It must be kind of nice to like Bob Dylan. The way his fans talk about him, he sounds really cool. It just find his music horrible. Actually, it's his singing specifically. It's so wretched and repulsive and insufferable.
I'm a huge fan of the Beach Boys. They didn't really say a damn thing profound in their music, but god damn, is it beautiful.
Just went to iTunes and they are giving away "Must Be Santa" for free. I downloaded and listened to that song and sampled the other tracks and they all sound great. One reviewer channeled my thoughts when he wrote, "I'd be happy listening to him sing the dictionary. Check out the album.
I dunno about this one, Penn. In some of your other vids you've had some really nice things to say about Christians that gave me the impression we could all be friends, but if you were to take this "Lets take Christ out of Christmas" thing and run with it, I think it would really upset a lot of goodly people.
I think one reviewer put it nicely, saying when Dylan sings "I'll Be Home for Christmas," he sounds like he's delivering the sentiment as a threat rather than a promise.
I mean, i understand that christianity was a plaguarism of the egyptian religion. And they got their religion from the Sumerians because of trade routes. Its pagan by nature, and it's based on astrology/astronomy.But seriously, who gives a fuck!! IT'S CHRISTMAS!! I have very fond memories of christmas growing, and didn't give a shit about whether god was involved or christ. It's more of a cultural thing than religious, and capitalism depends on it. Some Atheists are just as crazy as christians.
I don't understand the point. I'm not a bible thumper or a god loving freak, but i still think that there are some good stories and morals in the bible and a lot of good family relationships during christmas. Treat it as a fairytale like hansel and gretel. Christmas freaks are no different than Trekkies or fanatic Star wars fans. THey like it a lot and celebrate!! Some even dress up. I mean, doesn't Penn have fond memories of christmas when he was a child? Why take it away from the kids?
Regardless how or why you celebrate Christmas, over all why cant it be just about enjoying family and friends? Stop trying to over think everything everyone.
Whay are atheists such cry babies? They've been saying Merry Christmas for a long, long time. Longer than you've been around. So if you don't like it, don't say it.
I'm an atheist who loves Christmas. I also love the Rat Pack. I'm not sure about Dylan doing an album like this but if you say you liked it I guess it is worth a listen.
i understand what you don't believe in but I do believe in family and friends and this music won't get us together. It is awful. Xmas is a time for family and being together no matter what you believe in. Dylan killed those songs that make us all want to love one another. Xmas has less to do about god then about family and friends these days. You should realize that.
Ancient Europeans celebrated the Winter Solstice, before there was a Christmas celebration birth of the magical middle eastern messiah, so why don't we go back to Winter Solstice?
Gosh darnit, let the kids have Christmas. I mean cmon, man! Why does it have to be so anti-christian? Billions of people around the world clebrate it and many people don't even know what it's about, other than a holiday when the kids get presents and people try to make it home to be with their families. jeez,,,everybody is so serious!
Hey, you stick around as long as Dylan has, people are bound to try to confine you to the constructs of their opinions. But the dude's just a dude. Not everything has to be so official. Not sayin' it's not a BIZARRE choice for ol' Bob... just, chill. I'm sure the masterstroke will fall one day.
I'm kind of torn. I want the holiday aspect of Christmas to stick around and remain as an official holiday. That good sentiment can stay while being stripped of all myth, I think.
Naah. That still has the "mas" which comes from the catholic "mass."
Anyway, it's all about love and family, and it's all about expressing that love by figuring out what those whom you love want and getting it or making it for them.
It's about celebrating the abundance that comes from free trade and specialization and property rights with those you love.
Penn, I am a fan of your thought processes. I have followed many aspects of your career. I am not an atheist, nor I am not a Christian. I don't sell my point of view. Everyone will come around to the Hindu point of view eventually. Jesus is the son of God as well as Penn is the son of God, along with all who post here. An album regardless of the topic stands on it's own merit. Bob is great and so is Penn. The multiverse is infinite. Infinity is really big. Infinity allows God to exist.
i love Bob more than anything, but has Penn basically just become a corporate schill? (not unlike Bob himself these days). To his credit, he's never pretended to be anything otherwise, but what's up with him using this channel as a platform to give us reviews and recommendations for CD collections to buy?
If you don't care for a religious holiday then fine, but don't pretend to be open minded and libertarian while mewing for its' elimination. You can avert your eyes, change the channel, or put your fingers in your ears while singing the second verse of 'Deck the Halls". The holiday is older than us and will no doubt out last us because people can celebrate it if they want, however they want, for as long as they want. Just as if they were libertarians.
penn do you ever stop shilling sony products? every thing you mention just happens to be owned and sold by sony. and thats cool and all but you should change the name of your segments to "sony says" or "penn says: for sony". im starting to doubt you even like dylan or the beatles or the stooges.
