Microsoft. I haft to admit wallpaper does make a difference in overall feel of OS X now. Which is cool & nice alternative to when they used themes back in the OS 9 days.

I'm pretty sure you're referring to transparency, which was FIRST on OS X back in the year 2000. In fact, the windows used to be transparent back in OS X jaguar, just like vista..but Microsoft copied that idea. They took an old OS and copied it to a new OS to make it seem like they weren't copying anybody..

you might have noticed that they changed the default desktop to the solar system one - nothing like vista's

as for overall feel, GenCollado is right - transparent windows were copied, as were many of the UI functions (such as search, as you said, but also the calendar, mail etc. programs). i can't see how the overall feel is at all similar on leopard, it's mostly expanded upon from earlier versions of os x. vista looks nice, i'll admit, but so does leopard and it runs better.

Sure, Apple were first to have desktop compositing, but Microsoft were first to apply it with a total lack of taste and disregard for good design. That's what Apple copied in Leopard. That's why people in the audience are laughing when Jobs reveals the new look - it looks like a parody of Vista.

Nice desktop, but it's weird how everyone oooos and ahhhs as Mr. Jobs spoon feeds them kindergarten computer information. Like what? You figured out people use digitla photos for there backgrounds!? No way! And people download stuff to the desktop? SINCE WHEN! Geez it's a good thing you put a folder on the dock for me. HAhah. WTF? Mac users have trouble making new folders to organize stuff?? Guess I never knew...
