  • *Flavors OF Entanglement. -_-

  • this song almost sounds like she's speaking to a therapist who is playing the role of an important man in her life, and she's saying everything from a hindsight perspective in a safe space. Jagged Little Pill has always been my favorite (Flavors on Entanglement is also cool), but i need to go pick this one up now. like, right now.

  • I know he's blood but you can still turn him away you don't owe him anything.

  • This song is just orgasmic, love the chorus...can't believe it wasn't a hit and only has 77k views on Youtube!

  • The person she is singing about made 4 accounts and decided to be a hater -.-

  • Alanis needs to put out another album!!!! Love her SO much!!!

  • i think its about her twin brother... he is in the music world but not known.. so shes in the front row.. supporting him... " u yell raise the roof, rasie the roof i yell back" (who dose that in a theater?) and him lashing at her for not supporting him enough... jeckal and hide ass?

  • best song........... buena cancion .....

  • i'M IN THE FRONT ROW

  • tripped on acid and listened to this, fukin great.

  • "and i laughed until my lungs hurt

i love how you much my chops

you don't always feel seen sometimes

    you feel erasable unfortunately

i cannot reciprocate in my current state

i think we should be careful of how much time we spend together."

    :D Love this song.

  • I hate how most of her best songs don't even have music videos. :(

  • favourite alanis cd, jusy pipping feast on scraps...LOVE this song

  • FRONT ROW, in my opinion has some of the most perceptive lyrics she has ever written, this song just hits the nail on the head for me, "Hey I'm not mad at you guardian, I'm mad at myself for spending so much time with you and your Jekyll and Hydeness. I'm glad I figuratively slapped you on the wrist, you laughed a wicked laugh and said, 'come here, let me clip your wings.'"

  • Best CD ever produced

  • "raise the roof he yelled "yeah raise the roof!" I yelled back.

    I love this line.

  • @missclownfish I love it too

  • I played this cd more than any of them. I still have it.It's my favourite album and I have all of them!! Love Alanis...:D Argh going to get my cd's out. This is my favourite song!!

I loved her when I was 14 and growing up...she was and is my favourite female artist.

  • the second chorus gets me everytime...gives me goose bumps

  • @odeth68 same!

  • as though you were kissed by a GAWD

i must've listened to that line 1000 times in a row when I was 12

  • Her best album.

  • I heard this song was about Kevin Smith. Ex: He smokes, he lives in new jersey. Also she's watching a movie. This song came out in 1999 about the same time she was in dogma.

  • deffo one of her best hits!!

  • One of her best tracks. Love it !!!

  • This is favorites. The metaphor uniquely captures our relationships with both partners and family, when we are often trapped watching the negative characteristics of our loved ones but unable to affect them. I LOVE how emotive she is here and how she effortlessly streams her stream-of-consciousness rant into sing-song. It's damn fun to sing.

One of my favorite moments, how scornfully she sings, "I'm mad at myself for spending so much *time* with you and your Jekyll and Hyde-ness."

  • It's schizophrenical lyrics, but..... so true and suitable to some relationships!

  • Ryan Reynolds maybe????????? :-)

  • @doliasss not at all. This was before Ryan and her.

  • @jdowding1 but she's obviously talking about an actor, who knows!

  • @doliasss not likely, this is circa 1998, long before Ryan

  • This is the most unappreciated album ever and one of the best songs from it!!

  • "do you goto the dungeon, to find out how to make peace with your days in the dungeon?"

  • I like this song.

All the cd is very good

  • I love this song, who is she talking about?

I got the Album back in 98, listened to this song and fell in love with it. anyone know the meaning?

  • i know cuz i did the same as u.

  • @crazy7house Just a guess but I think she's talking about Glen Ballard.

But like I said just a hunch...

  • @hollywoodgogo I heard it was Leonardo Dicapprio, no idea. It could be Glen Ballard.

  • I love this album. I think it's her best.

  • I love this song is amazin!!! thanks for posting this great song!

  • I always felt this had one of the best chorus sections of any of her songs.

I think Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie was a better album than Jagged Little Pill, though I really liked both... this felt so much more raw and unfiltered.

  • great...Thanks for posting!

  • great song!!!!!!!!

  • arriba k-paz de la sierra! AJÚA!!!! Y ARRIBA EL NORTE!!!

  • from Supposed, it loses just to Thank U

  • Whenever I'm in the front row at the movie theater I like to play this song on my ipod before the movie! Alanis, you rock!

  • alanis morissette :) come here and let me clip your wings

  • this is my favorite song that she has ever done. At that time, so real in my life. ok stop, I don't want to sound soooo corny.

  • i'm in the front row - the front row - with popcorn

  • love her!

  • I LOVE ALL THE SONGS FROM THIS CD...