Consider that he probably enjoys dozens or hundreds or maybe thousands of things that Sony makes no profit off of- These Crackle shorts are paid for by Sony. He's probably restricted by contract to discuss other properties. Considering that we get the usual material we get, it's really a small price for us, the viewers. You can of course skip the ones with Sony products/properties as a subject, yes?
Culture is a good thing. A winter party with decorations for kids, gifts, and the same songs every year brings people together...with or without Dylan.
It's the belief in an invisible man that motivates people to make policy and persecute nonbelievers that is the problem.
Enjoy the culture without reservation...it's a good thing.
Ive' heard teller did that before they became a pair. He started doing that because the audience gave him more attention and respect when he didnt speak.
Whatever motherfucker! Nobody gives a flying fuck if you are an athiest. Just let the Christians(who are way in the majority) alone. I know, Lets unsubscribe.
Whatever motherfucker! Nobody gives a flying fuck if you are gullible. Just let the atheists(who have rational thoughts) alone. I know, go fuck yourself.
Well well, look someone doesn't know! I'll take it into my own accord, Christmas has nothing to do with Christ, Christ birthday was April 13, The only reason it's on December 25 is because it's aligned with a pagan holiday, There you go stop being a jackass and go fuck yourself :D
"Who gives a rats ass about the dates" What part of Christmas is Christian? It's biblical copyright, I don't mind but stop trying to say Christmas is about Christ, Because it obviously isn't.
lol I definitely would have to disagree with you since Christmas means Christ's mass. In the christian faith, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. So when you say "stop trying to say Christmas is about Christ, Because it obviously isn't. ", you 'obviously' have no idea what you are talking about.
Even a cursory Googling of the history of Christmas would show you that December 25 was a pagan festival dedicated to the rebirth of the sun, long before the Catholic Church co-opted it into Jesus' birthday.
If you really care about keeping pagan/non-Christian elements out of your religion, then you'll want to keep Jesus out of the winter solstice celebration.
Think about it: would Jesus be happy being associated with greed, lust, and gluttony?
Christmas is a pagan holiday. Christians tried to make it into a Christian holiday to get conversions. Are you going to tell me that a bunny hiding eggs has to do with Jesus, too?
So, according to you, since Jesus wasn't actually born on Christmas, he has nothing to do with Christmas.... You do understand how ridiculous that sounds, right? Just because we don't believe in Christ doesn't mean Christmas is not for him. We can still choose to celebrate whatever however we want, but don't try to say that Christ has nothing to do with Christmas. It makes you sound like an imbecile, which I hope you are not.
Correct..... But to say it isn't a celebration of Jesus' birthday is inaccurate as far as the christian faith goes(which is the majority of the U.S. population)
Just because it isn't wasn't his actual birthday doesn't mean that it has nothing to do with him.
For example, MLK Jr's birthday was January 15th.We celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the 3rd Monday of every new year. his year it happened to occur on the 19th.Since it wasn't on the 15th does that mean it has nothing to do with MLK?
I see what your saying in a way but Truth be told if you look at what Christmas was at first before the Catholic Church got a hold of it I didn't have any thing to do with Jesus and ever thing to do with a different God and that's why some Christian don't celebrate it
I get what you mean, but Christmas is for Jesus. Yes, their were many other celebrations for other gods before it.... I get that.... but to say that the celebration of "CHRISTMAS" has nothing to do with Jesus is retarded.
Look, I do not believe in a Jesus, or a god, or a higher being, nor do I not believe in those things. I am simply not sure. What I am sure about is that Christians have made Christmas into what it is nowadays. So, to say that Jesus has nothing to do with it is ridiculous.
its a pegan holiday with santa as a fictional character invented for marketing. It has more to do will selling things and pegan holidays (xmas tree) then with christ. Christ wasnt even born during winter times but during harvest. (read the bible it says there) just that church tried to steal pegan holiday so people wont celebrate it and be pegan.
Omg.... Yes... I agree. Still, you, I, we, can not sit here and say that Jesus/Christ has nothing to do with Christmas.... What is so hard to understand about this? Atheist, Christian, Muslim, it doesn't fucking matter! CHRISTMAS IS FOR CHRISTIANS!!! So when some says "Christ obviously has nothing to do with Christmas" I have no other choice but to laugh at that ignorant statement.
well its a holiday stolen from pegans. So originally christ didnt have anything to do with christmas. Whatever you want to call that holiday, everybody has the right to celebrate it. If not everybody then christians arent the ones who should it should be pegans because thats who invented the holiday. I celebrate christmass (or xmas as i call it) without christ. And there was no christ in it before christians put it there. (just like in god we trust on the money)
It was not stolen from pegans and I would appreciate it if you would refer to every new year celebration as peganism.
