  • that girl should lose some weight and she might get some of the things she wants. also, clearly the neighborhood she lives in is full of criminals. she should move out of there and into a better neighborhood, possibly get a house and a car.

  • @jookieloom

yeah because everything u said is sooo easy for poor broke people

  • This movie is so sad

  • its about damn time the book was made into a movie. You have to read the book if you are going to see the movie. its soooo damn good

  • i think it called "i can see in color"

  • Its Called Destiny- MAry J.Blige

  • you seriously criticizing Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry? Two of the most philanthropic people in all of the world? If we make a black movie based on action it would not sell, that's the reality! 80% of moviegoers are white, are they going to see a black action film? I say play to your strengths. If a story is good then i am going to see it. Shame on you for talking bad about Oprah and Tyler Perry though.

  • I read the book Push a couple years ago I loved it I can't wait to see this movie

  • 1:00 like the movie color purple?

  • I read the whole entire book, i found is satisfied! It bragged my mind to read 5 chapters every hour. I'm looking forward to see this movie!

  • it bragged your mind??

    wtf?

  • We have to make our variety and make a completely new genre. We always do its just stolen and then we're duped into thinking that it isn't ours anymore.

When are we gonna wake up?

  • = racism

  • Can we get a decent movie starring a black cast that isn't about hard times in the hood, violence or church? It would be nice to see a thriller, a mystery, and action film or a true romantic film - not a comedy. The actors might be great, but the content is of no interest to me. It's time for something new.

And why is Oprah so in love with projects about the downtrodden black experience? Also, Tyler Perry is a joke as a filmmaker, so I guess he figured he'd try exec producing this.

  • Its up to us to educate people and create our own movies that aren't backed by people who own the industry. Oprah and Tyler sold their souls to them. It won't change unless we change our way of thinking and stop riding on the backs of those who made it by societies means. We must make our own, support and use our own. And stop supporting things that are not our own or look to be our own but behind the scenes its really of someone elses origins. This movie only advocates the bad in us.

  • I agree. Why is this the ONLY segment of Black society that seems to be celebrated by the masses? This is NOT the only story that exists for Blacks. Not all of us live in the jects, are abused, on welfare, pregnant, etc. looking for a White or light skin savior to rescue us from our fate! There are plenty of Black authors who write books about varied subjects that would make wonderful screenplays. Can we have some variety?

  • @airbak

We have it. But we won't support it and that isan unfortunate reality.

  • touché!

  • @bellaalma

It comes down to supporting what you mentioned. We talk a good game but we won't back it up. Many movies like what you mentioned have came out,but if blacks won't get out and support them, there's nothing we can do.

We can't complain about how we're portrayed when we turn round and support the ish.

  • @NicolaWriter

I agree with you. It's sad because I do support the kinds of films that I mentioned. However, when I spend money to see them in theatres, there are very few people there. Yet, TP movies pracitically sell out. If that's what people like, then cool. However, we are not a monotype as an audience. We need some diverse perspectives out there. No one else is going to do it for us but us.

  • @bellaalma both of u r wrong this flim is made my tyler perry and opera and this films help actual people that live this every day and give them chocies and the flim tells them what to to

  • I read the book and it sad i want to see this movie so bad and it jus makes me want to start a business workin with these type of people help them let them be free to share their ideas thoughts this is all true and AMERICA needs to wake see the facts and the government needs to do something about this

  • omg when i was in middle school my mom jacked this book from me out my room..this movie looks REALLy good

  • Just sharing information-

This movie, "PRECIOUS", won the "Cadillac People's Choice Award" at the Toronto film festival.

  • Not satisfied to just acknowledge an amorphous "every body attached to this project...". So excited, I want to name names!!!

It is so SPECIAL to see sisters collaborating like this- bringing their talents and resources together.

BIG SHOUT OUTS TO - Sapphire, Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton, Sherri Shepard, Oprah Winfrey, and Mary J. Blige. Welcome Gaborey "Gabby" Sidibe!

