  • Take the double kick out of the picture. Your like a death metal dad.

  • Does this guy even realize that he is soooo much better than like 99% of all pro drummers? Lol

  • *Goes ham*

"Anyways have some fun with it"

  • Wow really truly excellent

    Thanks for the quad tips

  • HEY you are so cool!!

  • @2:03 Woah! Beast mode= on

  • this guy is a fucking monster.

  • 75% of Hard Rock Drummers do this... There are very FEW drummers out there that are truly great. The ones that can improvise and play along with anything regardless of the style are the true artists.

  • 2:57-2:59 ----- Welcome to the Family?

  • *Kneels down in utter awe*

  • 2:36 obZen :D

  • 2:03..shit my pants. ahah, wasn't expecting that!

  • Great solo material!

  • I love this guy!

    1 he's not cocky

    2 he is pro XD

3 he knows how to really play drums

    10 i skipped 4-9 cuz hes awesome

so for that... i subbed :D

  • Added tip - Use your spash like a tom for added effect! sounds incredible in this circumstance :)

  • I want him for my orchestra (when I get one(if I get one(if I want one)))

  • This is sweet bro. Learned from it even though I already know about'em.

  • Do you have two 8" toms? For some reason the two toms on the far left creep me out.

  • Good lesson, check out Kyle Batty lessons on youtube.

  • @TheLedzep007

yea, i use a power shifter, and i can shuffle my foot back and forth to create a fast double hit against the bass drum...it took me a year to get it up to full capacity...i dont think i have of video of it yet, but ill see what i can do...

  • i can do this with one foot...no lie

  • a bit too much overtone on the third rack tom :/ but still great vid =D

  • Those toms sound really good

  • Beautiful. The next time somebody posts Joey Jordison doing this as his entire solo and tries to justify his brilliance....I'll refer them here to show a gentleman in a shirt chilling after work and blowing him out the water :-) Fantastic educational vid.

  • how do you tune your toms to perfection like that!

  • VANSDRUMMING, ACCOUNTANT BY DAY, AMAZING DRUMMER BY NIGHT

  • It seems that you think a quadruplet is a group of four sixteenth notes. That's completely wrong, tuplets change the division of time. I've never seen quadruplets but they could be used in 6/8 time. In 4/4 the term is meaningless.

  • honor thy father

  • whoa 1:11 sounds like 1 part in Joey Jordison's drum solo

  • 64 people are play on traschcan´s

  • Jeesus christ good very good tips, great lesson, thanks

  • that was awesome. he fools around a bit and then teach. i want a teacher like thats :3

  • I can dig it

  • This was Great!

  • 2:04 thats what i thought yesterday xD

  • what kind of stroke u use ?

  • such a simple concept but sounds amazing

  • Love doing this now, especially when using heel toe technique, it sounds a lot faster!

  • @ 2:49. almost sounded like he was gonna break into a Zep song :D , great vids , always wanted to play drum.......... lil old to start but by god , sure would be fun to learn .... especially since I'm a huge Zep fan ,and more of a Bonzo fan , I know where to come to get thye basics n get started ...... fkn drums are expensive as fk tho if my memory serves me coorectly ... damn

  • Jeez. Nice set.

  • 2:04 John Bonham + Joey Jordison :D

  • it's so plaisant to see someone playing so easely ! +1

  • i love watching you go effortlessly crazy haha.

  • its funny... he get carried away so much. Sounds alot like me, but ofcourse he is sooooo much better. Great Vid.

  • attack attack drummer learn from this ahahahah! jk :)

  • Dude, thanks so much. I was trying to learn to do that and this was by far the best if not the only video that taught me how to do it ;)

  • YEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooohhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a double bass drum pedal I want to get as fast as Randy. It will happen one day.

    Keep up the videos...

  • I'll stick on you !! hehehehee

  • That was... awesome! xD

  • @vansdrumming im already pretty experienced with double bass drum fills, about 3 years, but at around 3:45, can you please please either tab it out or just tell me your technique and/or sticking?

  • neil peart wants half of his kit back!