Cresemachs was indeed a celebration of Jesus and it was definitely strategically placed during the same times human and animal ritual sacrifices were being performed by other religious factions. So, catholic priests decided it was the best time to celebrate the birth of Christto counteract the death cults that were engulfing that era.
actually new years is pegan as well. But i was referring to ever greens and christmas tree where do you think it came from? it is from pegan holidays and so is the feast. You can watch where christmass came from on history channel or read about it on wikipedia. The date is from pegan holiday not from date that christ was born. In fact christ couldnt be born on that date because he was born during harvest. The name of holiday doesnt matter. I call it xmass& its w/out christ
Why are you having such a hard time understanding what I'm saying?
Christmas is because of Jesus Christ. It would not be called so if other wise.
I'm not debating that there was a first Christmas and that it was the beginning of new years celebration. I'm simply stating that Christmas definitely has something to do with Jesus Christ.
And please stop with the whole not the actual date he was born crap. MLK jr was born Jan 15th yet we celebrated his b-day on the 19th this year.
yea christmass is called christmas because of christ. However the holiday still be there if there would be a christ or not whatever you call it. Everybody can celebrate it however they want too. Name of christmas doesnt matter. Call the day what you will you can celebrate that day without celebrating christ is all im saying
Okay then... We agree. There is no Christmas without Christ. I'm glad you see where I'm coming from.
Either way, enjoy your life. I'd rather folks simply enjoy everyday they have with their loved ones instead of choosing a date in which to celebrate the status quo. But hey, I guess I'm kinda liberal when it comes to that.
yea that would be nice, but its hard with having to work and support your family. Its good to have a day to just leave the rest of your worries and just to gather around and be forgiving loving and caring. It doesnt mean that that day has to have a date, but people couldnt decide when to do it otherwise. A lot of people hate their jobs and everyday events too much to enjoy life everyday.
Ther are official records of Jesus' birth within the Judaea province of the Eastern Empire and of his Execution under the order of the Principal (Western) Emperor of the time. Christ existed, whether or not he was the Messiah is completely debatable. But he did exist.
What you just wrote was flat out dumb and ignorant. Jesus Christ did exist. That is a fact. He may or may not be the son of God(until he proves it to me I can't believe it), but he definitely existed. Jesus Christ is not a made up character. He was an actual human being.
You just made a fool of yourself. Stop making atheists look bad.
Actually, there is REAL contention about Jesus' existence. There are NO contemporaneous accounts of his existence. Everything we have about his existence comes generations after his death. Now, this doesn't mean that he didn't exist, but it still raises some red flags.
I'm willing to accept that a radical rabbi roamed 1st century Judea. That's a statement that isn't out of the ordinary, and as such does not require extraordinary evidence.
Yeah I fill you I'm not to sure about the king James myself it look's like they understand the bible better after studying it for years and then come back and make a new one like the NIV but that's not really the problem I have with it myself but who cares lol, How do you fill about Halloween knowing the roots of some of the Christian celebrations do you think you should be able to celebrate Halloween for what it is now like you do with the others?
Cool I was just asking because I found that a lot of Christians don't know the history of a lot of the stuff they do and they attack Halloween as such a evil thing when the history of Easter is just sick.
I'm not a Christian but my parents are. I was taught at a very young age about hollow's eve(Halloween) so I do think it is ridiculous when some people say that Halloween is evil. Though, I don't know many Christians that ban Halloween. Most of them just want to have fun with their kids and get candy.
I agree with you In fact,I still wonder why the current bible is considered the be all end all. I mean, KingJames is the last one to entitle the actual bible.. He made it what it is as far as the modern NIV version goes... and he did it with blood. The King James Version is now considered the absolute as far as modern Christianity is concerned, yet I question "why would you, as a Christian, except a version of you lords word that was written through slavery and blood?"
Explain to me what part of Christ is in your Christmas? What exactly do you do to celebrate Christ? It literally has nothing to do with Christianity. Jesus wasn't born on December 25th, Christmas has more connection between the winter solstice. The fact that your so blatantly ignorant about your history. Truly shows how stupid you really are.
"The fact that your so blatantly ignorant about your history."
