It doesn't make any sense that people are calling this game MK9. There were only 7 pure MK titles before this one. There was MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4, MK:DA (5), MK: Deception (6), MK: Armageddon (7), and now MK8. MK Vs. DC doesn't count as a pure MK title because it was a versus title. Just the same as why X-Men Vs. Street Fighter wasn't counted in the SF numbered history.

@Dragoon1020 Hehe, well like you said, Unchained was just a port of Deception so it doesn't count, just like MK Gold was just an MK4 port with extras for Dreamcast. It doesn't advance the series, just adds to an existing title like all those versions of Street Fighter 2 they had on SNES before they started the SF3 series. Shaolin Monks doesn't count either because it's just an adventure spin-off game based in the confines of the MK universe.

@XxgokuxX7 actually you have it completely backwards.. in the interview Ed says how Armageddon happens the world is about to end, so the present Raiden send's visions of what's happening to the Raiden from the past to he can change the future for the better. This is a re-installment of MK1-3 but the beginning of the game will show the future (present time after Armageddon).

This game takes place in that new version of MK 1-3.
