Same here! I got a PRIVATE video, if you are NOT squeemish, I could send you the link for it. It is what happens when someone got shot with a 650 FPS sniper rifle at less than 60 feet! This video is for my Subscribers ONLY!
@wonderworld32 If you are a airsoft sniper who is not at the battlefront? Yes. If you wear glasses? Yes. Everyone's airsoft gun is shooting below 360 FPS? Yes. High powered modified airsoft guns? No!
@wonderworld32 YES! If the mesh goggles fit over your glasses, you are better off than without. I shot at close range to simulate a high powered sniper rifle.
@kx85isd It is ONE of the cheapest mask on the market. I made this video because I made my own anti-glint for my sniper rifle, and wanted to torture test the rest of the mesh.....
The problem with all the "tests" on Youtube is that people do it in an average household and I don't think I've shot someone with a 460 fps Airsoft rifle from 20 feet away. ,' : )
@TheRandomstickfigure True! But I have a private view video of what happens when someone DOES get hit with a 650 FPS sniper rifle at less than 50 feet!
@HecticConsolesUK In Hawaii, we can have pellet rifles shooting over 1200 FPS, and this Beeman Tempest pistol I used at the end of the video, it used to shoot at 500 FPS.
For airsoft, most fields here have a set limit between 400 FPS - 500 FPS, depending on the field owners. But there are other airsoft game organizations that don't allow any limits, so there are AEGs shooting over 650 FPS with full auto capabilities, and airsoft sniper rifles shooting over 800 FPS!
Instead of having a go at people for asking, actually tell them why you are using a pointed pellet round to show the safety of an airsoft mask. A pair of full seal stamped steel goggles is better than a pair of polycarbonate shooting glasses. In the uk, about a quarter of the players use stamped steel and most bb shatters simply irritate the eye. While a pair of full seal polycarbonate is best, steel is betrer than glasses.
@DarkWorld2450 In Hawaii, we have the previledge to upgrade our velocity to specific field limits. 400 FPS for AEGs, 450 - 500 FPS for bolt action spring sniper rifles. And there are the NO FPS limit clubs, where AEGs can blast out 500+ FPS in full auto, and sniper rifles can zing at you at 600+ FPS.
It was just a curiosity of what a pointed pellet CAN do to a steel mesh "lens". And I DO hear stories of polycarb lenses get shattered by a pellet. The safest way to go is combine lenses.
This is why the vast majority of mesh masks and goggles are only rated up to 400 fps or so. Beyond that, they ARE unreliable, and I think that considering what you threw at the mesh, it actually performed pretty well. 460 FPS is just too much for standard mesh goggles, especially when using .38's.
@masterkeys1009 You are SO RIGHT! I shot the mesh with a .177 lead pellet, because it stood up real well for what I seen other YouTube videos using .20 plastic pellets and such. The piece I used was scrap after I made my own glint prevention devise, which actually blurred the image through my scope. I ended up buying a real steel one eventually.
But I wouldn't use a mesh mask with OUT standard protective goggles UNDER it at all!
@123321mushy ANOTHER ONE who does NOT read what is written on my videos! People like you, do NOT write comments! Other than that, you are now BANNED from my Channel, and you got to BEG me for un-locking you OUT!
@robertstom1 The Lexan sheet I got is about 1/16" thick or little less than 2mm thick. I had to get the water to BOIL to be able to bend it. And the Lexan did not shrink or melt!
Cutting Lexan with a knife is TEDIOUS, and I used a Dremel cut-off wheel, because using a jigsaw, the Lexan melted and welded itself right after you make the cut.
I bought my sheet from Home Depot, if you live in America..... And it was a small sheet, like 8 inches by 11 inches... or so...
If your confident your new lens protects you , let me shoot you that close to the face .

tommyq374 1 month ago
@tommyq374 I only used an air pistol in this video. .177 Beeman Tempest. The rifle I used was an airsoft, blasting .36 at 495 FPS.