Well sir, the fact that you are so blatantly ignorant to the history of my comments on the video truly shows how ready to bash someone who thinks outside of your small mind set.
I am not Christian but that doesn't mean Christmas has nothing to do with Christ. We celebrated MLK Jr Day on the January 19th this year. He was born on the 15th. Does that mean it has nothing to do with MLK Jr because the days do not align?
Look, Tell me what exactly you do to celebrate the date of Jesus's birthday. Simply put, Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus's birthday, The only reason its on December 25 is because they wanted to convert Pages of Europe by aligning the date with Pagan Holidays like the Winter Solstice and the Roman "Natalis Solis Invict" The point of the matter is, Christmas isn't original neither is the Christian religion, If you can prove to me that there isn't a connection, Be my guest.
Dude, wikipedia shouldn't be your end all be all. Anyways, you still seem to misunderstand the reasoning of my comments. Jesus has everything to do with Christmas. Any simpleton could see the correlation. Christmas = Christ mass. Christ = Jesus. Hello...... There is your answer. If you are still having a hard time understanding technicalities, I have no more words for you.
Just because your 'xmas' has nothing to do with Jesus, doesn't mean it wasn't born in praise of him.
Well, if you want to get technical about it, the name 'Christmas' has Christian undertones, but the imagery, traditions, allegories etc. that are attached to the holiday are a mish-mash of many different belief systems over the years. The concept of using a tree, for instance, was of pagan origins.
Okay, I can agree with that...... Except the name have mere undertones. To say that Christmas is not a celebration of Jesus Christ is pointless. That is wrong.
To Christians, it is exactly that, but the holiday itself along with the traditions surrounding it were going exactly as they are now, long before it was called 'Christmas'. So, how can you say that the holiday itself has anything to do with Jesus? The name is the only thing connection the holiday to the Jesus birth.
If I made up a story about an alien who fell to earth, killed all the blue-eyed children then deficated on a cracker, all I would have to is change the name from 'Christmas' into 'shitewheat', or something, & people would be claiming THAT is what the holiday is TRULY about many years from now.
Are you getting my point yet? To the modern-day Christian, this holiday is about Jesus' birth, but the meanings are interchangeable once you eliminate the banner it's been stuck under.
Look dude. If you don't believe that Jesus was the 'Son of God' that's fine. I don't either. But you can't say that Christmas is not for Jesus. You are simply wrong. Christmas is for CHristians, Hanukkah is for Jews, and Kwanzaa is for blacks. However you celebrate it doesn't matter, but celebrating "Christmas" is the celebration of Jesus. If you don't want to celebrate Christmas then don't, but don't lie.
So here we go again. CHRISTMAS IS FOR JESUS! Why is this so hard for you to compute? If you call it Christmas it is for Jesus. And it is not just modern day Christians, Christmas has been celebrated for hundreds of years.
Understand this so we can end this pointless debate. Christmas is for Christ like MLK day is for MLK. DO you get it? Does that make it easier to swallow? I don't care what you wanna call your celebration, but Christmas celebration is for the birth of Jesus Christ.
You know, for such a moderate Agnostic as you claim to be, you're having a helluva time understanding me, here.
Gift-giving. Tree--trimming, Santa Clause, Elves, Reindeer, Bells, Missletoe, Holly, the list goes on and on . . . NONE of that stuff has a single blessed thing to do with the birth of Christ! Alright? Do you get it yet?!
Christmas is a celebration of Jesus birth these days simply because Christians say it is. That's it. No other connection. Deal with it.
If what you are saying is that Christmas as it stands today is a celebration of Jesus' birth, that's perfectly fine. But when you go around calling people idiotic for saying the simple truth that the holiday was around before Christianity hijaked it, you are the one who looks moronic.
When you say, 'Christmas is for Jesus', it implies that you actually believe the holiday did not exists until Christians 'invented' it. That simply is not true. Call it whatever you wish, it doesn't change shit.
There is no argument. You are disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. You are obviously wrong, so I see no point in furthering this charade. If you don't understand how CHRISTmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, well then, have fun.
It's in the fucking name! Look at the word! Good lord!
I have a feeling you are basing all of your facts from Wikipedia too. Not a smart decision.
who cares which way it is, i say let the christians believe that everyone thinks about it like that, we dont and its about giving presents and being good, not jesus christ the fictional character of a book
Yes, it IS in the name. And ONLY in the name! For fuck sake, my friend, are you a complete idiot? I've already listed the ways in which Christmas relates to jesus' birth, as well as all the ways it does not. You are the one who is disagreeing just to disagree. Give me one credible reason why the holiday is about jesus OTHER than the name.
