  • Gil Galad was the HIgh King of the Noldor and died at the end of the Second Age during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, when they besieged Sauron in Bard-dur for thirty years. Elendil, King of Gondor also died in that dread battle. I wish JRRT had done the story in more depth, but in truth there were more stories in Middle-earth than one man had time to tell I think.

  • FUCK YOU! Hate this music more than anything! And this crappy video!

  • @RushRazHD , you must like to torture yourself then if you're watching it

    =S

  • @FinalFrontier0 i didn't knew it was so crappy like this lol

  • @RushRazHD

nonono u gotta mean Fingolfin who died by fighting with Melkorwell Morgoth Bauglir infront of Thangorodrim and when he died lords of eagle came and took his body and take it to secret city of Gondolin ;)

  • @152Jarmo

sorry i sended thisone to wrong person ^^ :D

  • @RushRazHD wut

  • As we read, Gil-Galad was one of the purest of Elves, and a true hero for the good of Middle-Earth, but when he was corrupted, or mislead, or for some reason converted to evil, I believe he turned into something so cruel and aweful that no Man or Elf could give him a name. It is furthermore said he himself had forgotten it, and that he spoke in a tongue so dark and evil that scars on his mouth would open during speech. I believe he is called the Mouth of Sauron, Mordor's lieutenant.

  • @ForWeAreLegion , I think you're mistaken. The Mouth of Sauron was Sauron's ambassador who was a Black Númenórean. Therefore a man.

  • @FinalFrontier0 Ah, I see. Well, in these times of great information and confusion, it is never easy to rely solely on one source. But thanks for clearing it out, I remember now that I have read that explanation somewhere. But I reckon you saw the extended cut where the remnants of the Fellowship confronts the Mouth of Sauron? Did you find it scary or weird-scary when the Mouth of Sauron said "Gandalf" in the sentence "who knew someone so little could endure so much pain? And he did, Gandalf"?

  • @ForWeAreLegion , yeah I was fairly young when I first saw the film, that scene creeped me out a lot haha.

  • @FinalFrontier0 You seem like you know quite alot about Middle-Earth, not alike the mainstream man who thinks that these are movies and no more to it. Do you have any idea on what the runes on the mouth of Sauron means?

  • @ForWeAreLegion , No idea about the runes but if you wanna learn a lot about Middle Earth read the books and visit lotr.wikia.com , theres a lot of articles on there with lots of cool info.

  • @FinalFrontier0 Ah, cool. Well. I added you as a friend also.

  • @FinalFrontier0 gil-galad died at that war with elendil

  • @ForWeAreLegion the runes are written in real Elvish, but there's nothing that I recall in the books to suggest they're there. And runes on weapons and armor is usually important enough to bear mentioning. Tolkien was very detailed in his descriptions.

Gil-Galad was the first ring-bearer of Elrond's Ring, and Tolkien specifically says he left it with Elrond before going to war. To keep it safe. It's pretty clear that in canon, Elrond never left Rivendell. That would defeat the point.

  • @ForWeAreLegion Not sure, but I think Gil-Galad was killed by Morgoth himself, into a direct confrontation? Into the Battle of Tears?

  • @abejok You are totally right. I mixed him up with the Black Numenorean who later became the Mouth of Sauron.

  • @abejok

nonono u gotta mean Fingolfin who died by fighting with Melkor/Morgith Bauglir infront of Thangorodrim and when he died lords of eagle came and took his body and take it to secret city of Gondolin ;)

  • Thanks for posting this. I found it interesting.

  • Last high king of noldor..

    Ave Gil-Galad!

    Ave Noldor!

  • very enjoyable

  • anyone know where i can watch the deleted scene where they show this guy especialy the part when sauron kills him

  • @followernumber1 it's actually in the movie 1st one part one On e Ring To Rule Them All he's the one that tells them to prepare for for battle and to fire thier arrows at the enemy

  • Gil-Galad, the first Warden.