  • 2:18 i love the little rudiment you did on that high tom from the snare, sounds awesome

  • Best...4 minutes of my life. Thank you!

  • This would've been a 10/10 drum lesson. Needs more cowbell.

  • His passion and love for the drumset is evident in his teachings. I particularly like how he demonstrates the riff slowly enough to grasp the feel and then just takes it to the jams for a few dozen seconds or so. Good stuff and most enjoyable to watch. I bought his DVD and have learned a lot from it. If you're into good instructionals for drumset techniques, go ahead and add his to your list of 'must haves'. You won't regret it.

  • God I love you,,

  • Is that....Dougs boss from the King of Queens?

  • Congradualtions, you can now copy any of Joey Jordisons drum solos.

  • he should be in a Swedish melodic blackened death metal band, like Behemoth

  • @MrManagerTJ Behemoth? swedish??

  • @xxXMisanthropyXxx haha my bad polish

  • great video, the hardest thing about teaching is getting the student to be smooth...

1e+a2e+a3e+a4e+a ha ha great job. 10 / 10. cheers jay drummer

  • he gettn' cought up in the monment. XD

  • We can't live without drums =D

    Thumb up if you agree

  • Dude!

What size toms do you have in order??

  • yay now i can play like joey jordison lol

  • very nice

  • What sound recording tools did he use eh?

  • What rack do you use?

  • 3:09 probably one of the greatest sounding drum fills i have ever heard

  • @mnunez31 and how after he goes......anywayy :L thats quality

  • 2:04-2:15

  • You make it look easy. You're old but you rock :D

  • 2:04 epic. nice video man.

  • the pattern that starts at exactly 2:57 is def a Mike Portnoy beginning to a song i 4 get the name :/ just thought id point that out...cool tip

  • @AADrummer4Life the song is from dream theater. it's called honor thy father :) quite sick intro btw

  • @MH1Jackson righ right its a fav on my page i just forgot sadly lol thx for helpin me out haha

  • yeah, i didn't think these were quadruplets. damn.

  • Amaizing..........................

  • I'm trying to work up my speed but am having a lot of difficulty making it smooth. Does this just come after lots of practice?

  • @lillidys well, yeah, but playing at really slow tempos (like 60bpm) with a metronome should help ease out any choppiness in your playing provided you speed it up gradually.

  • @lillidys YES! it's ALL practice dude! practice practice practice!

  • @lillidys yes

  • if you think this is hard then search travis orbin

  • crazy chops

  • what double pedal do you use??

  • This came naturally to me i learned the day i got double kicks

  • Killer suit man

  • search: amorphic drum

    what is this technique??

  • i dont get it, everything he did was simple stuff i learned at the age of like... 14? and even them came easy. 400,000 views my ass

  • @mmnjk99 Same lol.... i can play everything he does... he doesn't even teach you how to do 6's !

  • It's funny, you do this at a live show, and the crowd will eat out of your hand, even though it only takes a few months to learn. However, if you try some latin 4 way syncopation, nobody would even think about clapping.

Great lesson, and after seeing this and the Bonham triplets video, I subscribed.

  • @JustaMSdude it's a pretty simple world out there :/

  • @JustaMSdude yeah all of joey jordison's drum solo are all quads and then everyone is like WOOOOOOOOO! when hes just playing a simple thing over and over again

  • @JustaMSdude few....months??? really?

  • @JustaMSdude Lmao, that is so true dude. Case and point, "Joey Jordison is a good drummer." or some variant of such, is said on almost every drum video on YouTube.

  • @JustaMSdude haha yea i guess you gotta adapt to the listeners ears. people just want to watch a crazy-ass double bassing, sweaty drummer go wild and fill their ears with toms and double bass

  • @JustaMSdude yeh....thats sad how what you say is true, atleast some people are smart on here... and btw getting REALLY good at quads does eventually take skill for uber long sessions/fills etc.

  • OUTSTANDING!!

  • wow! you are a really good drummer!