You can't think of anything. In there lies my very point. You're a twat who must not be very intelligent, otherwise you would understand what we're saying.
'It's in the name!'. Well, no shit, sherlock. Of course it's in the fucking name! And guess what? The name came FUCKING LAST! Everything about the holiday existed before the Christians changed its meaning. Everything! Nothing else about the holiday states anything about christianity except for the fucking name. The name was added later, therefore the ONLY thing in common with christian beliefs is the name. Nothing else! It's a re-named celebration that already existed, you stupid mother fucker!!
So now you've come to name calling. All you have to do is admit defeat, not act like a child.
Here is my last and final question: If you don't believe it has anything to do with Christ, why don't you simply celebrate a different holiday? You can celebrate whatever however you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Take me, I don't believe in Jesus Christ therefore our family doesn't celebrate Christmas, but we do exchange gifts.
I think you're only purpose here is to aggravate people and that's a douche baggy thing to do. I also think you're trying to make sure you get that last word in and that also very douche baggy. In short, you're a douche bag who's arguing semantics simply for the sake of arguing.
"I also think you're trying to make sure you get that last word in and that also very douche baggy." And what would jumping into an argument that has nothing to do with you and calling me douchebag, make you? I think you have it backwards, my friend.
If you exchange gifts your still celebrating Christmas. Not celebrating Christmas would mean not recognizing the day at all even through gift exchange.
Exchanging gifts does not mean I celebrate Christmas. If I was celebrating the birth of Christ, that would be Christmas. Exchanging gifts is not what put the "Christ" in Christmas.
Christ comes from the greek word Christus which means the annointed, or oily one. Other dieties who were named the annointed one were, Krishna, Buddha, Horus, Mithra, Attis, etc. etc. Most were worshipped by three kings that followed the north star. Do some research. Jesus evolved from Horus, which was the son god, or son of god. It's roots are pagan and ancients all the way back to the Sumerians celebrated the birth of their deity. Most of Christianity is a plaguarism of Egyptian Religion
Look up Zeitgeist religion on youtube. There's also works by Jordan Maxwell, David Wilcock, Zecharia Sitchin, Jason Martell etc, etc. Alot of these people are known as alternative historians but all of their books are nonfiction. If your really interested in it i suggest researching it yourself. Hell, you can google similarities of jesus and other religions and find some pervasive facts on this stuff. It all seems to stem from Egypt and from them the Sumerians.
It's kind of funny that you ask for sources for this when it's everywhere on the web, just have to look for it. If the bible cited it's sources i'm sure Egypt would be the main source. Jesus was never actually alive and walked the earth, the only accounting of him was done by a man name Josephus, which has been proven to be a forgery. And the other accounts only mentioned Christus, which again, means annointed one, not jesus.
For myself, I solved this problem pretty simply. I give "winter solstice" gifts, and when I receive presents, I just say thank you, and happy winter solstice! Anyways, Christmas was just a co-opting of Pagan winter solstice celebration by the Church anyways. Hope that helps

That good sentiment can stay while being stripped of all myth, I think.
lvecsey 2 years ago
I'm celebrating the capitalism in Christmas!
I wish it were called "Presentmas."
Naah. That still has the "mas" which comes from the catholic "mass."
Anyway, it's all about love and family, and it's all about expressing that love by figuring out what those whom you love want and getting it or making it for them.
It's about celebrating the abundance that comes from free trade and specialization and property rights with those you love.
Capitalism and Family Day?

Penn, I am a fan of your thought processes. I have followed many aspects of your career. I am not an atheist, nor I am not a Christian. I don't sell my point of view. Everyone will come around to the Hindu point of view eventually. Jesus is the son of God as well as Penn is the son of God, along with all who post here. An album regardless of the topic stands on it's own merit. Bob is great and so is Penn. The multiverse is infinite. Infinity is really big. Infinity allows God to exist.
dingerma 2 years ago
i love Bob more than anything, but has Penn basically just become a corporate schill? (not unlike Bob himself these days). To his credit, he's never pretended to be anything otherwise, but what's up with him using this channel as a platform to give us reviews and recommendations for CD collections to buy?
Ky244621 2 years ago
If you don't care for a religious holiday then fine, but don't pretend to be open minded and libertarian while mewing for its' elimination. You can avert your eyes, change the channel, or put your fingers in your ears while singing the second verse of 'Deck the Halls". The holiday is older than us and will no doubt out last us because people can celebrate it if they want, however they want, for as long as they want. Just as if they were libertarians.

