  • This is terrifying yet intriguing.

  • incredible movie. A must see!

  • Remember when you used to torture ants as a kid?

  • I saw this movie in the theatre when I was a kid. To make it even stranger it was a double feature playing along with Chariots of the Gods!

  • This is such a trippy movie

  • im baked lol

  • songs??

  • @whothehelliskyle2

research Alain Goraguer , he composed the music.

  • if the female draags weren't bald and blue...i'd of been like "wtf" their boobs are showing..

but I got a thing for alien bald females so XD

  • One of my favourite films/cartoons of all time

  • I saw this movie alone at the Robert E.Lee theater at the New Orleans lakefront in 1973 when it first came out.Loved it then and now.

  • I can not even express how both creeped out and depressed I am over this.

  • Draags and Taelons look similar. Could Taelons be based on Draags?

  • Thank you for posting this - I really enjoyed this animation that I should have discovered a long time ago!

  • What...the......(Insert word here).

  • does this remind you of gantz anyone?

  • @blazingotaku last chapters ? xD

  • saw this on usa networks night flight back in 1983 when i was a kid. it bugged me out how humanoids were pets. pink floyd should have been in the sound track.

  • It's kind of funny that throughout the movie, Teeva is the only really sympathetic Draag we meet.

  • I have to say...this movie didn't weird me out, it inspired me!

  • was watching this shit with my homeboy yesterday.. tripped out HARD

  • I love the music that starts at 3:00

  • @ 4:50, it's Big Pun's sample.

  • Hal Smith is the voice of the father, anyone knows who voice actor Hal Smith is? Gyro and Glumgold on Ducktales and many more toons

  • 5:30 - 5:35 is a sample 4 a song by either J Dilla or Madlib

  • I like 4:15 - 4:44....The Machine buids and builds in intensity and then all of a sudden-Off....its a kind of emotional drop like in "CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY" when the creepy boat ride abruptly ends. Fantastic Planet rules.

  • All I can say about the Draag homeplanet is...

...a planet that has an animal with a beak shaped like a cage in which it shakes birds to death, not for food but for *laughs* is probably best avoided.

  • What I love about this video is that when it starts it really feels like you've suddenly landed on an alien planet.

  • The only design error is that those aliens have no eyebrows making it difficult to determin expression.

  • @TheCharacterActor Personally, I think the lack of eyebrows adds to their eerie and cruel nature.

  • @TheCharacterActor I think that's the point. It makes it hard to identify with them, adding to the alien feeling.

  • this makes me feel evil for having dogs

  • @msinuyasha

    Agreed.

  • @msinuyasha only if you mistreat it..if youre good to a dog, he will do everything he can to be with you

  • Awesome! Thank you for uploading

  • Oh, I remember this. Thank you!

  • 5:00 promoe or looptrop music !!

  • @logan13javi

or big bun - boomerang :)

  • Is this to teach us, how cruel humans are with animals? (in this case, the human is the animal)

  • holy shit i saw parts of this when i was like 5 0r 6 ive been wondering the name and its just like fuckin wow

  • 5:56 he's having a seizure

  • oh dear

  • Just found out this film existed, i stumbled upon the broadcast after sitting on my remote & switching station. the best part for me was the music....good story & nicely animated too

  • Question if these lifeforms had the ability to form collars out of thin air, what need would they have of such objects like the headset used to educate the girl? Could this collar producing Machine not simply transfer the information without a device?

  • @SCORNDOGGMELACH your speaking of two different thing: 1. matter integration and learned - aquired knowledge. your assumption is similar to "we can produce airplanes so shouldnt we be able to fly by our own will without an aircraft.."

  • Brilliant movie, i loved it since i was 11 back in 92 when i rented it on video and it blew me away as i even bought a copy of it on video as a teen.

Anyone thinks this is the Avatar of the 70s? in fact this is one of Cameron's favorite animated movies and he borrowed some parts of this for his new movie.

  • this might just be the creepiest thing ever ever seen

  • the first time i watched this i felt like i watched it before, and i was like 11

  • make sure you watch all the episodes its so trippy

  • this is brilliant! i can't wait to watch the other parts; but i have to go to bed now.

  • @ 4:45 Alain Goraguer track sampled by KRS-One, Big Pun, Mikah Nine, Quasimoto and J-Dilla

  • @brandone1981

big pun sampled this in "boomerang"

  • @brandone1981 some of those artist you named didnt "sample" this. the producer sampled it.

