@gmmix It is very good to be one of these doll songs of the 20s. The speed on the machine was bit fast when this was recorded, unfortunately. I might do a re-post some day.
@victorbrunswick Edison was a real stubborn man when it came to this, but at least his customers in the rural areas were happy. You can tell from the 5000 series that Country music sold better than the Fox Trots by the numbers that have survived.
I see that your record does not go onto the mandrel all the way. This is a very common problem with blue amberols. The inside of the record is made of plaster. When the plaster absorbes moisture it swells causing the record to not fit onto the machine. They make a tool that is tapered like the mandrel with emery cloth on it called a record reamer. It is used to ream the record so it will fit the mandrel correctly. I have had this problem with about half of my blue amberols. Very nice record.
I have a reamer, but I only use it when it's a problem with the playing of the records, this plays very good, but I have a couple of cylinders that has been reamed because they was so far out on the mandrel that the reproducer didn't get to the end of the record.
Where did you get your reamer? I have had a couple of records that were swollen so bad that the carriage could not slide far enough to play all of the record that hung off the end of the mandrel. I all also only ream if it is necessary.
Good sound. Enjoyable rendition. Thank you.

It's amazing they were still producing cylinder recordings as late as 1927. But then we're talking Edison.

Just search for Blue Amberol on ebay, there are reamers listed there almost all the time.