Why take the Christ out of Christmas? No need to re-write history, just because you are an atheist.
coffeefish 2 years ago
Well well, look someone doesn't know! I'll take it into my own accord, Christmas has nothing to do with Christ, Christ birthday was April 13, The only reason it's on December 25 is because it's aligned with a pagan holiday, There you go stop being a jackass and go fuck yourself :D

"Who gives a rats ass about the dates" What part of Christmas is Christian? It's biblical copyright, I don't mind but stop trying to say Christmas is about Christ, Because it obviously isn't.

Take a chill pill.
PS: (Bob Dylan sucks)
coffeefish 2 years ago
lol I definitely would have to disagree with you since Christmas means Christ's mass. In the christian faith, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. So when you say "stop trying to say Christmas is about Christ, Because it obviously isn't. ", you 'obviously' have no idea what you are talking about.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Jesus was born on this day, so let's all bring a tree inside to decorate it and exchange presents that have to be under the tree a couple days.
CrashGames2108 2 years ago
....... Ok, fine. Still, just because we celebrate Christmas in that manner does not mean it has nothing to do with Jesus Christ.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Even a cursory Googling of the history of Christmas would show you that December 25 was a pagan festival dedicated to the rebirth of the sun, long before the Catholic Church co-opted it into Jesus' birthday.
If you really care about keeping pagan/non-Christian elements out of your religion, then you'll want to keep Jesus out of the winter solstice celebration.
Think about it: would Jesus be happy being associated with greed, lust, and gluttony?
JBSauce 2 years ago 2
Christmas is a pagan holiday. Christians tried to make it into a Christian holiday to get conversions. Are you going to tell me that a bunny hiding eggs has to do with Jesus, too?
CrashGames2108 2 years ago
So, according to you, since Jesus wasn't actually born on Christmas, he has nothing to do with Christmas.... You do understand how ridiculous that sounds, right? Just because we don't believe in Christ doesn't mean Christmas is not for him. We can still choose to celebrate whatever however we want, but don't try to say that Christ has nothing to do with Christmas. It makes you sound like an imbecile, which I hope you are not.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Aaaaand yet, wasn't the date and many custome of Christmas snatched by the Church to convert more pagans?
Means many things to many people.
~Kat
Luminasita 2 years ago 2
Correct..... But to say it isn't a celebration of Jesus' birthday is inaccurate as far as the christian faith goes(which is the majority of the U.S. population)
Just because it isn't wasn't his actual birthday doesn't mean that it has nothing to do with him.
For example, MLK Jr's birthday was January 15th.We celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the 3rd Monday of every new year. his year it happened to occur on the 19th.Since it wasn't on the 15th does that mean it has nothing to do with MLK?
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
I see what your saying in a way but Truth be told if you look at what Christmas was at first before the Catholic Church got a hold of it I didn't have any thing to do with Jesus and ever thing to do with a different God and that's why some Christian don't celebrate it
MrMohjong 2 years ago
I get what you mean, but Christmas is for Jesus. Yes, their were many other celebrations for other gods before it.... I get that.... but to say that the celebration of "CHRISTMAS" has nothing to do with Jesus is retarded.
Look, I do not believe in a Jesus, or a god, or a higher being, nor do I not believe in those things. I am simply not sure. What I am sure about is that Christians have made Christmas into what it is nowadays. So, to say that Jesus has nothing to do with it is ridiculous.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
its a pegan holiday with santa as a fictional character invented for marketing. It has more to do will selling things and pegan holidays (xmas tree) then with christ. Christ wasnt even born during winter times but during harvest. (read the bible it says there) just that church tried to steal pegan holiday so people wont celebrate it and be pegan.
princeofexcess 2 years ago
Omg.... Yes...
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
well its a holiday stolen from pegans. (just like in god we trust on the money)
princeofexcess 2 years ago
It was not stolen from pegans and I would appreciate it if you would refer to every new year celebration as peganism.
Cresemachs was indeed a celebration of Jesus and it was definitely strategically placed during the same times human and animal ritual sacrifices were being performed by other religious factions. So, catholic priests decided it was the best time to celebrate the birth of Christto counteract the death cults that were engulfing that era.
So yes, there is no CHRISTmas without CHRIST
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
actually new years is pegan as well. I call it xmass& its w/out christ
princeofexcess 2 years ago
Why are you having such a hard time understanding what I'm saying?
Christmas is because of Jesus Christ. It would not be called so if other wise.
I'm not debating that there was a first Christmas and that it was the beginning of new years celebration. I'm simply stating that Christmas definitely has something to do with Jesus Christ.
