Hello everyone I am the guy serving in the video. I appreciate the comments and suggestions on my serve. I can never be a Roger federer but I do strive to have similar form because he does everything textbook perfect and that has something to do with all his grand slams. Btw these are different camera angles but I feel the suggestions on here are still relevant. Thanks again!
Nice job trying to copy but your wrist is too straight on the wind up and you elbow is too high on the back drop and so you got no power on your serve. You got as much power as my sister. Get a new coach.
One very late comment, but your ball toss is incorrect: toss it more along the baseline. You miss that extra shoulder turn Federer and all great serves have because of this slight flaw.
Your stance is different than his (notice the separation of his feet compared to yours), he coils his left foot out more than you do as he leans forward, he has more of a rocking motion, his right foot comes off the ground as he leans forward, your racquet face is too far open, he brings the racquet upright above his shoulder faster than you do, his shoulders are angled more steeply than yours at peak toss (see 0:11 for racquet diff.) I think 0:11 pretty much shows the extent of the differences.
Very similar form and fluency, good toss. Looks like Roger has a bit more knee bend and coils his body more. You seem a tad bit stiffer. He jumps a bit higher. I think you have a solid serve; you're comparing yourself to a guy who's probably a genetic freak.
You don't turn your shoulders like he does. His back is almost facing the court when he tosses. Your serve also looks a bit tight and forced, while Federer's is oh so fluid.
Keep it up, kiddo. The only difference between you and Federer is 16 grand slams. They say the first grand slam is the hardest, but the 15 slams after that is a piece of cake!
... good serve man! very relaxed... good pronation. Maybe try bending your knees a tad bit more so you kick up and generate more energy like Fed does!
the difference is his feet. They are both facing the court(i dont know why but it helps alot). his back arch helps his get up or the serve and accelorate faster. also his arm is a lot loser which gives him a whip motion.
You'd look nearly identical if you used your legs and body rotation to produce pace rather than your arm. Look at the videos, that's the only difference. You're arming it with a stiffer arm than Fed. He's totally relaxed.
aj ajjajajajaja how dare u compare to roger man ajjajajajajja you are a complete looser ¡¡¡ only for this you are a complete DESCONOCIDO MUERTO DE HAMBRE
The Diffence here. Is Your Flat Serving it, While he's Twist Serving it Notice that Slight Angle Slash on his Racket? What You're Doing Wrong is Not Angle Slashing the Ball To Roll it, that Slight Angle Roll Causes the Ball to Hit and Bounce in the Opposite Direction Its also Known as a Kick Serve. That Slight Slash that your missing is also causing your Ball to go Straight.
0:08 more tension in racket arm & so arm is more bent & higher off the ground & more forward in the set-up. U need to have a relaxed upper body.
0:09 U shifted ur left leg leftwards and have narrowed your stance. Due to upper body tension, ur left hand is low compared to ur left shoulder, so you create less stretch potential. U need to keep left leg silent & stay more relaxed & down. Ur legs are more upright than feds & this carries all the way thru the service motion.
0:10 Now ur legs are too close. Your left hand not straight up. Your right elbow too high & ur racquet too vertical. Ur racquet should point slightly forward.
0:11 Cos of ur earlier narrowed feet stance and elevated & relatively straighter legs, U now have way less elevation. Ur earlier low left hand & body tension has less pull effect to make a strong shoulder-over shoulder acceleration. Ur racquet drop is much lower than fed's. Not wrong, but old-school.
Visually they are similar, but what prevents them from being identical is where the major differences are. You are not utilizing your entire lower body and core as Federer does, which is most likely due to the fact that your trophy position is nowhere near as upright as Fed's is (note how his tossing arm stays pointed to the sky and you're pointing almost to the fence).
Well, nice job synching the videos, but sorry, your serve and Federer's are worlds apart.
1. Your racquet is way out from your body at the start of swing. See 10 sec mark. Federer's swing is much tighter at start and leading up to strike.
2. BY FAR the most noticeable difference is your lack of "coil". You have have a consistent swing speed though out. Notice the coiling motion when the racquet is behind Federer's ear and then the acceleration to ball strike.
holy shit.. you guys were both using the same rackets and almost the same motion i couldn't tell who was federer @ first! nice job... i tried to copy federer, but i can't move my feet around 1 second before ball contact
You both have the simple traditional service motion...it's a natural flow. Then you have to learn the variations with that motion. As you grow you'll be able to put more weight into that ball!
0:08 more tension in racket arm & so arm is more bent & higher off the ground & more forward in the set-up. U need to have a relaxed upper body.

@NewLeaX1 its called style. the adaptation of style is very common and i've seen alot of people do it. people might have seen a certain style and use their love of a certain move style to motivate their actions. i did the same thing when i used to skate.
nearly identical but federers looks more solid for some reason.....his trophy pose looks better i guess....
