  • do you still have this?

  • props on the massive screen, but man that stuff looks like paper mache. if you had only used sheetmetal...

  • This was my early modding days, we all improve! lol

  • First time seeing someone make a handheld out of a handheld.

  • do you play nearly as much as you mod bacteria? ;;D

  • Nope!

  • wow

  • No reason why it wouldn't have - although dismantled the system a year ago!

  • great for the visually impaired!

  • i've seen your other work and i know you could've done better with the design. although it is a good idea it does however look like a dinosaur egg

  • I can certainly do miles better now, and do do; however modding is a learning curve; your skills evolve.

  • Honestly, this mod seems fairly useless. You want a bigger screen? Use GB Player on the gamecube, or buy a DS. It's not like what you made is really portable, like, at all. It also looks like you seriously hurt the triggers, they were great on the GBA, but they were just two tiny buttons on here .-.

  • I broke this unit up ages ago for parts anyway, it was an early system before I got good at this hobby.

On my Alpha Omega system, you may have noticed i'm using a GameBoy Player in the project...

  • @DisasterPiece0302 GBA on DS is garbage. Screen resolutions don't match and it looks too small

  • @fonarte Except it's not. It's way brighter on the DS, and they letterboxed it, so the resolution is fine. Only issue is on the DS lite there's a tendancy for some games to ghost, even then, that's not a real issue.

  • i dont understand the sense of this one.. can u explain it to me ? i dont find an advantage to the original gba ?

  • Sure, the point was to use a screen that was far larger than the stock one. I find the GBA screen rather small...

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA hehe , but if u think the gba screen is small, try the n-gage screen :D ....

  • oh cool :D

  • have you played something called pokemon xd gail of drakness? if you have to you need to of the games for gba and wii so you can trade some pokemon you cant evolve?

  • nice men you are a cientific boy yeahh congrats

  • somebody can explain me what this does/ sorry is because it kind of hard to my to understand brithish english

  • ...or write it! ;) lol

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA i know ,the problem is because my original language is spanish but i know english pretty much, lol

  • i mean the mario one

  • whats the name of the game he has?i used to have it but i lost it and im planning to buy it online but i forgot the name.

  • Alleyway

  • @walllable Game & watch gallery

  • how did you obtain that rippled effect?

  • Small brush

  • woooaahhhh

  • Wow! Can you posta tut on how to make one of these! Pretty please!!!

  • rather than having the game boy advance as an external part that you have to plug in, couldn't you just have the guts (matherboard and transverter) built right in with the screen and stuff and plug in the cartridges into the new system without running it through the game boy, and slimming down the new system without subtracting screen size or just reshape it to make it a little more comfortable to hold?

  • Not sure if this is real. The Gameboy Advance load screen didnt look right. and the buttons he's pushing are different. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?

  • It was an entirely real system, what a silly comment to post after looking at the video!

  • @koola363 The PAL and NTSC Gameboy Advances have different start screens. :)

  • thats incredible dude, absolutely brilliant

  • Can you mod a psp????

  • Not half bad. Better than whatever I could've come up with. Sure, there could be improvements but hey ;) it works!

  • nice mod

  • how much would you sell it for

  • It is not a game boy color card it is a classical game boy card but the game boy advance color it !

  • only problem cause the shoulder buttons is small

  • I have to say, that's pretty awesome. I bet it also feels better for us people with larger hands.

  • That is so retarded that it's genius. Lol

  • COOL! did u figure this out by yourself? If not where? and is there a tut???

  • Researched on the net for the RGB pinout, already had a Transverter card.

  • thtas so gay man how bout you make a nintendo 64 portable that would be awsome

  • Why don't you look on my other videos and you will see i'm mostly done on making an N64 portable. A very nice one too. Kinda makes your comment "gay", yes?

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA damn my comment is gay lmao

  • @MODDEDbyBACTERIA I really like this one but do you think you might redo this one? Simply to make it better? And rather than having to attatch the GBA you could just completely redo it.

And would you mind explaiing the yellow button?

  • Yellow button was there in case any of the plug'n'plays needed a third button, the buttons came from a CapCom one after all.

No, not remaking it, making better things now! lol

  • seems like a waste of time. the screens no much bigger for all the effort that went into this.

  • the sounds effects that the gameboy color game made at the end sounded like the beginning to that beethoven song

  • what do u actually achieve by duing that?

  • Larger screen. GBA screen is small. That was the purpose.

  • i want to make that console if u could send me a ptf or some thing to gide me. this is coool

  • This was one of my earlier projects, I don't have a worklog for it anymore; anyway, I would make it considerably better now.

My next major project will be an integrated proper multi-system, and will include with a variety of built-in consoles some plug'n'plays as some of them are very good.