And please stop with the whole not the actual date he was born crap. MLK jr was born Jan 15th yet we celebrated his b-day on the 19th this year.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
yea christmass is called christmas because of christ. However the holiday still be there if there would be a christ or not whatever you call it. Everybody can celebrate it however they want too. Name of christmas doesnt matter. Call the day what you will you can celebrate that day without celebrating christ is all im saying
princeofexcess 2 years ago
Okay then... We agree. There is no Christmas without Christ. I'm glad you see where I'm coming from.
Either way, enjoy your life. I'd rather folks simply enjoy everyday they have with their loved ones instead of choosing a date in which to celebrate the status quo. But hey, I guess I'm kinda liberal when it comes to that.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
yea that would be nice, but its hard with having to work and support your family. Its good to have a day to just leave the rest of your worries and just to gather around and be forgiving loving and caring. It doesnt mean that that day has to have a date, but people couldnt decide when to do it otherwise. A lot of people hate their jobs and everyday events too much to enjoy life everyday.

You just made a fool of yourself. Stop making atheists look bad.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago

MrMohjong 2 years ago
I think anyone can celebrate whatever however they want. Halloween is just another social ritual in America.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Cool I was just asking because I found that a lot of Christians don't know the history of a lot of the stuff they do and they attack Halloween as such a evil thing when the history of Easter is just sick.
MrMohjong 2 years ago 2
I'm not a Christian but my parents are. I was taught at a very young age about hollow's eve(Halloween) so I do think it is ridiculous when some people say that Halloween is evil. Though, I don't know many Christians that ban Halloween. Most of them just want to have fun with their kids and get candy.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
I agree with you In fact,I still wonder why the current bible is considered the be all end all. I mean, KingJames is the last one to entitle the actual bible.. He made it what it is as far as the modern NIV version goes... and he did it with blood. The King James Version is now considered the absolute as far as modern Christianity is concerned, yet I question "why would you, as a Christian, except a version of you lords word that was written through slavery and blood?"
Still, I am not an athiest
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
LOLOL you are hilarious. "Christmas has nothing to do with Christ" I wish I was able to be so blatantly ignorant and happy about it at the same time.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Explain to me what part of Christ is in your Christmas? What exactly do you do to celebrate Christ? It literally has nothing to do with Christianity. Jesus wasn't born on December 25th, Christmas has more connection between the winter solstice. The fact that your so blatantly ignorant about your history. Truly shows how stupid you really are.
101194z4life 2 years ago
"The fact that your so blatantly ignorant about your history."
Well sir, the fact that you are so blatantly ignorant to the history of my comments on the video truly shows how ready to bash someone who thinks outside of your small mind set.
I am not Christian but that doesn't mean Christmas has nothing to do with Christ. We celebrated MLK Jr Day on the January 19th this year. He was born on the 15th. Does that mean it has nothing to do with MLK Jr because the days do not align?
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Look, Tell me what exactly you do to celebrate the date of Jesus's birthday. Simply put, Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus's birthday, The only reason its on December 25 is because they wanted to convert Pages of Europe by aligning the date with Pagan Holidays like the Winter Solstice and the Roman "Natalis Solis Invict" The point of the matter is, Christmas isn't original neither is the Christian religion, If you can prove to me that there isn't a connection, Be my guest.
101194z4life 2 years ago
Dude, wikipedia shouldn't be your end all be all. Anyways, you still seem to misunderstand the reasoning of my comments. Jesus has everything to do with Christmas. Any simpleton could see the correlation. Christmas = Christ mass. Christ = Jesus. Hello...... There is your answer. If you are still having a hard time understanding technicalities, I have no more words for you.
Just because your 'xmas' has nothing to do with Jesus, doesn't mean it wasn't born in praise of him.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Well, if you want to get technical about it, the name 'Christmas' has Christian undertones, but the imagery, traditions, allegories etc. that are attached to the holiday are a mish-mash of many different belief systems over the years. The concept of using a tree, for instance, was of pagan origins.
P0mt3 2 years ago
Okay, I can agree with that...... Except the name have mere undertones. To say that Christmas is not a celebration of Jesus Christ is pointless. That is wrong.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
To Christians, it is exactly that, but the holiday itself along with the traditions surrounding it were going exactly as they are now, long before it was called 'Christmas'. So, how can you say that the holiday itself has anything to do with Jesus? The name is the only thing connection the holiday to the Jesus birth.
P0mt3 2 years ago
If I made up a story about an alien who fell to earth, killed all the blue-eyed children then deficated on a cracker, all I would have to is change the name from 'Christmas' into 'shitewheat', or something, & people would be claiming THAT is what the holiday is TRULY about many years from now.
