It was the over lending of money that was a major factor in the housing bubble collapse. Lenders were forced to lend "fairly" which gave money to people who did not have a reputation of paying, hence poor credit. You reap what you sow - "Fairness" in lending is code for giving to "poor" people and "minorities." That is because he and they feel everyone has a right to housing. Nice housing, not just apartment or condo or whatever. And for the record, I can't claim to be republican anymore.

I agree with some of that but both major parties are responsible (over lending and lack of regulation). There is showing of predatory lending also. Suck all the money from the borrower until they have to forclose then do the same again. I'm an independent that is currently registered as a Democrat. Yeah. I never left the republican party. Nor did my grandpa ever leave the democratic party. Both parties left us years ago. I really liked Fred Thompson for Pres. As with sports in this country, politics are pay to play. If you would have listened to conservatives when McCain got the nod, you would have heard heartburn and upset stomach. This country needs a fresh, independent party in the worst way. I don't feel Biden or Obama are it, as McCain, Palin fall short too.

Obama is just adjusting the tax bracket rates, and not even that much. Reaganomics have failed, and we need to move on. Our current regulations heavily favor people that already have money, and are stacked against those without capital.

In the coming credit crunch, this is going to be even worse. Anyway, Obama's slight tax adjustment isn't any more socialist than McCain's economic plans. It's just spin.

I guess the problem I have is excepting money from someone else. Also, I don't think I should be taxed more to benefit someone else. I feel that the adjustment that will be made will further aggravate an already failed/abused public aid system. We need to be able to educate and motivate the people who are already receiving government assistance.  Not give them more or make it easier for them. If we can work, we need to work. Not be satisfied with a "free" ride.