  • @bassgeisha

    So do I ! Excellent !

  • Esa canción debió pertenecer al jagged little pill.

  • i memorized this and The Couch. Makes me feel high!

  • Hmm Alanis Morissette wasnt famous at all... I loved her Album Jagged little pil.... then when hand in my pocket came out... here, they started to play You oughta know in the states... and then we all know the rest she had 5 huge hits... All of them which I predicted :)

  • actually she had 7 huge hits. you left out uninvited(which she won a grammy for) and Thank U

  • No I'm talking about before she became famous in the States. Jagged Lil Pill. She already had 3 singles here in Canada.

  • Oh im so sorry I didnt know you were from canada!

  • Comment removed

  • alanis rocks my balls! :D

  • How I love the bold, raging Alanis :).

  • I'm so happy I found this wonderful ass song!

Thank you AJmusicalgirl, your a God send!

This song brings back so many good memories!

  • is the Alanis Best Album ever!!! SFIJ is very perfect the sounds... the lyrics... her voice is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think I know who this song is written for/about! Does anyone else have any "speculations"??

NO NOT UNCLE JOEY from FULL HOUSE!

  • I think "Hands Clean" and "You oughta know" was about perverse uncle Joey. "Front Row" was from her former drummer.

  • I think it's about Kevin Smith! I would almost swear it!

She gets to watch him in the movies...he is from New Jersey, and smokes like a smoke stack! It just makes TOO much sense that it is him!

  • oh snap! I never thought about that... nice job!

  • When 1st hearing it, I thought she was using "close up" as a verb: "I get to see you close up" like a clam. Pure brilliance, "Hey, I'm not mad at you, guardian. I'm mad at myself for spending so much time with you and your Jeckyl & Hydeness"

  • very cool =D

  • Wouldn't it be totally cool to just watch a specific band and every girl goes ieeeeeeeee and you just have this major bag of popcorn and someone is singing a sensitive song and you go crunch crunch and just thinking: geez great popcorn, good song too. If only all these people would just go away. And you ask the leadsinger: Do you want some popcorn too?

  • THIS SONG ROCKS!

  • the first album i heard of Alanis's and its still my favourite :]

  • first album? if you are referring to Jagged Little Pill that is not her first album...try Alanis, then Now Is The Time, Pill is her third cd and also you must not really understand Alanis..her real fans do

  • nope you never heard me correctly, i knew that, bt if you haddnt just rushed in and answered without thinking about what you were talking about you'd know that i said that its the first album i HEARD by her, i didnt say that it was her first album she made..

  • Most of us aren't Canadians, therefore the first album we heard from her was her first international album Jagged Little Pill. Besides, if Alanis wanted us to know her music she would re-release them, such as the song too hot which has been performed, I haven't heard of it and she seems to deem them irrelevant.

  • definitivamente amo este album!!!

  • I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG

  • I remember this song back when I was young...and I saw her live. :D

    I love her.

  • For those wondering what the indecipherable words spoken "behind" each chorus are...

  • 1st chorus: I'm too tired to recount unpleasantries one by one one minute I want to banish you the next I want to be on a deserted island with you along with my three favorite CDs ambivalent yet in your bed we've yet to acknowledge what really happened. 2nd chorus: I laughed until my lungs hurt I love how you bust my chops you don't always feel seen sometimes you feel erasable unfortunately I cannot reciprocate in my current state I think we should be careful of how much time we spend together.

  • 3rd chorus: You never meant to be ungrateful nor held up to be whipped or wept for certainly not analysed prodded at more ways than one apparently you've been misrepresented dealing with the concept of arrows being slung towards your outrageous fortune. 4th chorus: Oh the things that I've done for you many a stitch a friend a man's been left for you oh the books I've read for you the tongues I've bitten for you many a new city for you many a risk taken for you (not a single regret).

  • IM THANX

  • thanx love ya

  • "i'd like you to be schooled and in awe, as thought you were kissed by (((GOD))) full on the lips"

  • Love the song, love the album, love Alanis. This was one of the few albums that I could just throw in the CD and let it play start to finish. Excellent music.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH

  • Love this song.

Though I feel it doesn't fit as the first song on SFIJ. It should've been track 10, or something.

  • doesn't matter anyway just

hear it babe. hey i'm not mad at your guardian i mad at myelf for spending so much time with you and your jeckelhyness

  • Couldn't have said it any better, i guess.

That really is the line that sticks out as the easiest to relate to. At least in my mind.

Long live people with jeckel'n'hydeness, indeed. Can't live with 'm, can't live without 'm :P

  • mi piace molto questa canzone d' alanis....

  • hasta la vista mar que da

  • the first track of SFIJ (great album!!!), I still remember the first time I listened to it

    love you alanis

  • Same here. :)

  • AWESOME VOICE!!
