when a car revs too high do the spark plugs stop burning fuel and the extra gas goes straight to the exaust to burn and that was the little bit of smoke?

Yup, they changed to a hatchback cuz the hatchback body's got a stiffer torsional rigidity (meaning less weight transfer during turns).

I hate the looks of the headlights tho.

not a big fan of the wagon, but its dif, and subaru wanted to go in a dif direction. they saw how well the mazdaspeed 3 was selling, so I think.....i think they changed for that reason, not for sure though,

yes, subaru and mitsubishi are always trying to improve performance. but, i believe they did this to attrack a different fan base. a lot of people are now going to the mazdaspeed 3, including myself. i have a 2009 and am very happy with it. cost 10,000 less than a STI. the wrx and now the lancer ralliart compare to the mazda. i test drove all three cars before buying and found the lancer and mazda more superior. choose the mazda cause of a freinds father being a dealer and got a GREAT deal.

HAHA, you don't fishtail with fwd.. the front end just plows ahead. More gas makes it worst since it spins out and you get no traction for the turn. I vowed to never own one again. And yes, when you QUICKLY pull the e-brake in an agressive turn it kicks your ass end out and THEN you can gas it. FWD is for girls

what are you talkin about? you do fishtail on a fwd car. to correct it, you have to counter steer and gun the shit of the car. the front wheels will pull the car forward. If you go into a turn, don't let go of the gas. or you will lose the back end of the car. sways bars? look this up. you obviously have no clue. so you owned a 2003 maxima...and before that a 2009 civic? hows that possible? a 09 before a 03? please don't make up shit. you don't have to lie on youtube and not impress me.

'99 Civic... my bad. I have never driven a fwd that kicks the ass end out in a turn. It's always a bad case of understeer and torque steer all in one. One thing I know for sure, when your front wheels are spinning in a turn, the car plows ahead instead of pointing where you want to go. Only when the back wheels are spinning or locked(e-brake) then the ass end will kick out. At that point, yes you pin it out. The fwd platform was designed for economy, not performance. WRX>MAZDA no contest

yeah, awd will always be so mich better compared to fwd. and yes, I would of gotten the sti but the money was a problem. I spent 10,000 less for a a car I love. I wish i would of known about the ralliart, which is a nice car also. I see what you mean about the fwd cars. good stuff.

your not a douche, more of a jerk. lol, jk. wrx is the same money, but lot slower. the mzdspeed3 pulls on the sti when on a role. from a dig, the sti smokes the ms3. the ralliart is awd and a great car. I would of gotten that one if I waited. the evo was selling for under 30,000 just cause mitsu overstocked their evo's. I had 2 friends buy evo's the same say at the same dealer and got the same deal. under 30,000.

I was told when I bought my '09 STI by the dealer that the new WRX is faster then the STI in a straight line. Lighter with only 30 less hp. Don't know if that's true or not but I do know the '09 WRX is much faster then the '08.

Up here in Canada the top line WRX is only 4 thousand cheaper than the non tech packaged STI. But the STI has much better potential for upgrades with the drivetrain. Straight cut gears right from the factory, it's all beef! And the WRX looks like a plain hatch to me, nothing special. I can't wait to start modifying this beast.

OIC, so its only 4000 cheaper. thats not a big difference. I would get the wrx in the sedan. the sti only comes with the hatch. But, I like the sedan better than the hatch. If the ms3 came with the sedan, I would of gotten the sedan. I cant wait for the new sti/wrx when they come out with new designs. should be a lot better than the design right now. the hatch is not that flattering.

I've always liked hatches but the STI looks a little too boring I agree. They are much better up close I find. But way more room inside(I used to have an '07 STI, useless back seat) and it's 200lbs lighter with a little more power. Plus I can actually drink coffee in this one without it splashing all over the place! It's way more plush. Overall, I love my '09 more but I can see why people prefer the old design. The hatch looks sweet tho lowered with 275 wide tires

2: 4 cylinders less than a V"8"

3: it need at least 2 times more cubic capacity for a proper v8 rumble

About the red rear fog lens. I live in Europe, and it has nothing to do with "parking at night & narrow streets" It is not found on all cars- so as far as it being "Euro Safety"...thats crap. I've replaced my lens with a clear one....no probs from the leos. 99% of cars in Europe have only 1 reverse light on the right side. Also... we park on the sidewalks over here :P

not much difference in the engine and drivetrain. Only some ECU tweeks because of gasoline octane difference. But the biggest difference in the interior is the seats. These STI's come with RECARO seats where as USDM ones dont

That is common on all European cars it is a maker light, used for safet when they park they can leave that red light on. My guess is because the streets are more narrow than here in America

This is not a real Borla exhaust. This is a system made by someone in Turkey with universal Borla mufflers. Borla will have a real, bolt on, cat-back available for the '08 STI shortly. Please do not be mislead by this video.