  • quads and 16th note triplets....so simple but soooo fun:)

  • Comment removed

  • thanks

  • @ 3:17 You sound like "Rrrawwrr, faster! Faster!" but you look like "it's just another slow drum trick, i feel kinda sleepy" :D

  • The classic joey jordison fill :P

(he uses it in like 13 songs of slipknot xD)

  • so..........yeah.....

  • I wish a can do that, i got i 7 piece drum iam 32 and i only play basic drumming

  • just so u know im gonna steal your drumset :)

  • i do this but with single pedal using heel toe method.

  • @rambo190470 yeah, me too...unless I'm double-bassing anyway, of course.

  • @rambo190470 Me too, You dont need a double bass for this. Now if you were doing triplets on the bass With this fill then yeah Double Bass :D

  • @SoundOfSorrowSOS yeah im thinking about getting double pedal soon :D

  • @rambo190470 I'm getting a Premier 4000 Double bass pedal. XD

  • @rambo190470 Same here.

  • @rambo190470 i do it with my nose.

  • @rambo190470 SINGLE PEDAL POWER!!!

  • @dogfoodman12 heh :)

  • man you went all out there at the end lol

  • YAY you have a cowbell :D

  • r u using a double kick pedal or sigle kick pedal?

  • @bigdre1981 double kick

  • Amazing Man. :]]

    I'm so practicing that.

  • He gets alittle into it dont you think??

  • @texas833 wouldn't be a good drummer unless he got " a little into it" =P

  • I love how your just like "Anyway have some fun with it" and then just start going crazy, you can tell your enjoying it haha. Great video by the way

  • Sickkk

  • your style reminds me of mike portnoy

  • do you do right left on the double bass or left right?

  • put a ring around what? and what ring?

  • @austincrazyballer google dampening rings, i prefer moongel over rings tho, offers more flexibility.

  • very easy to do

  • how do u get ur snare not to vibrate when u hit ur toms?

  • @austincrazyballer put a ring around it or tighten the snares on the bottom of the snare drum.

  • I wanna pee in this guys butt!

  • DUDE YOUR SOOOO awsome rock on man rock on

  • you look like my highschool woodshop teacher Mr.Simpson! sic drumming dude lol im gonna practice that

  • Just like Mike Portnoy.

  • @Fyldig07 Better.

  • good stuff

  • that is pretty cool, and you are awesomely fast as well =]

you really do seem to know what you are talking about, unlike some of the videos on here!

  • i always though this back and forth shit was gay until i heard it used in the drum fill in Lamb of God's "ruin" its fuckin crazy. except its doubles over triples, not doubles over doubles.

  • Sweet clean cut bad ass percussionist

  • I had just started to feel good about myself.....

  • @elijahcrigger Same... lmao

  • my drum instructor can do this without a double bass. he uses the slider technique. hey pushes the pedal down and slides up his foot and catches the bounce of the pedal. he can go pretty fast but i dont know if he can go crazy like you did at 3:00

  • very cool (=

  • Cool tips. Nice drumming dawg!

  • This is the best ever. Thanks! I was trying to figure out a good solo, and this helped!

  • Wow dude. I figured you were, like, a band teacher. You very well may be, but I saw the whole double bass quadruplets thing and I was confused. I watched this video.. And Holy. Shit. You are good. How long have you been playing?

  • dude you rock, how come your not in a band, those were some of the sickest fills ever

  • i like how he rapes... then looks at the camera all embarrassed and says "anyway" lol

  • 2:35 sounds like around 3:10 of "HTML Rulez D00d" for those of you that listen to The Devil Wears Prada.

    At least in my opinion.

  • Your Quads an triplets are incredible . The smoothest on any video ive seen . I just turned forty and took up the drums about 8 months ago and im getting all of my tips on you tube and must say Ive gotten the best instruction from your videos . Youre an incredible drummer.

  • Im 44, have 2 kits in my house, havent sat at one in months and because of this video, Im on a mission! You are phenominal, thanks for the insperation.

  • how do u remove snare buzz?!

  • @iloveincubus93 Proper tuning.

  • Very nice vid

  • is it just me, or is this dudes set epic bacon