Are you getting my point yet? To the modern-day Christian, this holiday is about Jesus' birth, but the meanings are interchangeable once you eliminate the banner it's been stuck under.
P0mt3 2 years ago
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
So here we go again. CHRISTMAS IS FOR JESUS! Why is this so hard for you to compute? If you call it Christmas it is for Jesus. And it is not just modern day Christians, Christmas has been celebrated for hundreds of years.
Understand this so we can end this pointless debate. Christmas is for Christ like MLK day is for MLK. DO you get it? Does that make it easier to swallow? I don't care what you wanna call your celebration, but Christmas celebration is for the birth of Jesus Christ.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
You know, for such a moderate Agnostic as you claim to be, you're having a helluva time understanding me, here.
Gift-giving. Tree--trimming, Santa Clause, Elves, Reindeer, Bells, Missletoe, Holly, the list goes on and on . . . NONE of that stuff has a single blessed thing to do with the birth of Christ! Alright? Do you get it yet?!
Christmas is a celebration of Jesus birth these days simply because Christians say it is. That's it. No other connection. Deal with it.
P0mt3 2 years ago
If what you are saying is that Christmas as it stands today is a celebration of Jesus' birth, that's perfectly fine. But when you go around calling people idiotic for saying the simple truth that the holiday was around before Christianity hijaked it, you are the one who looks moronic.
When you say, 'Christmas is for Jesus', it implies that you actually believe the holiday did not exists until Christians 'invented' it. That simply is not true. Call it whatever you wish, it doesn't change shit.
P0mt3 2 years ago
I'm done with you. absolutely hilarious.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Wow, you're out of arguments already? That was fast . . .
P0mt3 2 years ago
There is no argument. You are disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing. You are obviously wrong, so I see no point in furthering this charade. If you don't understand how CHRISTmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, well then, have fun.
It's in the fucking name! Look at the word! Good lord!
I have a feeling you are basing all of your facts from Wikipedia too. Not a smart decision.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
who cares which way it is, i say let the christians believe that everyone thinks about it like that, we dont and its about giving presents and being good, not jesus christ the fictional character of a book
JohnnyWeedSeed420 2 years ago
Yes, it IS in the name. And ONLY in the name! For fuck sake, my friend, are you a complete idiot? I've already listed the ways in which Christmas relates to jesus' birth, as well as all the ways it does not. You are the one who is disagreeing just to disagree. Give me one credible reason why the holiday is about jesus OTHER than the name.
You can't think of anything. In there lies my very point. You're a twat who must not be very intelligent, otherwise you would understand what we're saying.
P0mt3 2 years ago
'It's in the name!'. Well, no shit, sherlock. Of course it's in the fucking name! And guess what? The name came FUCKING LAST! Everything about the holiday existed before the Christians changed its meaning. Everything! Nothing else about the holiday states anything about christianity except for the fucking name. The name was added later, therefore the ONLY thing in common with christian beliefs is the name. Nothing else! It's a re-named celebration that already existed, you stupid mother fucker!!
P0mt3 2 years ago
So now you've come to name calling. All you have to do is admit defeat, not act like a child.
Here is my last and final question: If you don't believe it has anything to do with Christ, why don't you simply celebrate a different holiday? You can celebrate whatever however you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Take me, I don't believe in Jesus Christ therefore our family doesn't celebrate Christmas, but we do exchange gifts.
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Mauhadeeb28,
I think you're only purpose here is to aggravate people and that's a douche baggy thing to do. I also think you're trying to make sure you get that last word in and that also very douche baggy. In short, you're a douche bag who's arguing semantics simply for the sake of arguing.

CluppHead 2 years ago
What are your sources for this information?
Mauhadeeb28 2 years ago
Look up Zeitgeist religion on youtube. There's also works by Jordan Maxwell, David Wilcock, Zecharia Sitchin, Jason Martell etc, etc. Alot of these people are known as alternative historians but all of their books are nonfiction. If your really interested in it i suggest researching it yourself. Hell, you can google similarities of jesus and other religions and find some pervasive facts on this stuff. It all seems to stem from Egypt and from them the Sumerians.
CluppHead 2 years ago
It's kind of funny that you ask for sources for this when it's everywhere on the web, just have to look for it. If the bible cited it's sources i'm sure Egypt would be the main source. Jesus was never actually alive and walked the earth, the only accounting of him was done by a man name Josephus, which has been proven to be a forgery. And the other accounts only mentioned Christus, which again, means annointed one, not jesus.