If people read the book they would know of him :)

  • The text is rather hard to read

  • @Clockwork2011 , yeah looking back at this now...it looks pretty terrible lol

  • Beautiful work. An interesting thing about this poem is that is but an echo of earlier works by the Elves, mostly about Earendil. In addition it had been rendered in a common tongue as a simple translation from the Quenya. Tolkien loved language and he idealized the Elven tongue. One might imagine that every word in the poem as originally written had many more meanings than its rendering into the debased and simple language of Men in the Third Age.

  • @harri685 Does one needs to write a poem himself to display the beauty of what is written? I think not..

  • ohh damn wath this vid was good its so great nice work

  • A record left by Isildur in Minas-Tirith implies that Sauron himself slew Gil-Galad, with the heat of his bare hands.

The first ring was given Narya, together with the "The third ring, Vilya" to Gil-galad

"but Gil-galad entrusted Narya to his lieutenant Círdan, Lord of the Havens of Mithlond, who kept it after Gil-galad's death"

The second ring, Nenya was wielded by Galadriel of Lothlórien.

  • @iumelen Then we havethe 3 rings on ther place ...

Gil-Galad ("Star of Radiance") did have spear was named Aiglos or Aeglos, meaning "snow-point" or "snow-thorn" or more commonly "icicle".

and last Gil-galad appears very briefly in the first film during the opening prologue sequence ! .. Peter Jackson say it himself ! look at you DVD Exter !

  • gil galad didn't have a sword he had a spear.

  • I memorized this poem when I was 16 - first time I read the trilogy.. I am not 58 and can still call it to mind!

  • I have the extended version and there are no scenes with gil galad yet there are pics of him. Why?

  • During the opening battle sequence of FOTR, Gil Galad is the elf you see with the wreath-crown (thingy) stabbing his long sword-spear down into an orc (presumably).

  • all three elven ring-bearers do appear in the beginning of the movie but only for a few seconds. Gil-galad is the dark-haired one in the corner.

  • In the time that the story takes place, don't the Three reside with Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel?

  • Yes, but they are not the original ring-bearers (well Galadriel is).

Celebrimbor made the three rings and gave one to Galadriel, and two to Cirdan the Shipwright. Cirdan passed one of the rings on to Gil-galad, Gil-galad died shortly therafter. Elrond as his heir, also inherited his ring. sometime between The Last Alliance and LoTR Cirdan gave his ring to Gandalf. Thus yes, at the time of LoTR the rings reside with Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel.

  • you're wrong, a 5 year old could've made this.

  • nutin special

  • a 10 year old could have made this

  • i'd have given you an F for this

  • Good thing you aren't a teacher then. I got an A for this. The picture and music match the poem and the message.

  • @FinalFrontier0 rofl you got an A for this, what kind of school do you go to =)) "my first joint" high school?

  • You got an A for this? In what grade, fourth? And what exactly is the message you speak of? I'm sure you do not have a novel interpretation. The pictures match? Really? LOTR pictures match a poem from LOTR? No way! Wow you are one creative person.

  • @FinalFrontier0 Its really good id give you and A*

  • @FinalFrontier0 Agree this is definately an A* just for getting the match between music and text, let alone putting together with matching pics. This vid is in my favs.

  • Nice and cool video. I liked it.

  • wasn't that Elrond at 0:15? what film

    does Gil-galad appear?

  • In this first scene of LOTR-TFOTR movie, he appears ultra fast one or two times with his lance. But most of the times, the camera focus on Elrond.

At 0,15, it is one of this two times that supposedly Gil Galad appears.

  • @fabiofdf That's true, though I hate to be picky or anything but Gil-galad wielded a spear not a lance. They really should have shown more of him, though admitted he wouldn't be featured in the rest of the film.

Also why at the start of the film do they show Galadriel with Nenya and not show Gil-galad with Vilya, I mean neither of them actually made the three rings but did later become keepers of them.

  • theyre is only 3 rings for the elves, thus vilya was not a keeper of a ring of power.