Big ups for the brothers, too- Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels, and Lenny Kravitz!

    APPRECIATE ALL!!!

  • So few movies portray the reality of the lives of a large segment of people in society. It is just refreshing, inspiring, and healing to have this on the screen.

Life has its feast times and its famine times. We learn from both. It is especially important for young people to know that you do move through the challenges to triumphant places particularly when you wake up the powers within.

Kudos to everybody attached to this project of overcoming the limitations and grabbing joy!

  • I can't wait to see the movie. I am going to read the book first.

  • i read this book before its just so sad. i wanna see the movie when do it come out

  • Comes out in November

  • I head about this movie a while back but where can I see it???

  • I want to see this movie.

  • loooove this book.

  • I wonder if they are going to feature the father at all in this film .... what he did to Precious was pretty horrific and graphic but he was significant in the story since he got her pregnant twice and would come to the house to rape her repeatedly ... and her mother abused her sexually too ... I hope this film shows the book justice but I'm scared to go see it.

  • i really commend monique for playing this role. not every role is going to be glamorous or the "good guy". she portrayed an unthoughtful mother incredibly well and thats what makes a good actress, one that can take on many roles.

  • i want to see this soooo bad.

  • what is the name of that song playing at 2:10? It sounded like mary j blige.

  • It is Mary ... the song is called "Destiny"

  • This looks like a wonderfull movie, and I wish I could get the book. No parent in their right mind would treat their daughter lower than dirt. Mo'Nique's character needs to support her daughter not make her feel worse. I hope her dad gets locked up for life for doing what he did to her.

  • shut up

  • the author of the book used to b my neighbor when i was younger. this is based on her life. she never allowed men in her apartment and she lived with a woman who wud fix everything for her bc our super was a man. she gave me a doll i still have. she is a nice woman it's jus sad she went through this.

  • This girl has gone through hell!! Read the book. I only read a few pages because it was my friends book. She also told me about it. The girl has been getting raped since age 3! She feels guilt because she enjoys it. My jaw dropped when I read some of that stuff. Read the book then see the movie. If your not crying or touched you must not have a heart..

  • I love this book and would recommend that every take a chance to read it before watching the movie. I cant wait to check out the movie..i hope its as good as the book.

  • what's horrible is the ending. o god, it makes me wanna cry

  • ma mom siad dha ending wuznt satisfying... it wuznt straightforward. it let dha reader haning.....

  • Wow! The trailer is powerful enough, I can't wait to see the movie. Mo'Nique is getting major Oscar buzz for thismovie. Looks great!! Can't wait!!

  • WOW

  • i wud love to watch this show

  • Comment removed

  • this looks amaaaazing!!!

  • I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

  • I can't wait to see this movie. I read the book and it's the most shocking novel I've ever read. There is not reprieve. With every page that's turned yet another horrendous abuse is perpetuated on this poor girl. I can't wait to see how the actress who portrays Precious carries the role. It's not an easy role, its extremely demanding. I hope that the movie is as good as the book. And what a change for Monique! Wow! From a comedian to an evil villain!

  • my mom read da book, & she said it wuz too graphic 4 me 2 read, so i wuz hoping 2 see da movie, but it wuz rated r, so ill wait 2 see wat happens

  • The book was really frightening. I wanna see how it compares.

  • i cant wait this is one of my favorite movie

  • I read the book like 15yrs ago and always wondered if this book will be too visually and emotionally hard for the big screen then plus i thought they might half-ass it. But with tyler perry and oprah behind it, this will be a good product.

  • When will we all be able to see this?

  • The beginning of November

  • i wanna see this so badddd...when will it come out and will it play in regular movie Theaters

  • Just from the trailer I'll bet that Mo'Nique will be nominated for best supporting actress in the Oscar, Golden Globe, and any other awards out there!
