Hard landing SFO, funny flight attendant comment

Years ago we had a rough landing in driving rain on SWA. Just before we touched the runway the pilot came on the PA and said "whoa doggy!". We hit hard and some overhead bins opened. The flight attendant later said "please remain seated while the pilot brings what's left of the airplane to the gate".

That wasn't too bad, I came into Baltimore on Southwest once in heavy crosswinds, took forever for them to get the plane on the ground, and and the pilot was coming in in a crab (nose pointing off center line to counteract crosswinds, almost 30 degrees in our case). When the pilot got the plane down it was a pretty good slam.

People love Southwest because they are goofballs and they get paid GREAT money to be. The passengers like it especially the "low fare" "low class" passengers that the airline tends to attract.

The pilot who made that landing is likely one of the highest paid pilots in the industry. Infact Southwest pilot wages tend to dwarf most other pilot wages. You got 747 captains at legacy carriers trying to bail out to go work at Southwest.

Hard landing? This was about as hard as a fly landing on a lily pad, compared to landings I've had, both commercial and military. Try riding in the back of a C-130 doing a tactical landing in a sandstorm...it's the most fun you'll never want to have again! lol

Also the Electronic Devices rule only applies to devices which transmit. It won't screw up flight instruments but it COULD interfere with ground communication with the Tower.
