When your riding a bike you definitely need to pay double attention, once for yourself, and once for anyone else around you. If you honestly expect other drivers to be intelligent enough and respectful enough to have your safety in mind then its a matter of time before your injured or killed. Period.

I did the same thing. I quick looked to my left but moved at the same time. I cut off a 'biker' and he sped right my and flipped me off. I felt like sh't and new that I was habitually driving. I have had so many close calls while riding and I would believe that most of them were honest mistakes by cagers, but those same HONEST MISTAKES that could have killed me. Some are just evil- and would not give you a break. I have personally learned not to panic during those close calls. Being calm saved me more than a few time. I had one major accident when a car that is being driven by a 71yo grandpa crossed my path. I T-boned him. Riding motorcycle is my YOGA!

If you are riding in the right side of that lane the driver could see you in their side mirror, being on the left side you are invisible to them.

Secondly adding air horns to wake them up are a real help when needed.

I really like your videos and I've subscribed as well. Where i live, people die in motorbike accidents everyday (minimum 1 each day:Fact) and that's just in my city alone. I'm a rider as well but all i got is a 350cc cruiser and out there on the roads its a battle for space and life for us. The rules of the road here can actually kill you if you obey them since no one else ever does :|

i'll tell you the best way to ride is not to "live in that area" of the road, because noone can see you when they look in their mirrors, it will just happen again and again. the safest way to ride is to weave, ride on the inside of the lane as you approach vehicles so they can see you in the mirrors and push to the outside lane as you come up next to them in the event that they come over anyway. i have several hundred thousand miles in traffic on my bike and this method will cut down cutovers.

The neat thing about those diamonds painted in the left lane? They show people that those are the carrpool/HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lane. Meant for cars and trucks with 2 or more people, not a passing lane for bikes. Sorry if I sound like an asshole, just telling it as it is.
