That looks like a simple omnidirectional with VHF dipoles. Yagis will give much better reception but they're directional and most are engineered for channels 14-69.

Yeah, the VHF dipole is basically rabbit ears (small gain) and its omni directional design is why it probably works so well for UHF. Much more powerful UHF and VHF antennas can be found but at the expense of beam width, ie more precise aim at the transmitters will be required.

I'm surrounded by lots of digital services (3 active TV-towers in Berlin, 1 in Frankfurt/Oder, 1 in Cottbus, 1 in Wittenberg, and 1 or 2 in Poland near the border to Germany). Maybe that antenna could bring me a few more towers from longer distances. In Poland they transmit an HD channel over the air!