  • @millitantatheist1 You're right Vilya wasn't a keeper of a ring of power, Vilya was a ring of power (or more precisely the Ring of Air greatest of the three, that which bore a sapphire and which was passed from Gil-Galad to his herald Elrond).

  • it is by jrr tolkien how dare u say he is reatared! try listening to it, it is beautiful

  • i agree, it is quite beatiful

  • Yes no one can say it isn't

  • Short and good.

  • this is my favorite poem by J.R.R. Tolkien :)

  • Gil-galad died in the last alliance of men and elves (the battle in which saurons hand was severed). His SPEAR, aeglos, was never mentioned after his death.

  • Sauron's hand? I thought it was only his finger.

  • Yes, actually. I meant his finger =P

  • incorrect in the fellowship boromir picks up the hilt of Narsil but calls it but a broken sword and casts it down aragorn replaces it with reverence in the book it is mentioned that Aiglos was kept here along with the shards of Narsil

  • boromir never touches the shards in Rivendell, like it shows in the movie. Aragorn actually carries the shards with him throughout The Fellowship of The Ring and just before he departs with frodo and company it is reforged, as Anduril. So in reality the shards were never kept in Rivendell during the actual timeline of the story.

  • So tell me who brought him Anduril?

it was the Dunedain Rangers (not elrond)

so how did they get it?

well Aragorn after his father was killed by wargs grew up in rivendel so whether he had it or not it was kept in rivendel until reforged and brought by the rangers to aragorn

  • Don't be ignorant. It wasn't reforged and brought by the rangers to Aragorn. Aragorn was given the shards of Narsil when he was young by the Dunedain. HE KEPT THE SHARDS WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES. Yes thats right...he carried around the shards. Then, when he arrived in rivendell with frodo, sam, and Glorfindel, he had the blade reforged and made into Anduril. So you see, the only time that the shards were in the hands of an elf during Aragorn's life was when they were reforging it. =)

  • That makes no sense. Why would Aragorn keep the shards all his life if he chose to be exile?

  • Because the shards and the sword represent everything he believes in..the fight for the greater good and the strength of man-they belonged to his noble ancestors

  • @coldboxster23 Your question occured to me also, but what K1ller30 tells what JRRT wrote. Seems impractical and sentimental to carry it thru battle, but who are we latter day Men to disagree with the champion of the Dunedain???

  • Finally someone that knows what they are talking about!

  • @Dewality

    thanks

  • Beauty beauty beautiful - I have no words.

With this beautiful song and pictures it's a special event !!! 5***** but pleace make it longer - I want more from this stuff !!!!!

  • Wow, Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven intro fit pretty well with this. ^_^

  • Gil-galad hasn't got a sword, just his lance...

  • His spear.. :)*

  • @JHRMS Aegelos

  • Comment removed

  • so Gil-Galad The Star of Radiance fell? Hm... I did not know he fell but it is a pity, he was my favorite elf, May you rest in peace, my beloved king May the stars watch over you...

  • According to "The Complete Guide to Middle Earth" Gil-Galad was killed in battle against Sauron, year 3441 SA.

  • Sil-Salad was a lettuce leaf,

He oiled the vinegar of garden sheaf

His wife maiden fair was wont to queef

but he made a fitting end to a meal of beef

  • hehe he did get pwnd

  • Neatly done, sir.

    GO GIL-GALAD!

Even if you did... get a little pwne...

    GO GIL-GALAD! XD

  • Hey, well, Elf vs. Maia. You can't expect ~too~ much! (Then again, they did kill alot of them when they warred against Morgoth).

  • nice vid bro

  • Gilgalad was Elrond's king; and died in that war. Elves can be killed, or die of grief.

Not subject to age, sickness or debility.

  • its a shame that he was so important to the battle of the last alliance yet he was shown in the movie for like 3 sec

  • it was sam who did that in the first book

  • cool

  • words are kind of blurry..... but good!