  • @brandone1981 cool

  • ANAKIN

  • I saw this a long time ago. This movie always makes me feel very strange and it is disturbing, yet intriguing at the same time. A very thought provoking film to say the least. Ty very much for taking the time and effort to upload and share.

  • When i first saw this i was freaked out of my mind!

  • the french are so sombre in their media. this film is terribly creepy

  • it so reminds me of TOOL

  • This fucking film never fails to creep me out.

  • @wvClifton specially not on acid man. i'm lost

  • The band Failure made an album with songs that have the same atmosphere as this movie. Thanks to them, l found this movie!

  • I found out about this movie because some person put up a scene from this movie, it was something that madlib sampled. ever since then i have been in love with this movie and science fiction.

  • their eyes are red...

  • The book this movie is loosely based on is good too, I think anyone who likes this movie should check out the book too, it's recently been translated from French into English.

  • Those creatures looks like the creatures that H.P Lovecraft describes in "Cthulhu Mythos".

  • it's freakin scary... omg.. those damn aliens real scary....

  • I am 43 now,and it still scared me ;-) really amazing movie from 1973 !!!!!!

  • "Perhaps the Om's may surprise us someday"?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.

  • I watched this after watching Requiem for a Dream, and it all makes sense.....

  • This was creepy and weird

  • is it just me or is the soundtrack kick ass

  • @benlorenc nope it is

  • @benlorenc it's not just you. It is kickass.

  • This movie from start to finish is amazing, including the music. Dig it.

  • This movie shows us deep humanism.

  • So cruel.

  • gah F this english biz. where is the original french version?

  • CREEPY

  • It presents the cruelty to animals perfectly.

  • @Photonzos No it does not. Plus animal cruelty is not cruel at all. They are fucking animals!

  • @Marsden12001 You're the only fucking animl here.

  • @Photonzos Sounds more like a racism parable to me. That was a huge issue back in 1973, so that's the more likely subject.

  • beautifuly odd

    <3 loove it

  • One of my favorite movies! Thanks for sharing this brilliant and highly underrated masterpiece. If anybody remembers the USA network's show "nightflight", back in the mid to late 80's, it was aired on that show. This is very much like real life, only the highly intelligent ones are more likely to be the repressed "oms" and vice-versa.

  • lovi t!!!!!!

  • The style reminds me of those cartoon segments in Monty Python.

  • tera is latin for earth too i think

  • @Amraself yes it is.

  • HOMME (Om) is French for man.

Terre (TE-r) is French for Earth or dirt.

    I know, I'm Canadian.

  • AVATAR!!!

  • Wonderfull Movie !!!! I see that first this Week and realy love it!

  • Come on Feet!!

  • LOL at the ironic speech.

    'It doesn't move.'

'What a shame, we can't play with it anymore'.

It's an odd idea to think that we treat smaller things as pets when one day something else larger may one day use US as pets. Who knows if it will stop there/ Perhaps that giant race will be kept as pets by an even larger race, and so on...

  • groundbreaking

  • First time I've watched it.Just got in to my personal top 10.

  • i saw this when i was about 10 and i literally had nightmares for years afterwards

  • @ytrewqasfd Yeah. I saw this at an art movie theater when I was six, and it had a profound effect on my psyche. Freaked me right out for years. However, I now think it's fantastic. There should be more animation like this, in the style of Metal Huerlant..

  • great film.

    so psycodelic!!!

    I love it.

    thanks for uploading

  • this film is so extraordinary

    so psychadelic!

  • the music sounds like pink floyd but more psychedelic and odder

(sorry my english isn't very good)

  • fyi trivia: voice of main character is barry bostwick (brad-rocky horror).

  • @babylemonade00 Pink Floyd would probably not fit in at all

  • I am speechless. I was searching for surrealistic horrors and found this, this is so freaking psychedelic, I just love it. It does make sense and makes me wonder what if humans wouldnt be in this possition they are now. fantastic movie!

  • man this is some freaky shit but interesting

  • geeez that was hard to find!!! iknew id seen pictures of it in a book i have about animation!! then i had to find the correct title (theres 3 savage planet, fantastic planet ---the 3rd in french)

  • brings back childhood memories. thanks for posting this!!!

  • imagine if this were made into a live action film??

  • apparently it is going to be.

  • I love this movie!

  • thanks for puting this up. superb film
