when i connect this monitor to my laptop, can I just close my laptop without losing display on the samsung monitor? Or do i HAVE to keep it open and have two screens on my desk?

Depends on what you have your computer set to. If you have your computer set to hibernate on display closed, the computer will hibernate when you close the display. If not, then you can close the laptop and run only on monitor.

The horizontal veiwing agle is good but the vretical isnt.I have three of these as i can not tolerate having different model monitors set up in muti display.

thers no HDMI or RCA input but you can find an other model from the same serie with HDMI input try to add HD to this model's name at the end and see if theres one