  • Flinstones's GBA

you could integrate all in a aluminum or plexiglass home made case

  • hey thats sweet how you make it i wanna make on please

  • Good mod but that screen is a little bit ugly...

    Thanks for de video.

  • Yes, it looks bad compared to my current systems, I am happy to agree to that; crude in fact in comparison. It was innovative though in what it did. Portablizing is a complex hobby, skills develop dramatically with experience. Compare this project to my current one...

  • seems kinda pointless to me, the portable consoles are suposed to be small...... he took that away, made it have a bigger screen and made it black. i think this was completely pointless

  • In my opinion, he made it easier on the eyes and hands of the user, I used to get carpal tunnel from playing that little GBA.. But I digress, It is rather ungainly...

  • "Plug in the cartridge"

  • hard core.

  • You're really good at that O_o

  • Wow. Amazing!

    J.D

  • how did u make it i want 1 badly!!!!!!!!!!

  • u weren't playing a gameboy colour game. it was in colour because the gba made it in colour. u can make it B&W again by pressing B and left on the d-pad when it gos *DING*.

  • cool !

  • The third button was for when I got the two Sega Radica units installed (MegaDrive); third button needed then.

  • RockmanNeka2 - The L and R buttons are the red buttons. They are capped tact switches.

The GBA stays on fine, doesn't slip off; however I will re-house the GBA into its own case in the next months. Have a look on the BenHeck com website in the Forum and on the PlayStation 1 forum; I am Bacteria (couldn't use that name on YouTube as already taken) and look at pages 12 onwards on my thread. You will see the look of my vacuum case there - will standardize with this case now!

  • hey whats the third yellow button for?

  • well, i'm LOVING the idea, but there's just only two questions: where are the L and R buttons, and shouldn't you build like a grip on the back so that the modded GBA wouldn't "break" off?

  • nice dude! now lets see if you can add the PS3 or Xbox 360 to this console...

  • Game & Watch Gallery Advance is the GBA game.

  • what the first game called please tell me

  • You totally rule, that's about it.

  • VeggieXD - Great - visit my website: modded-by-bacteria . com . My vacuum forming project is coming on nicely, will post a new portable in next weeks - it will be georgeous!

  • Freaking awesome work!

I wanna learnt how to make this kinda stuff :P

  • Awesome work man. :)

  • Reason is that the two MegaDrive plug'n'plays have three buttons (not done the MegaDrive plug'n'plays yet) and the CapCom one has three buttons. It made sense therefore to have three buttons on my system.

  • thats cool looks like alot of work. but why is there 3 buttons instead of 2?

  • Amazing! you can tell you have put so much effort into all this and it looks fantastic. The paint job is great to, loving the black. I I thought the system was great before but now with the addition of GBA/GBC its even greater good job 5/5

  • os kool i want one

  • I like the paint effect, very nice.

  • My website lost all its data for a few hours, rebuilt the lost info from backups, all back on line again completely and fully backed up. modded-by-bacteria . com

Iksar1112 - Very kind of you, thanks!

  • NICE MAN NICE

  • Tick54 - Yes, it has left and right shoulder buttons. They are the red tact switches on the top of the system. My fingers rest by them when holding the system.

  • Portable? Yes? Mini? Hell no.

  • Wait, does the Plug n' Play Portable you made have L and R buttons? Those might come in handy for certain GBA games.

  • nice job, I like how all of your systems are upgreadable platforms with incredible addons. keep up the nice job ;)

  • awesome work man, I wish I can do things like that, I'm a game design student and I want to make a DS game for my 3rd year, but I'm planning to combine the ds motion PAK, the rumble and the extra ram to l=boost the nds performance, I'm trying to apply physics and if possible 3d, but I don't do programing, so creating the engine will be tricky, but watching your video inspired me to not give up, great work man

  • The paint job looks far better in person than via camera shots, I can assure you! Yes, system feels nice and it is easy to press all the buttons (including the shoulder buttons).

  • I like how this is coming out and the direction you're taking this. Even though I don't care much for the way the paint job looks, I'm sure it feels great.

  • Good! I thought I would elaborate more in this video than in the last!

Adding extra paint to increase the texture pattern as well as having a bigger d-pad makes the look quite special. Interesting, the extra paint on the case makes quite a positive difference!

I quite like the case colour as black; had thought about making it a pastel colour but decided against it - pleased I did.

Nice system, I like it, and it plays inserted carts reliably too.

The GBA has many good quality games.

  • I'll be honest. I didn't like the paint job much at first, but it's kinda grown on me. And now that it plays GBA/GBC games, the whole system has grown on me that much more.
